Wow. A sailing channel that shows sailing and sail adjustments rather than just talking about them. Show more actual sailing. Thanks. Liked, subscribed and belled!
So is altering course a point or two. More comfort, less roll, Better VMG, The main can be used for both propulsion and roll damping. What's not to like?
Best boat hack.. Remove the old toilet pump, us a maciator on the out side and a saltwater pump for the in. Each on their own switch. This will change boating for you.
That was an awesome video showing the challenges and rewards (working toilet) of a long passage. Nice shout out to Gary for the successful repair. Beautiful spinnaker too. Have fun, be safe, and enjoy One Life 🇺🇸🙏👏🏻🚜🤗.
That has to be a mood destroyer crapping in a bucket on the high seas. I just could not muster the courage to do something like this but I love the story.
Baggy wrinkles are not suitable for running rigging. Sisal and hemp being in short supply, inexpensive plastic boots are available for use on spreader tips. For my money, I would have simply relocated the preventer a notch or two.
Need one of those toilet seats that slides in a receiver hitch on a truck. Mount a receiver on the transom. That way you can pull your dingy or have a toilet on the transom. Fasten your seat belt and let it go overboard.
the romance of a broken toilet and 5 minutes too late reducing sail . . . as jimmy sang, "its for the stories we can tell." keep on telling. it is truly romantic in a way few will ever know like you.
Not on the boat, but at 31:46 with that sky in the horizon, I thought that why are they putting up the spinnaker, well yeah. Glad nothing bad happened. Thanks for the video!
Straight over the rail… drag a wash cloth behind on a rope, use it, drop it back in. Then you don’t mess up the bucket. Don’t worry, you’ll find the right perch.
Every boat I have bought...I always buy new heads...haha...solves some of the toilet drama..who doesn't hate boat head drama..hahah..Gary's face after the fix...hahaha...what can I say..hahah (love all the effort you all do like the drone shots and all of that)
Don't just let these moments glide past. Life is about collecting memories. A bucket list is only worth your time when you realize you need a bigger bucket.😁
I sailed around the world in the early '90s. A boat almost same size and configuration as One Life. Also had a very very similar philosophy and approach to blue water sailing. All this makes it super fun to watch your videos😊
Made my morning coffee when I saw your video! Nice spinnaker. Glad it came down safely. Enjoying your passage videos. Looking forward to the next. Thanks for sharing your adventures.
I watched a few scattered videos and how I ever stumbled across these videos I'll never know, but I went back to video 1 and binged watch this and finished 9/30/23 central time, Missouri and realized you two are in the pacific ocean at this time, wow! I feel like I'm right there with you. I wish you 2 all the best and cannot wait until the next video. Brook, you really do a great job with the videos. Gary, I can relate to you fixing everything, and Brook does her share, too. Safe sailing to you both.
This documentary of the crossing is definitely in the top echelon. Good story telling and cinema, you got me I’m going back to episode one for a binge, wahay.
It's great to see you guys interacting so well together, it can't be easy in such a small environment. ... all I can see is that its truly a relaxes team effort. I'm pleased to see both of you using safety kit when working with sails. I wish you continued safe sailing.
Glad you got into the ocean groove. Did the Atlantic South and North 4 times in the late 1990's and the ocean passages were the best. Time exclusively for yourself as we were max 3 people at a time.

Good seeing you again this week happy to see all is going well. All good here in OBX, dodged a couple potential storms and fingers crossed our luck continues. Hope the same for you guys. Ed
They make rubbery stuff you can put in cabinets and drawers. Might be a good idea to get that for the galley. Maybe the make it in silicone so you can put hot plates on it? Would help with the slide I think.

