I had immigrants for neighbors: they would bring me left over food from dinner and share their culture with me just because they wanted to. They love their community no matter what background you are. I'm a white dude from Ohio, and I'll be casting my first vote ever for the Harris/Walz ticket. I won't be voting for any Republican until this movement is in the rear view.
Republicans don't deserve to be in any position of power until they make significant changes. The GOP needs to get off their authoritarian powertrip and honestly start representing the American people's interest. The GOP also need to get out of the American people's personal lives and decisions. I have a co-worker, a black woman. We started to talk about politics and she just went out and said it-she was voting for Trump. That took be aback. But the underlying sentiment she kept dancing around is this-she hates the sudden influx of migrants to NYC. It’s plain nativism and xenophobia, not racism, that Trump is fanning. But it’s such a broken record with him that it just feels stale and old. And that’s what will ultimately sink him this time around-his racism and hatred is not new. And more voters are getting sick of it than are embracing it.
Explain to your friend Trump have hired many migrants many times (Newsweek) because that’s what hotels do. He also only build 49 mi of border fence at the cost of 1.2 billion. When he left office 1200 miles of open border remained (Wikipedia). Wealth disparity is the biggest reason for migrant movements. Only the super rich need endless supply of cheap maids, gardeners, janitors, etc. They don’t need union workers or any other labor protections. If Trump have it his way, we will see more migrants until the whole nation are lords and serfs.

Why is it that in a march for civil rights, the sacrifices made by white people to stand with minorities are downplayed or outright dismissed? My mother was a white woman marching in 1964 with a mixed child in her belly. She was exiled by the white community, mocked by the black community, and hated by black women for "taking a black man." Her sacrifice was never acknowledged, and I know she was not alone in her invisibility.

The major reason why America looks less like a developed country now is that income for the vast majority of Americans has not kept pace with living expenses. Many people are 2 paychecks away from an eviction notice or an auto repossession. Insurace, rent, and vehicle expenses take a huge chunk out of tens of millions of people's earnings. Immigrants are not responsible for this seemingly insurmountable earning problem. If anything, immigrants have helped to keep prices lower and stable.
Yep. You can resume everything even more in just "the major reason is the increase in inequality". Because the overall wealth has increased - it's just being ever desproportionaly kept by fewer people. I haven't actually done the math, but I'd bet that If you take the 0.1% richest people out of the equation, the numbers for the rest of the population will look very much like those nations previously categorized as "third world countries". What makes it even worse is that some of those countries do actually have free universal healthcare and higher public education, like Brazil.
