@Leonardo Englishcom. Dear Mr. Budge. What a despicable fraud you really are! How dare you pontificate and opine such untruths and misinformation. How opinionated you are in your arrogant and misunderstood assessment, which in fact in tantamount to an insult to the Rivett and the Lucan family. Your spluttering, stuttering verbal diarrhoea served no point at all and was ill-prepared and inaccurate on numerous occasions. Don’t you know that up to 1960 ( after which it was abolished) all men had do National Military Service? This was what Lord Lucan was obliged to do. It is not the same as the Royal family who by tradition actually join one of the military forces. The piece of pipe found in the boot of the car was not the murder weapon but an identical piece of pipe no doubt placed there to incriminate Lord Lucan. Lady Lucan did not go to the pub the Plumbers’ Arms saying her husband had tried to murder her. Her actual words, according to police evidence were, “I have just escaped from a murderer! He is in the house. He’s in the house. He’s murdered the nanny help me !help me! Could you have the common decency, curtesy and professionalism to make sure you know your facts before opening your mouth and looking a complete and utter idiot. There were many other similar careless and sloppy errors. What preparation did you you do? It was like a 15 year old’s oral at school. I am sure that the Swedes will find you a most acceptable waiter.
Hi Luke! Thanks for this episode. I've never heard of this mystery before. Even though I'm not into crime stories much, I still liked this very dramatic and completely absorbing discussion with Alastair.
Thank you both for this amazing podcast. Alaister, you're a brilliant conversationalist, as usual. Your version of the story is really thrilling. Luke, thank you so much for this pleasure of listening to you both!
Thank you both alastair and Luke. I am old enough to remember this story which was known all over the world. You did not mention one of the reason why he did not want his body to be found. Beeing still presumed alive his wife and his children were not in charge of his considerable debts nor had to pay any heritance tax for the title. We must consider the fact that his family was not probably able to afford that. Carry on with these stories about english culture. It is important when you study a language to set it in the real social and cultural contest. Great Job as usual Luke. Take care
Luke, thank you for this episode. I am not into crime stories as much as some listeners of yours. The pleasure of listening to your guest and you speaking your native language is what attracts my attention. You probably cannot imagine how infiffetent people from other cultures can be to horrendous things like this crime just because such things are becoming more and more part of our life: faked deaths of rich people whose money is deeply rooted in sufferings and blood of others. Anyway, I am even shorter than that upper-class aristocrat from who was mistakenly identified as that killer, I am a bit younger, and I wish I could speak abit like a an upper class man. By the way, Luke, would it be OK for you to show the difference between your wonderful English and theirs? On different levels of the language, if possible. Thank you for reading my comment.
I read about Lord Lucan "affair" some years ago. Listening this Video has been very entertaining (and helpful) in understanding the whole case. Thanks so much for your dedication. 👍
Thank you both for this interesting story on those facts. So sorry this man scape from justice but isn’t rare, right? Very nice way to learn English. Thank you so much!
Wow! I had never heard about Lord Lucan till today. This might very well be a story up to Agatha Christie's standards. I did really enjoy it. Thank you both.
Hello, Luke. That was a very interesting episode. I hadn't heard of Lord Lucan before. Has a film ever been made about him? I had forgotten the difference among public, prívate and state schools. In Argentina state schools are called "públicas", paid by the citizens' taxes. Thank you and Alistair for your kindness. Bye!
Hi Luke, I hope you are doing fine, I suggest considering a podcast with "Ms. Sara Mendes da Costa", who, in my opinion, has one of the sweetest and most beautiful British voices I’ve encountered. I'm unsure if she's still active professionally, but it would be interesting to explore how she is coping with the arrival of the AI and her Portuguese heritage as well. I'm a native Spanish speaker, a regular listener of your insightful webcasts. A fan of British English, and an amateur translator from English to Spanish and Portuguese, currently living the impact of AI. Thank you for your dedication to teaching the beauty of British English to the world, and I appreciate your continued cordiality.
Great story ! I heard it some time ago from one of my friends who's unfortunately no longer with us and who used to tell me lots of interesting and fascinating stories and anecdotes related to British culture, history and politics He was a bit of a character and maybe a bit of a snob as well lol but interesting personality nevertheless Used to travel a lot and lived in countries like Germany, Japan or New Zealand and I have to admit every time we had a chat I picked up some useful vocabulary and phrases from him and I will forever cherish those great conversations we had in the past !
Thank you ,Mr.Luke and Mr.Bach for this still.unsolved murder mystery ..If Lord Lucan actually intended to kill.his wife ,what a twist it had become .An innocent victim.the nanny had to die .How dreadful for the children of the marriage .l wonder how they overcame the humiliation._the father having dissapeared and a murder in the basement of their house .Ieaves l wondering where the children are and what they are doing .The wife's miraculous escape .Her time hadn't come to go but the nanny was destined to her fate .Sad .Very sad .Good night
That was really very intetesting, but i was wondering why Alistair could not speak fluently. The stuttering way he speaks is kind of disturbing for me. Or is it just Luke, who speaks excellent good...?
@@vargajudit1984 Unfortunately, my English isn't good for noticing such things. But if it's so, I think it's because we compare Alistair's speech with Luke's that is not right. Luke works more in long-length and improvisation direction (when he speak with someone for example), whereas Alistair records short planned podcasts.
ok...this case is very clear...lord lucan had an affair with the nanny...his wife veronica caught them while having fun in the kitchen and killed the nanny...lord lucan was afraid and disappeared forever. he is living somewhere in japan now with another name. he is 90 years old. he is very healthy because he is exercising judo every day. for sure this is the true story. 😇
Some correction here. Lady Lucan hired killers who killed nanny and her lover Lord Lucan dumping body in English canal. Then they phonied assault at Lady Lucan...
I swear blind that I heard Luke saying 'basking in the streets' at 1:13, 'at first pass/listen', that's because, I was still unfamiliar with the term 'busking', tbh I had never heard it 'fore.
Hmm sorry for being toxic here but this guy doesn't sound like an almost 500-episode podcast owner. So many pauses, repetitions, unnpleasant stops in order to find another word, junk speech I'd say, idk if it's a correct way to say it. Or maybe he was just scared of you Luke 🤣 I'd be nervous if talked to a legend. What do you think about his speech? Is it a common and natural way to speak like that?

Hi… happy to follow your classes
I like the real anecdotes, which can get me to know the real life of aristocracy.😊
Listening to this quest is such a pain, with all the em... and eee..... But when Luke starts speaking, the pain just melts away.
I hardly notice and plus it's real life conversation and we would come across very often.
I agree about Alastair. It is good to listen him when he is prepared( for example in his podcast) otherwise listen to him is very difficult
Your voice is very beautiful. Thanks 😊
