What developer can i use? 30 any brand developer? does developer and bleach expire??? my hair doesn't seem to be lifting so could I use any developer with my schwart blonde me bleach as I just got a new one and the Schwartz developer has not arrived grrrr
Great technique. Simple, to the point directions. Covered just what was needed to give her a refresh. I would say this is what the average light to medium brown level 5, 6, 7 prefers. Nothing over the top, low maintenance, with an easy, soft grow out. This way will get you more customers in the chair and will have them coming back.
I love it. I always fear them having lines when they pull it back, so I’d be tempted to leave our a little front halo and paint it back ways. This would be perfect for my teenager who prefers subtle and fast.
This turned out so well! I was shocked by the outcome! I'm trying to learn how to color my own hair, and foils are very hard. But I thought they were needed to isolate the hair. I have one of the boards, but it's long with no handle and I keep dropping it. Gonna look into one like this!
Hi james enjoy your teaching ,thank you. Did I miss the shade you used? Would love a teaching on face framing evenly ..after many years still a. challenge am afraid :) Thx dar
Very pretty outcome! I bought that teeth board from your link ages ago and only just tried it! Really great tool (tho I think I might have used it the wrong way round lol oops)
OMG!! this is brilliant. I have never heard of charcoalite bleach - what developer do you use and how does it not bleach the rest of the hair????? I'd like to know how long you left it on. I still using the hilite cap - old school lol.. i did mine yesterday and for some reason it didn't seem to lift and I used what I always use - not sure if I over did it with the toner. I used same products as I have already done. Not sure if bleach and developer go off?? should last for over a year I am sure??
I have recently trained and am looking for a way.to speed up my time. I love this idea have thought about it alot but I'm worried about bleeding,. does it not transfer with you not foiling them 👍
Hi Richy yes I have seen it but I haven’t tried it I don’t think you can get it in this country yet or if you can I haven’t seen any of the wholesalers stocking it
Hair nerd and former instructor here, this is in fact a balayage. I know its a name for a trend, but originally its just a french technique for hand painted hilights
He used a special charcoal bleach ratio 1:1.5 . The charcoal tends to be thick and so as long as you gently lay them on top of each other, it shouldn't bleed
No you should not get bleeding onto the other hair providing the consistency of the lightener is good I like to mix if 1 parts powder to 1.5 parts pro oxide and you have controlled the saturation of the Lightner on the hair.
Hi, Good evening.May i ask a quick question? I've left a few questions and/or comments recently on the feed to various uploads but not had a reply, which i understand totally because your a busy man of course so i know your time is short when replying so thats cool. So just want to confirm, in order to get an answer if at all possible if your not busy, do i need to pay on patreon? The reason i ask, is because i was recently made redundant after 12yrs of service in my job, so i cant really afford (at the moment) to join despite wanting to but as a single mum, my son and bills come first. Which avenue do i need to take in order to ask for your advice which, must i say, i do trust (based on your uploads and initially, what triggered me to subscribe to your channel) as i would love the feedback but don't get it unless from what i see on LIVE stream you need to pa which at present i cant due to reasons explained above. Any time you have to feed this back, I'd greatly appreciate, as I'd love to know how to get answers to my questions due to admiring your advice on tutorials and/ or uploads posted. Kind Regards, Lawton, UK
Hi thanks very much for getting in touch the comments on RUclips of very difficult to keep up with they get pushed along way down in a very short space of time so if you want to answer specific questions please could you put them in an email and send them to hairjamesa@icloud.com thanks
@@TheLifeOfHair thank you for the reply. I'm a little dubious about emailing only due to the bot scams flying around currently. Which I monitor and have had a few myself but so far not fallen for. It's a shame because it ruins actual authentic and genuine replies like yourself here. RUclips are doing more to monitor and address this from what I've read recently. But hey wow thanks for your reply it means alot. Keep up the good work on your channel. You help people like me who aren't hairdressers who love doing their own hair and friends, and who take a genuine interest. You help those who are hairdressers too so yeh, it's a great channel. 👍⭐
totally not impressed! When you sectioned off the underneath of her hair was blotchy! You can’t cut time and make it beautiful ! I have been a hairdresser since you were in diapers or earlier, son and you need to try harder!
@camillenordwall3718 And yet, despite your comment, " you can't cut time and make it beautiful. ", her hair turned out beautifully?! 😱There must be some mistake! What hair sorcery is this Sir!? 🧙💢💆♀️💥💇🏼♀️💫💁🏼♀️
This was how I was taught to highlight 24 years ago! Crazy to see people doing this again! It was always a good technique for me!

