I remember I downloaded this game on my ps3 back in the day , played 1 game and thought " This isnt Gotham " so I think your point about the maps / content not feeling " Batmanish " enough is fair.
@Esben M I think the style would have worked better if they made the environments look like the 90s animated serie. Dark background and lots of shadow.
Yeah, like I loved the game, but I was actually super shocked at the start of this video that they'd made a comic book tie in and everything - it always felt to me that they just wanted to make a quirky FPS borrowing ideas from batman but set in their own universe or that they hadn't wanted to pay Warner Bros the licensing fee and so made a 'batman-inspired' game that dodged any law suits. Like, the maps and most of the weapons really weren't badman inspired at all, the few that were felt like exceptions more than the rule.
I agree. I feel they coulld have done far better with the weapons and things to make them more on theme. Instead of just generic fps weapons they should have had things like Batterang launching shotguns or laughing gas grenades, one of Jokers pop-guns but it shoots exploding corks or something.
Back when I had no money and a crappy laptop. I remember look all over steam for a ftp fps game that would run on my computer and finding this game. I remember having some fun with it. Didn't play it much though and it also ran horribly. Would definitely love to see this game or a game in this style get revived. Maby even a single player or co-op story driven game based on the imposters comic and characters
This was literally my favorite XBOX 360 shooter. Playing it was some of the most fun I’ve ever had. The customization, the abilities, the gameplay - all felt so unique and inviting. The only downside is it’s the only 360 game I wanted that didn’t become backwards-compatible. Thanks for the video, very informative. (Liked and Subscribed)
Gonna have to disagree with you on the maps. They were one of my favorite parts of the game, not necessarily for the level design, but how they incorporated the Batman elements. They may not look like much at a glance, possibly even looking like boring urban backdrops from any number of shooters, but the easter eggs, references and featured locations actually run pretty deep into the IP if you are familiar with Batman. It was all very subtle and nice. I honestly wish I could've seen more.
Sniping on this game nailed that feeling of satisfaction, shame it died. I wish there was a death of for super monday night combat, the way that game died was pretty interesting.
If the game was as fun as the reviewers were saying, all they would have to do to have a successful re-release would be to Improve the graphics, fix Net Issues with new improved servers, fix the bad lobby’s and make it free to play to begin with. Atleast to earn me as a player. (Personal Opinion)
The f2p launch did fix lobbies and servers on pc, the netcode was also functional, not bad neither excellent, just decently functional and probably still better than many games out there.
Maybe re-balance some weapons too while they’re at it, but not really that necessary, since none were horribly overpowered. Just to make it even better than it was, and so there wouldn’t be those obvious choices.
GCI was ahead of its time considering what some Shooters have become “cash grabs” lack of content was a problem for sure. But over all it was enjoyable. I personally enjoyed the game. It be pretty sweet if it got a revival on console. *Edit* This video was my introduction to your channel I enjoyed it and you’ve got a new subscriber. ☺️

@@caden1917 Hence why I said to @Blue *maybe they can pull a 'No Man's Sky'* . Pulling a no man's sky is remaking the game in such a way that it is now more successful than it was. So your comment to me well need I say completely pointless as it has no bearing on what I said GG. LOL
Could you guys imagine a game that was like Battlefield 4 but in an urban setting with GITS, able to modify your Tachikoma and agent as you see fit? A man can dream..
Great video Sir, always wondered what happened to GCI, it seemed to have fizzled out without even a whimper. Could you look at the Universal Monsters MMO as well? That did so poorly, it died in less than six months.
There was a Universal Monsters MMO?!! I am fascinated by thinking about how exactly that would work...were the classes things like "Mummy" and "Werewolf" or something? I must do some googling!
Customization in this game was the best i've ever seen even to this day. Different body types with different stats, lots of weapons and mods, it's a shame it ended this way.
An example that games never die on the PC platform, heck there's still a community of PC gamers that still play Splinter Cell Chaos Theory, Blacklist multiplayer.
We need a remaster of this, a lot of the reasons it failed had to do with the time it was released, I feel if it was given another shot as a remastered version with better graphics, game mechanics, and physics, and most importantly the damn net code, it would be a great casual shooter just like TF2
I don't know about you, but ill take paying for a $15 game with microtransactions rather than a $60 unfinished game with microtransactions and multiple $15+ DLC's

I loved this game and Monolith studios put out some of the best FPS games of the early 2000's. No One Lives Forever is in my top 10 games of all time. They have really fallen off lately. Skinny Body, Roller Skates and Glider Wings all day!!!
I LOVED GCI and its wacky mix of COD and TF2. Over time matching took longer and longer, plus most of the people who stuck around were crazy good at the game. This could result in waiting 20 minutes to get stomped into the ground. It was one of my favorite games though, and I still get sad seeing it in my Steam list.
I loved this game, i really liked the humor and the weird loadouts. I think something this game could have done due to the crazy setting, would have been SUPER crazy maps. Like some kind of attack / defense assault based on a ridiculously convoluted heist. They could have really ran with the crazyness and weirdness.
At the time I actually preferred this over Call of Duty, I’d really like to see them take another stab at this idea and really flesh out the world it’s in.

@@Pixie1001. The comics looked good surprisingly. I might read them at some point in time 👍
"Batman's gone, it's our turn to pro- *whispering and mumbling*"
Jokerz gang member: *non stop beeps until laughs like the Joker*
Bingo Bango *DUNDUNDUN-DU-DU-DU*
This was such a good game, but microtransactions, bugs, and people quitting it made it die so fast.
Honestly I wanted an FPS set in Gotham but I didn't even know this existed when it was out.

