Cool, I was thinking about getting this system for my Sledge and maybe my XO-1 and future Infraction 6s v2 or getting waiting until Hobbywing releases a new Max 6 sensored with 4985 motor. My other option would be the Castle MMX 8s with 1717 1,650KV for the XO-1 and the Infraction. Keep up the good work Exo.

I tried to do something very similar Joe, I have all the Vitavon just the same. It chewed up a Castle 1515 and fried it on 4s. Never even got to run it on 6s. I haven’t touched it since, so thank you for revisiting this. How did you get the gearing to mesh? Only reason I asking is because I couldn’t get anything smaller than a 25 or 27t pinion because the motor mount wouldn’t slide down far enough to mesh on a 46t. My only solution was a a Castle 1717 that would take it.
Use a thin none-shiny tape and stick it onto the motor and measure with thermometer on it, will show true temps. Measuring on shiny reflective objects with a lazer thermometer, gives inaccurate Temps.

It's a 60mph truck stock out of the box, 45-50 isn't hard on short grass like this right? And if you put 6s on this motor, you would have smoked it considering it was at 160 already on 4s
@@codejunki567 It's not a 60mph truck stock out of the box, you have to install optional 25/46 gearing and that's on a 2400kv motor 60mph on the street only. Don't forget Exocaged RC has the heaviest vitavon upgrades on his truck. The front and rear bulkheads are at least a few pounds of added weight, plus the other aluminum parts he has on it. He's running 24/46 with a 2250KV motor, he would probably pick up a few mph on the street so you would probably be looking at 55mph on the street. If he geared up his pinion one more tooth to the suggested Traxxas speed gearing 25/46 he would be within a few mph of 60mph. Who wants to run a monster truck with a speed setup and run it on the street only or overheat their motor/esc? 51.5mph on dirt and grass is plenty fast enough..
@@FlailinMonkey I strictly bash my K6S, both bulkheads are Hot Racing aluminum, with the speed setup and have absolutely no issues. I can take it to a large parking lot and hit 73 mph, and also take it to the park and run back to back full speed grass runs with no issues.

WOW!!! I have my set for 45/26 gearing. Stock motor still doing about 65 plus MPH! I like the speed lol. GREAT JOB!! I may get this motor set when I burn out mine with all the viravon I have on it

Yeah i did the MAXX 6 and made my truck insanely quick. and on 4s I want to put this motor in as well and i think ill be set for 60mph

Mmx8s , with the 1650kv works awesome in maxx!!! Just now put 25/46 in it. Test today!
I have the same combo in my MAXX but I use the TRX-8960X motor mount so you can use the brace that comes with it to secure the motor on the back end.

You should try one of these system in the hammer rey and see what happens considering the motor is very tucked away with minimal air flow in that rig

It’s on the first pin and meshes fine for me.
I run 50/25 with Trencher LP and it runs hot, same Max8 G2 combo!

Any sugggestions on rear shock on v2, tried traxxas all springs for it and 50-80wt oil, diffrent rebound etc.. It still kicks up the rear of it

Forgive me Exo, but isn't 51.5 a little slow even though its running a 2250kv motor? Thats a 60mph truck out of the box no?
I had the same question. Mine does 49 mph or so out of the box on stock pinion. For the cost of the swap I’d want more than a couple mph.

The factory heatsink is for a smaller diameter motor

You've had trouble keeping motors cool because of all that extra weight! Only upgrades for Maxx are front knuckles an metal spur
Run it on 6s and let's see them temps.
