Brian McAlpine is the guitarist in the wheel chair. Besides an outstanding musician also a very kind person. I love Psychotic Waltz. Their music puts me into a sort of trance. Love them!
Last two songs off this album - "Freakshow" and "Butterfly" - redefined for me what should be most innovative and technical prog metal back in the days. For the first time I had ever heard a flute in metal song to be on a par with a guitar and Buddy Lackey is Ian Anderson of prog metal. This is from a Dream Theater fan...
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! This is my all time favorite band (just a bit up on the line with many others) and this song in particular have the best twin solo (or one of the bests) I ever heard! Dan Rock and Brian McAlpin are over the top here! It is a shame that band with four ABSOLUTELY AMAZING albums (and fifth in the row, scheduled for 14.02.2020, which you should preorder as I did :) ) is soooooo under rated...They have the best debut album, they have the best second album, they have the best third album and they have the best fourth album! I hope, and what I heard from their new song, they will have also the best fifth album! Thank you again and greetings from Bulgaria!
One of my favorite bands ever. They are from my hometown so I have even more appreciation for them in that regard. PW has been such an overlooked band in the metal community. I do know they have more fans in Europe than they do in the states. Every member of this band are insanely talented.
Psychotic Waltz is a very impressive band. The guys were at the origin of the prog-metal, like Sieges Even and Watchtower. I think without them the progrock-scene would never become such interesting and diverse, but, like the others two pioneers, Psychotic Waltz had a difficult path and now, unfortunately, is almost forgotten. Dan Rock, the guitarist, by the way, after the death of PW as a group has made two very impressive instrumental solo-albums with a high influence of a space-rock . Devon Graves, the vocalist, started his own project - Deadsoul Tribe, a lite version of PW.
This band was at a the highest level with Forbidden, Vicious Rumors Machine Head & others right as Metal was waning in the early 90s. I'm so glad I discovered this now bcuz there's just nothing that compares....kinda like Mercyful Fate in its own mystic category. Dead By Wednesday is my other missed discovery of now that I'm thankful for
The guitarist you asked about was actual two guitarists. They both were playing almost the same lines. If you pay very close attention, or see them live, they play that 'solo' and last verse in tandem. The only difference is they have slightly different guitar tones. As someone else mentioned they just release their single in over 23 years today. Hopefully they will get the recognition they deserve as they influenced many bands back in the day.
Brian and dan are not playing the same lines and thats what makes it awesome. Some parts they obviously are but other then that mostly its harmonizing .. not a simple solo by any means.. thanks to them reuniting in 2011 there is good footage of them playing this solo live
The greatest band.. any and every prog or metal head and even music lover should listen to a Social Grace and into the ever flow albums through headphones and hear the masterpieces these guys created long before others and fancy digital recording
This is Brian Mcalpin guitar, Dan Rock Guitar, Devon Graves vocals, norman leggio drums, ward evans bass... Dan Rock plays the heavy vibrato solos with wah at times and Brian is the heavy groove type.. both together are the best dual guitarist band
Wow props to you guys for giving in depth reactions most tubers react then at like "mkay we done" you guys say what you liked and everything. Good job. Can you react to put your lights on Santana please or sick of you by Gwar please?