I enjoyed this game. It was added to Xbox Games for Gold, so I ended up trying it for free.
It will be missed, some of the best fun I've had
@Blake lastname Lmao. Laughed too hard at this. Savage
I had trouble explaining to friends why this was so much fun. But it was. Batman lookalike on roller skates with an M60 and ninja stars? Hell yeah.
For real, wish they would bring it back.
GCI is still my favorite fps to date. And I would love to see a sequel with improvements to the format but I'm sure we never will.
2012: $15 for an online only game is a lot, and they have the audacity to add micro transactions
2019: cute... now hold my beer
I might be late but there is still people complaining about games coming out for 20$ with cosmetic micro transactions. Check out fall guys

Quite honestly we have been tolerating it and received garbage games from some big titles.
Gotham City Imposters is genuinely one of the most fun FPS games I've played. It was super unique, and just wacky fun.
I really hope this vid helps bring back the fans that forgot about this gem. It really was a great game.
I loved Gotham city imposters when I stumbled across it on xbox. Played it like crazy. Miss this game.

Man that was one of my favourite games I love how I got it for free with Xbox Live Gold
Wiktor Sz fr I loved it
uCriBaBy 69 same I loved playing happy wars
Sniping on this game nailed that feeling of satisfaction, shame it died. I wish there was a death of for super monday night combat, the way that game died was pretty interesting.
I played this shit as a substitute for when my pc broke and I couldn’t play TF2 anymore

I HAVE SAID THIS FOREVER AND NEVER KNEW WHY! This game took over a summer growing up and I know I picked it up from somewhere!
*Edit*
This video was my introduction to your channel I enjoyed it and you’ve got a new subscriber. ☺️
What Apex became when season 1 launched
Skunk Pepper Pretty much. Tho I don’t play Apex to often lol
Awesome editing. I love the cuts and music. So many videos try too hard... More videos should be edited like this! I love it!
You should do a story on Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex - First Assault Online. Another one of those tie-in games that was here and gone in a flash.
I think he will wait till Anthem fails completely its almost there anyway.
Why'd you have to remind me?
Now I'm annoyed again.
@@Blue-ke5sb Sorry man ): AAA sucks. Maybe they can pull a 'No Man's Sky'.
Loadout (TF2 inspired shooter) and Infinity Crisis (DC MOBA game) are other dead games you may want to check out.
Loadout was kinda fun, but i got to it when it was well dead already so
rip infinite crisis :( servers got shut down
Infinite Crisis hurt me so bad. So many unique skins for all of those heroes, all wasted.
Loadout is only dead on the PC, the PS4 version is still being updated.
Omg this game was free and so fun! Overweight Batman gang?
LA Gaming I hated bullies so much lmao
I still to this day, despise burlies and mighties. -Speedy

Yo Larry!
It's always a pleasure to find your comments in the wild
I hope this vid brings back the game, used to play this sooooo much back when it was still popular. It was such a good game.
Dude, i played this game soooo much as a kid, it was awesome flying and diving into ppl, thanks for the nostalgia dude
It was a great concept like brink,
but ended up dying like brink
If Rage can get a reboot/sequel than so should Brink, so much cool lore and style wasted on a bare bones title
@@thesepretzelssuckass247 rage 2 is out
Brink was SO good.
Brink was much worse than this game, Brink was basically a lie with flashy trailers & cinematics then the actual game was a turd sandwich
This game was one of those that I had on my "to-play" list since it came out. I think I remember it being on the cover of Game Informer years ago.
Customization in this game was the best i've ever seen even to this day. Different body types with different stats, lots of weapons and mods, it's a shame it ended this way.
LithTech has been around since at least 1998 with Blood II and Shogo, rather than 2003.
I’ve been waiting so long for somebody to make a video about this game
I don't know about you, but ill take paying for a $15 game with microtransactions rather than a $60 unfinished game with microtransactions and multiple $15+ DLC's
Pepperoni Playboy I wouldn’t exactly call this game finished by any comparison lol
Unbalanced, awful net-code, 5 maps at launch, and little in the way of variety play.

Man, i remember playing this on the ps3 and seeing this game is giving me so many memories of replying the tutorial over and over again
Personally I loved GCI. me and my friends back in the day would always get together and bust up some jokerz.
this game was so good. R.I.P :C
I know its an old video but its always sad when a game dies. But hey, all things must come to an end.
To this day I remember my whole load out. I’d run around as a tank, that wore roller skates and using a smg that was so OP!
Hey, NerdSlayer! Love your detective work!
Would be great to see the cases of Bloodline Champions/Battlerite and Infinite Crisis.
“ What Makes You Different From Us?”
“ Iam Not Wearing Hockey Pads”
I loved this game, i really liked the humor and the weird loadouts. I think something this game could have done due to the crazy setting, would have been SUPER crazy maps. Like some kind of attack / defense assault based on a ridiculously convoluted heist. They could have really ran with the crazyness and weirdness.
It was like tf2 with a light dc theme. Gosh this vid brought back memories
I love seeing you talk about shooters! Hope you do more.
At the time I actually preferred this over Call of Duty, I’d really like to see them take another stab at this idea and really flesh out the world it’s in.
Great Vid! I think you should cover BRINK next.. I thought it was gonna be soo good but it’s completely forgotten!
DirtyDanny96 me tooooo I bought it Day 1 man. Such a waste of money. Went to 10$ in about a month. It was suppose to be the next best thing man.
I have a suggestion: Death of a game, World Adrift. Its a game that will shut down within the coming month and it has an interesting story, you should check it out N.S.
Classic ass game I miss smh. One of the best shooters ever. Praying for number eventually would be huge in 2019-2020
