Sareri Hovin Mernem - Armenian Song

- Vocals & arrangement by Farya Faraji. This arrangement is mostly rooted in Eastern Armenian musical features prevalent in the Caucasus, as can be seen by the usage of the tar, a foundational instrument of Armenian music in the Caucasus. A duduk also accompanies the main melody. Whilst many if not most modern versions render the melody in the Western minor, I decided to keep the original traditional form of it in Maqam Bayat, with a microtonal second interval.
Armenian lyrics:
English translation:
'll die for the wind of the mountains
I'll die for the wind, I'll die for the wind
I'll die for the height of my beloved
I'll die for the height, I'll die for the height
I'm overwhelmed, I can't cry
I can't cry, I can't cry
I stopped, I can't come to you,
I can't come, I can't come,
I'm full of tears, I can't cry
I can't cry, I can't cry.

Thanks for yet another perfect arrangement, though there are a few things with the lyrics I noticed
Մի տարի է չեմ տեսել
Տեսնողի, եար, աչկին մեռնեմ"
My Armenian isn't great but I think it should be more something like
"It's [been] one year and I haven't seen [you]
Let me die, love, for the eye of the beholder"
I also think կայնել is supposed to be կանգնել, and similarly լցուել, լցվել. The latter two might be correct since this seems like an older form of the language. Anyhow, keep up the great work, and much love from Cyprus
Thank you❤
Thank you! Yes many songs were so called modernized, it's great to hear more authentic version, you doing a great job for all middle East people to regein unity at least in music.
We used to share an Empire but now we are far, greetings to Armenia from Greece ☦
There is no such thing as "sharing" an empire, only being culturally accepted as a minority in one
Indeed, my brother. But, the most important thing - we still share our Faith
@@somemeansfish8987 If you keep in mind that 16 Armenians were emperors of the Byzantine Empire (Eastern Roman Empire) it sure does sound like sharing

And thank you Farya for such a beautiful and heart-touching song. You are incredible!
Thank you Brother
Armenia is a nation with a profoundly rich cultural heritage 🇦🇲.
For me, Armenian language is one of the best language in the world, if not the best. Their talk, singing and songs are incredible. Really enjoyable ❤️
The only weird thing about Armenian are the letters
@@chris_afxon Yeah, because the Armenian alphabet is unique and not used in any other language!
Dear Farya, as an armenian I'm so happy to see our culture being represented this way on international level. We appreciate the amount of effort you put in these videos in order to create such masterpieces. Keep up the Great work!!! زنده باشيد دوست عزیز ❤

This comment section is warming my heart. Music is perhaps one of the few things that can bring peace and friendship. Please do more Caucasian songs! They are greatly underrated, and your interpretations are always amazing. Greetings from Greece.

Love Hayastan/Armenia from Bharat
One of the oldest surviving nation 😊😊
🇮🇳❤🇦🇲
India isn't really an oldest surviving nation for it to be one, it needs to be at the size of as it is today, before the subcontinent was divided with various empires, from West Asian, Central Asian, East Asian, to the empires ruled by ethnic indians. According to google, egypt is the oldest surviving nation, also known as mother of all nations.
I said one of the oldest? And Ethnic Indians are ruling the nation since the old times... @@leugleg
@@leuglegWell, Indian people have been inhabiting the Indus Valley for a loong time. Armenia is also pretty old though.
@@horrorgamestv6564 Well back then there wasn't a single identity as indian, the continent was/still is heterogeneous, people from various ethnicities lived there, so you can't really make a single identity about people of the subcontinent, nor you can say the subcontinent as a nation, because it was never united.
@@leugleg Well yeah you’re right, people often forget how ethnically and culturally diverse the Indian subcontinent actually is.

This melody is magnificent 👏👏👏
Thanks Farya Faraji for Armenian song, you are the best🖤 all of your videos are amazing ❤
I remember listening to this song on repeat on the bus when I was in love. I cannot imagine a more beautiful song, nor can I separate from it despite the pain in my heart.

So beautiful and touching... Your voice is always brilliant.
God bless you man, thanks for this beautiful song
The best rendition I’ve heard so far. Farya is at it again.
Love how the photography always matches the feeling of the melodies you arrange. There is a feeling of longing and melancholy in this piece you are also able to capture in the images. I love watching your recordings for visual reference for my drawings.
The vocal chameleon is fckn on his shit. Delightful to see you and this channel thrive. ❤❤❤
It's a masterpiece
The melody was so healing, I don't know how to explain it. By the way, could you do something from Southern Albania next? It has preserved Byzantine elements like Iso-Poliphony and more. Unfortunately, Northern music, though beautiful, tends to be mostly associated with Albania, on an international level, since most immigrants tend to be from Northern regions.
increíble, gracias por esto
Insanely good!!!
My respect 🇦🇲✊✊
Thank you for sharing i enjoyed it a lot.
Armenia is one of the coolest places on earth. A history that intersects with Assyria, Babylonia, The Levant, Hatti, Persia, Greece, Turkey, Georgia and Russia.
Middle Eastern, yet Christian but also with an interesting Polytheist past, not unlike their Pontic Greek and Assyrian neighbors. Once had an elite that spoke Urartian and wrote in cuneiform
A rich musical tradition with a bard tradition that came from the Parthians. Home of the Duduk and Zurna, two of the coolest reed instruments
Survivors of some of the worst horrors known to man, yet some of the kindest people I've met
So beautiful!
Thanke you Farya ❤

Beautiful song and interpretation! So is the tar common to Iranians, Armenians and Caucasians? Which culture is the first known to have used it?
Iranians, Armenians, Azerbaijanis and Uzbeks are those who use it most commonly, with some minor occurences in other cultures here and there like Georgians. It's originally an Iranian instrument (cue the inevitable Azerbaijani nationalists who'll scream at me that it's not the case), but it's been adopted and even built upon and localised by the aforementioned cultures.
Azerbaijanis for example have some of the greatest masters of this instrument, and they've developped their own peculiarities; they and Armenians both have a smaller version that they play while resting the body against the shoulder
@@faryafaraji Excellent. Thank you for your response. I suspected Iranians were the originators, anyway.
Absolutely beautiful! Here is an idea you can make cover on epic for Gilgamesh in future
Btw have you ever considered making a song in tocharian? I think that specifically the love poem written in Tocharian B could be something that would fit this channel well.
Epic Armenian music about Tigran the Great would be great
