Very cool tutorial! Glad to see someone out there helping the new RPG Maker Devs! I particularly like the fade and labels you added in. Little this like that really make a game look and feel "polished" and are the kind of things that will really help net devs level up their own abilities. Keep up the good work!
This is awesome, thank you. Was wondering.... if I wanted to have the player chose a faction before the character, would it essentially be the same sort of process? Inother words, chose faction then chose character in that faction. Characters would be custom (skills, etc) per faction selected. This effects the over game, obviously, basically it's a scenario. Anyway, I'm sure you get my meaning. For choosing the faction, I figure it would be an icon or picture that would trigger the character selection. If you could let me know if I should approach this a different way that would be amazing. Thanks for all you do!!!
You're definitely on the right track. The best way to do it imo is almost exactly what you said, create the option for the faction first using a picture or sprite of your choosing, and then have the characters you're able to select based on which faction. You can use this system for both of those processes!

Hey I really liked the video it's been really helpful, however I've been really stuck on the first bit as I've messed up somewhere and not sure where as for some reason Iam getting it so that the character event appears below the starting position in-game and doesn't act as the player starting position so it just skips the first character and begins the cycle at character 2 with the event still below. I'm not sure where I went wrong but any help would be appreciated
I'd have to see your event flow to know for sure but do you have Transparency turned on for your Player? The graphic that is changing is technically the EVENT not the PLAYER. The player needs to be invisible and the event graphic is what changes when you press up and down.
This plugin is part of the launch DLC for RPG Maker MZ (I have Shorts on how to add launch DLC to your project). If you're on MV though, I'm not sure if this plugin was included with it's launch DLC
@@runthemc I got your project and I'm about to do a test to see if the plugins will work. I hope it does cause this is the only Character Selection I could find. There were videos a long time ago but I can't find them.
@@runthemc Now I see why the plugin came with MZ lol. I did however get the tint character selection working properly with this tutorial. But, is there a way to add dialogue to each character when the arrows are being pushed and change with the characters before the players push okay to choose? I tried adding one dialogue with character for testing in the loop, but then you can't push the arrow keys.
I love this but for some reason this drops my fps down to 8 when running this event.. Any help would greatly be appreciated. Also i have a pretty powerful computer so i know its not that and other events run smooth but this one tanks the fps pretty bad.

For some reason I can't get the if Button [OK] section to work. My UP and DOWN works fine
I also am having this issue and cannot get it to work past this point. Everything else up to hitting okay seems to be fine...

Put a 1 frame wait at the end of the loop right before it repeats.
