    @sexypancake1 Год назад +433

    I used to work in a bakery for 4 years, and this is how I'd price it:
    - $65 starting price (it may not look like a very big cake, but it's VERY tall, and will serve a lot of slices).
    - Add $10 for the decorations (could charge more considering you provided more than one).
    - Add $10-20 for time/labor (which is a very modest amount, considering you're still learning and maybe spent a long time on the cake, but as you get better, you'll knock these cakes out faster).
    - Add another $10-20+ for a convenience fee (this can be anything from the fact that it was requested last minute, the fact that the area you live in may not have other bakeries, the quality/price of your ingredients, potential delivery fees, and the fact that you NEED to make a profit somewhere)...
    In the end, you could charge anywhere between $95 and $115 and still be within a normal range for a single tier extra-tall cake.
    For reference, our 6x10 cake (next size up) usually started at $125 for a plain cake with no decorations.
    Obviously, your city/geography will play a big part in how much you can charge, and once you build a loyal clientele and get more demand you can start charging more. It's all about reputation, confidence in the quality of your product, and of course, END RESULTS. This cake looks amazing!

      Omg this was so nice and helpful to have put all of this information together for her.i love seeing people help out.
      Let me share a story about my cake pop experience. I did it from my godson's birthday. Probably made about 50 to 60 cake apps from start to scratch and I quickly learned after it took me a total of about 16 hours to do everything keep. In mind it was mandalorian theme and each one of them was amandalorian helmet in chocolate which is probably way took me so long.but I am A. Novice and it was my very first time doing it. That's why it took so long. But my point to you is after trying not for my very first time. Yes? Definitely understand and see? The. Value and bakers and why certain things cost A? $100 $203100. Depending on? What you're asking for.cute and remind you're not? Charging a regular rate of minimum wage or $20 an hour for your cakes like the lady above. Adamized the details of what you would be charging and why.that is accurate. It was way worth it for me to do it for him but next time as my godson. I love him,but I will definitely be paying a Baker. Exactly what they're worth whether it's 102 100 or $300 for the value of the baked goods.because the time and effort that. A Baker puts in is a lot and excruciating especially when you're trying to get each in every detailed exactly the way the customer wants it. Period just charging yourself regular hourly fee and whatever the cost of the materials for the flower eggs etc. It's definitely not enough for all of the labor that actually goes into the bait goods and making sure that it is as fresh and moist as can be. When someone comes picks up their product. So cuto to you good job. It seems to give a lot of really good advice on here so hopefully that definitely flourish your business.and one thing I did see someone say before. Was you're not a bakery you're a home Baker and home? Baker spend more money than people at grocery stores or in and actual bake shop because they buy in bold and you don't. So keep that in mind.

      When I started selling cakes back in college. We usually divide the price base on the amount of that particular ingredient needed. If a 1 kilo of flour cost around 2 dollars and if the cake only needs a quarter then I divide that 2 dollars to four and the result will be the price I put for the flour. Then i do the same for the rest of the ingredients. After that, thats where I decide the amount of profit I want for a single cake. Also dont forget about the amount of electricity and gas for a single cake.

    $50-$60 would be appropriate for this kind of cake in the current economy. After all, it is fresh baked and custom made. You also should take into consideration factoring in the hours you spent on it from start to finish and the cost of your ingredients per cake. Don’t be afraid to price higher than retail because after all retail is a streamlined process made to be cost effective. I'm a baker and have been selling cakes since 3-4 years, so here's what I'd tell you; you need to weigh in the amount of each ingredient that goes into your cake and calculate how much you've paid, next comes your electricity, water etc bills that you'd have to take into consideration, then you have to charge for the labour cost like how much time and effort is going into the particular cake that you're working on, next you have to draw out your profit and charge for the type of packaging as well
    Hope this helps.

      Yes! She'll build up her client base charging lower and they'll understand if it's not 100% perfection. She can charge higher prices as she gets more and more referrals, and feels good about making a profit.

      Agreed. Technically this is a multi tiered cake, and you did a beautiful job right out of the gate, and the 45 is kinda low, but it might be okay given your area, costs of ingredients, your over head and time spent. Keep going, your doing great!! ( I am an ex pastry chef)Hint, call around to other bake shops and compare your items with theirs, and check out the restaurants too. People usually don’t mind giving out info for beginners.
