Tom Szostak, Healthcare Economics Manager for Toshiba America Medical Systems discusses Accountable Care Orgtanizations, one of the key government-based healthcare delivery reform measures from the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010.
The Affordable Care Act (ACA) is intended to improve the delivery of healthcare through new payment models. One of the delivery model initiatives supported by the ACA is the creation of Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs). ACOs will increase the value of healthcare for all patients and lead to improved outcomes and quality of care while reducing cost.

Good question. When the bill was passed, no one had read it and, thus, no one could explain it as this nice video does.

I like this video, I've read too many confusing reports about ACO's with emphasis only on the negative effects ACO's will have on Health Care as a whole (e.g. HC jobs down, less money to MDs, etc...) I believe ACO's can have a positive effect on our Health Care in America if we give it a chance, and maybe iron out the bugs-as with ALL new & huge reforms. Good Luck America!