I saw a review of a yacht the other day where they commented that the counter really needed a ledge, you just showed us why! 3:43 and I'm talkative this morning. BTW, new sub, I'm really pleased, you two goofs bring a smile to my morning, what else in life can we really hope for?
Thanks for joining our channel, Michael! When we first bought the boat we were total newbs to sailing and I (Brooke) wondered why there were ledges on every surface. 😂 I quickly learned why. Cheers!
Hey guys - so cool that you are out there - shew you have done great - well done man.. Nice scuba diving ahead of you in FP... please what are your night watch shifts - and how is satrlink worong out.. So happy for you.. When the boss says reef - reef..
Glad to see you two healthy and still chugging along, mucho courage out there. I'll stick with my coastal cruising thank you. Some years back one of my sailboats had two heads. Always wanted to remove second one and make tool storage/sail locker out of it plus would get rid of a thru hull. But after seeing your trouble that might be justification to leave second head in boat. Good luck, of course great video.
Hey Jack! Thank you! We always thought having two heads would just be more things to fix....but when we were without one, we certainly wished we had two! Grass is always greener... 💚
So glad to see this update. I was getting very worried but found you on Instagram, so I was happy to see you got to French Polynesia! YAY! Great videos and I really enjoy watching them. I have to suggest to buy some eyeglasses chains/straps to wear. I lost my favorite sunglasses while sailing and my dad lost his eyeglasses, which was really bad as he has Astigmatism and made it harder for him to see. You both stay safe!
Hi Nancy! Thank you! Yes, our videos are behind real time. We are safe and sound! Appreciate the tip on the sunglass strap. Gary has one that he uses for his sunnies but we need them for our glasses!
I think Gary should call Home Depot to see about endorsement for their nice Orange buckets😂 great video about the fun of Ocean passages and head issues. ❤❤
It’s great to see and hear all about the day to day life on passages. Thank you for not rushing through this and spreading it over more than one video!
Love your videos guys, I seem to learn more from you guys than any other channel and it is very helpful as we are looking to set off next march up the east coast of Australia. I also love your boat works series as well. If you get to Australia maybe you could look us up. Keep the awesome videos coming, they are great.
Hi there! We are happy to hear you are learning some things from our videos. Good luck to you on your future journey. We hope to make it to Australia at some point! Maybe we will cross paths one day. ⛵🙌
the only problem with Composting toilets is where do you keep all that Biomass for them that they need? A Seawater toilet you bring in the Water, flush and dump, or holding tank while at Anchor. Only Reak issue is urine reacts with Seawater, and the pipework starts to build up a calcium lining, so soak them with Spirit Vinegar regularly to clean that off the pipes. I have heard a number of people saying to soak with bleach prior to doing the Vinegar soak, Sounds OK, but I haven't had a chance to try it myself yet. Spirit Vinegar is nice for removing scuffs and stains from Non slip decks as well, just brush on with a deck brush, leave to work then rinse off. Spirit Vinegar can be really cheap to stock up with, and if you close the seacocks, can freshen up the sink piping from Galley and sinks in heads too. Chlorine in Bleach (especially the weak standard stuff ) normally is gone really fast too. Friend's wife, ex Waterboard employee, cleans up chlorinated tap water by filling a jug, and popping it in the fridge overnight, and in the morning, Chlorine free water. 👍 Safe Travels and Fair Winds. Enjoyed the video showing vairioius issues and challenges you guys are facing. Interesting to hear about the different sail configurations you have considered and tried. Through this you guys continue to show a positive attitude and outlook. Thanks for sharing with us. All the best...

I'm curious, have either of you sailed across the equator before? Was there a ceremony, offerings to Neptune... to transform from Pollywags to Shellbacks... is it even official if a Shellback doesn't preside over the ceremony... lol
Most authentic sailing couple on YT right here folks.
Ah, thanks Andrew!! 💙

Love seeing just the three of you sailing across the ocean. Brooke, Gary and Gary’s epic beard.

Loved the sail plan talk, Gary! Thank you for talking about the rig & not being able to go wing-on-wing.
Good to hear you enjoyed that! Thanks!
Yes. Take the wind where it wants to go. Make it comfortable in the general direction. Its not the destiation its the journey.
It's 100% about the journey indeed!
When you talked about chafe protection, the word “baggy wrinkle” popped into my head.
Ah yes! They remind me of mop heads! 😂
Baggy wrinkles are not suitable for running rigging. Sisal and hemp being in short supply, inexpensive plastic boots are available for use on spreader tips.
