Every so often I get this craving for Malvani Food. And every so often I go out looking for restaurants that serve great Malvani Cuisine.
This time I am in Virar in a friend's restaurant called Malvan Cho Kalvan. 2 years ago we ate at Chef Pankaj's Nano Food Shack and now I found out that he has yummy Malvani Restaurant 200 meters outside of Virar Station.
So here I am in Virar eating the lip smacking Malvani meal.

I visited this hotel after this episode and God damm it was worth the drive of 70 Kms!
The fish was super fresh and the prices were extremely nominal. A surmai thali and a veg thali for my mom costed us Rs 450!!!! In Mulund, 2 sandwiches from roadside stall costs Rs 200 now!!

I love it when foods are served in banana leaves. Even in Kolkata there are some restaurants who serve in banana leaves.

I stays in virar, but never visited this place. But now I will. I always see, small joints like has more authentic and tasty food than bigger places.

We typically see clams/ lobster / mussels and crab being used in some type of soup ( bouillabaisse/ gumbo Or Caldeirada de peixe) but to cook it in robust curries and sauces that are tasty yet spicy is something new . Amazing . Love your coverage and narrative , keep on eating and sharing!

This malvani hotel has veryyy high prices of all foods. So it's unaffordable for middle-class and poor crowds to have it kunal sir. Please convey this genuine problem to the owners of virar malvan cho kalvan hotel.

Compared to other sea food restaurants it's very low price, affordable
Stop faking, it's not expensive at all. Come to Thane and eat malvani here to know what expensive is.
@@siddheshshivraj3534 it's expensive as compared.. It's Virar man.. Lotsbof options with nonveg ... Try other Restaurants in Virar...hotel Wadaval, Mamacha Vada, Aagri Katta, MM, Masa.. Very few examples yet serving since long in vasai virar.
Seafood is cheap only when it's stale....virar vasai n all coastal guys are blessed with fresh fish....I'm a fisherman so we know hw much hardwork goes on to catch those fish...ppl think these fish are readily available n for free in sea so should be cheap....i shud say plz do come in sea once

Kunal, it's a great video. Although it is far from Dadar, i think it is worth it. You had shell fish also called clams. But not mussels. Mussels are called Shinone in Goa in konkani language. In Marathi it's called kalwan, I think. I maybe wrong. In Goa when we go to a shack at the beach, they don't serve us indians. They only serve foreigners. I don't blame them. It's their business policy.
