Oh I remember watching this show on TV in Montreal - my older brother was a Stray Cats fan, and this was simulcast on CHOM-FM in Montreal, so we turned on every radio in the house and had it blasting. We taped it on our new VCR (wow), I think I still have the cassette in the basement somewhere. As I recall, Honeymoon Suite was the opener. Great show, Brian is such a great front man and genius guitar player.
Great night for sure ...best concert of all time. Floors to the right. Massey was the best possible venue. Sound, size and energy. Still have ticket stub. I was sixteen that night. Love to go back in time for a night..
One of my earliest musical memories and one of the most vivid bonds I have with my older brother, who is a key part in shaping my musical tastes as a young boy. Thanks for posting this.
It was 1988 and I was in the Air Force and had JUST got stationed in Germany when I heard The Cats were going to be in Stuggart. I tried to get someone, ANYONE to go with me but everyone I asked declined. SO , with absolutely NO knowledge of the train system I found my way there. The place was called "The Longhorn". There was NO A/C and I was right up front getting crushed against the stage. Finally about 3/4 of the way thru, I squeezed my way along the stage and sat on a wall outside and could watch the rest of the concert from there. I got some great pictures and ended up going to see them again in Dusseldorf that same tour. I wouldn't trade those memories for ANYTHING!
Great story, that reminds me of a few concerts I went too. I only saw the Cats once, it was at a place called Canada's Wonderland, an amusement park with a concert venue called the Kingswood music theatre!! Great show. Thanks again for sharing.
Gosh! This is "video track" for that live CD we all dig since childhood! Don't know why but I've never expected to see it once! God bless RUclips and uploader! :))
the coolest rockin band ever...made big impression on me...the music the clothes, when they came out in 81. Was strange, I was going back , listening to the style of music that my parents grew up on in the 50's. Going to see Brian Setzers Rockabilly Riot in JUNE!
I got to see them live about a year after this(Feb 1984)...they put on an awesome show....got to meet (briefly) Brian Setzer and Lee Rocker back stage right before the show....both were very nice guys...
"If they made a new one, I would buy a new one." - Thanks to Setzer, you can buy new ones. He influenced the comeback of Gretsch in general, and the 6100 and 5100 series specifically. In fact, Gretsch made THIS guitar he's showing off as the Brian Setzer signature guitar.
Great concert! I believe I have the full show on VHS. Just need to grab a cable to hook the VCR up to my computer. The full set needs to be uploaded. The full soundboard bootleg set is available to download if you look for it. ;)
Does anyone know if this is the concert that was simulcast on City TV and Chum FM. I’ve being looking for that particular recording. This looks like it could be part of that concert. Professional production . Saw it way back when and it’s stuck in my mind ever since.
