Thank you to all 3 . Without you my career would be to write Java programs for “little people” 😅

Curious to know what Matz uses Ruby for if not Rails. I would also love to see a Tauri-like Ruby capability. GUI is weak, IMO.

Well Ruby pre-dates Rails by almost a decade... It's a scripting language, so it's used for stuff like automating tasks, scripting games, ML, and yes, web stuff.

49:30 Please complain publicly about Ruby and Ruby on Rails. You don't need to make a PR. Write down what hurts you. I had multiple ideas that went into Rails without ever writing a line of code for it. Sometimes a problem just need to be pronounced and written out. If it's real, affects others, people will pick it up and fix. Or they show you one of the existing solutions.

smalltalk and lisp are so much better and faster and simpler than Ruby, love Ruby but facts are facts. Clear example of what DHH talks and claims that no other language allows for co-authorship like Ruby, ok dude, where tf do you think Matz got that, from the Metaobject Protocol book written by the people who made the CLOS library for Common Lisp, the Lisp community invented monkey patching, mixins, and all the OO style that Ruby uses, and CLOS is far more powerful than Ruby and with SBCL it has type inference and is as fast as Java, mostly between Java & Go.