Wonderful Mary thank you very much for your comment
I love that you show realistic techniques for a busy stylist!

Love this, seen you do it before (privileged 😊) love how simple it is.
So many things I see seem complicated and out of my remit. Maybe not
Absolutely gorgeous!!!❤️❤️❤️
Stunning as per usual, James!🥰
Love the new haircut! Love seeing my hair type being modeled!
Thank you very much glad you like it!
Thankyou for sharing James ❤️x
How does the product not start lifting the sections of hair above or below the weave you applied it on?!?
The sections are so thin and not saturating the hair below
How is hw not over lightening the pre lightened areas ?
It looks beautiful love it

Best highlight video I've seen! :D Thank you!

Superb, Lol if it worked then great.
I appreciate you sincerely with love Jiwoo 😊
LOOKS GREAT!
Thank you very much Bernard
It's the quickest method for me too!
Typical Sunday prep roast, make brunch and watch the life of hair ☺️👍 sorted
Gorgeous result.
Thank you
Lovely cut on her hair too!!!!
She has such a nice hair texture pattern
Super .. always unique
Great tip.. Great job done. 👏
Thank you 🙏🏻
What lightening product are you using

What is that tool called? Thank you for the video
What type of bleach works best for this technique?
I have recently trained and am looking for a way.to speed up my time. I love this idea have thought about it alot but I'm worried about bleeding,. does it not transfer with you not foiling them 👍
Love this could you reccomend a bleach plz
Thank u
What brand "charcolite bleach" and what developer are you using - vol??
You can just let the bleached pieces lay on the other hair without foils?
Lovely 😊
The part that you did not color did not affect the underneath?
Hey james have ya seen guy tangs new range, the shampoo colour is amazinggggg
Hi Richy yes I have seen it but I haven’t tried it I don’t think you can get it in this country yet or if you can I haven’t seen any of the wholesalers stocking it
@@TheLifeOfHair aww, it looks amazing, i deffo think ya should bring out the J.A Colour line haha
Also doesnt the "charcoalite bleach" dry out and then not be effective - plus how long do you leavve it on????
Is there any bleeding that occurs on hair that will get laid over on top?
I wanna try this but I'm worried about 2 factors:
1. Getting maximum lift
2. Preventing bleed marks
Do you have any input about these?
Loved this vid! The end result was beautiful! Much blonder than I expected it would be! Would love to know what bleach you used!
Thank you Kimberly. Charcoalite bleach.
Hair nerd and former instructor here, this is in fact a balayage. I know its a name for a trend, but originally its just a french technique for hand painted hilights
Hey man. What kind of bleach were you using?
I think I looked like the difibiaba charcoal lightener
Did you use bleach or hi lift color?
Hi I’m curious can you do this method with a root touch up or would the colors bleed to much. Thanks
I wonder the same. I guess with root touch up for lowlights you would need foil to separate the hair.
Did you use a higher developer since you didn’t incubate with foils?
Yes I always bump my develop at one level above what I would normally be using in foil
Was it a clay bleach ? Wondering how you kept it from bleeding, if not clay
The light now is charcoal lightener mixed on a 1 to 1.5 ratio
The tool you used for highlight, what are the called? I didn’t understand but did you use bleach?
Hi so the board is a highlighting board with teeth. And I used charcoalite bleach.
What was the colour product you used James? ❤️x
Where you using bleach 20 vol I would be worried about bleeding in to the other hair
He used a special charcoal bleach ratio 1:1.5 . The charcoal tends to be thick and so as long as you gently lay them on top of each other, it shouldn't bleed
wow!
What lightener did you use ? Clay ??
He said charcoal 1:1.5 ratio
Where can I buy that comb????
Amazon they are really cheap.
Are you using a color to lift or highlights?
Charcoal bleach
What medium did you use, bleach, Clay , ir color?
Bleach charcoalite ✌🏻
what developer????? with the charcolite bleach????@@TheLifeOfHair
Do you get color bleeding onto the other hair?
No you should not get bleeding onto the other hair providing the consistency of the lightener is good I like to mix if 1 parts powder to 1.5 parts pro oxide and you have controlled the saturation of the Lightner on the hair.
Hi...what bleach are you using?
Charcoalite 1:1.5 ratio
with what developer?????@@cassandrav4358
