- The message of this song is so awesome, i love it so much, and i love the artist as well, Amy Grant. God loves us no matter who we are, He doesn't care at all, as long as we do have an honest, broken heart in front of HIM....billions of angels will gonna rejoice....alright....finally, I got this video done, I've been having some issues with the video editor.....well, thank GOD now its okay ,,,, be blessed guyzzzz... :)
Jesus knows what it is like to have a broken heart. For some people it takes hitting rock bottom to finally cry out to the Lord to heal their hearts. For many People (including myself) it takes a broken, open heart to finally accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. When we become christians we become new people. We are all sinners and we all fall short of what God wants but yet God loves us still. His love is so amazing. Thats what I got from this song. We are his children.
I am so grateful to know that my justification and sanctification are based solely on the righteousness of Jesus Christ and that coming to Him honestly is a work of His grace. Jesus fulfilled the law and when we begin to think that we can do good to measure up we have lost our way. Thank you Amy for the beautiful words to this song.
The lyrics will touch individuals in different ways. Some folks will criticize the song while others will uplift it. For me it is a beautiful and powerful message that reminds us that our Heavenly Father hears our honest heartfelt cries. Praising Him is Hallelujah is WONDERFUL but at the same time if we are emotionally burden and all we can do is call to Him in a cry,that is just as acceptable to Him because it is HONEST.
Driving home from my Mom and Dad's late one night I heard this for the first time on K-LOVE radio and started bawling and praising God outloud and I can say I did NOT care if anyone seen me! Jesis is MY SAVIOR and I love him so much! He's an awesome God!!

I think the song is great because our tears and miseries are beautiful to God because He wants us to cry to Him and give Him our problems, because He can fix everything we have going wrong. Yes, He wants to hear our praises as well, but He loves it when we come to Him broken because He can fix it.
I love this song! Makes me think of Psalm 34:17-18 "The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears, And delivers them out of all their troubles. The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, And saves such as have a contrite spirit." God gives grace to the brokenhearted and resists the proud. That's what I get out of this song. :)
I think alot of people are missing the point of this song...God doesn't want to see us in misery, He wants us to turn to him for comfort when we are in misery! When we pour out our miseries to Him, He is happy that we are turning to Him, He is not happy that we are in misery! He wants us to come to Him when we are happy, when we are sad, when things are good and when things are bad...He wants us to come to Him ALL the time!! I love this song!!
I love this song! I saw some of the comments about the confusion in the lyrics. Lyrics are always open for interpretation, but I see it as humility. This song to me means humbling myself to God in the darkest of times and that God hears me. I don't think it promotes sin or is irresponsible. I didn't grow up really knowing anything about God and I made decisions that devastated me. When I humbled myself and accepted His love, He saw me as a beautiful mess with a beautiful life before me. I cried out in the middle of the night and had tears of shame for what I had done, but He saw that as the beginning of my incredible journey. I know He cried for me but also cried tears of joy when I turned my life to Him. And some melodies are sad but filled with hope...
Some of the most righteous men in the Bible (ex. Moses, Elijah, Job) came to places in their lives where they literally just felt like dying and even asked God to take them. Yet it was in the midst of their most trying hours, that God showed Himself mighty on their behalf. Don't be afraid to be broken before God, because that's where He can give greater revelation and understanding.

I don't know much about the singers life or sins. Or if she has asked for forgiveness. But I do know that it is easy for us to praise God when life is going well. I believe this song touches me because it reminds me that it is our lowest times when we need God the most. At those low times we often feel like we do not deserve God. But we all do and that is hard to accept as sinners. Which we ALL are. So look at yourself before casting that first stone.
I love this song. It reminds me that there are starving and hurt men, women and children everywhere and that we are very fortunate to have roofs over our heads, good clothes to wear and an actual meal, not some disgusting old gruel. It lets us know that we are not the only ones here on earth and that there are others that need our help. Help save the people of earth so that hunger may vanish among the humans and other organisms that roam the earth and let the mighty earth rise yet again! Just l

This is such a beautiful song! God loves it when we come to him with our miseries as well as happiness. We find it easy to praise God in the good times. We often forget Him in the troubles we face. God invites us to come and talk it over with Him.... Both the good and the bad!
When I heard the lyrics:"a soilders plead not to let him die" I thought I'm going to the army and I thought hey that's me and cried tears of joy wow god is amazing to all of us!
I have proven this to be so true It trumps religion. It is how to reach God and how God reaches us. He must hear our cry and when he does he comes running. Amy Grant probably knows what she sings about. So glad she is still at it

Love this song and the message of grace it gives. I don't understand the viciousness of the responses below. Where is your love? Your forgiveness? The anger and judgement that spews forth from your replies weakens your testimony. I am a born again believer and do not believe these come from a Godly perspective. Forgive 7x 70. Judge not. Guess these words are easily forgotten, and only certain ones remembered. Love you Amy.
If you don't understand this song and can't see beauty in it please read the Psalms of Suffering. (Psalms 16, 22, 40, 69) God can use even the unbelievers or those who have wandered from His side to speak to us. It is not our place to judge. Sometimes when we are going through something difficult, the only thing that comes out is tears and moaning but the Bible says that is the Spirit of God interceding for us (Romans 8:26) that is more beautiful than any song. That is the message I see.

that's true god hear the honest cry of breaking heart(truly repent) but if you still commit the sin over and over again. god will strict and discipline you , clean your life so you could like him.that's process of sanctification. No one else have more grace like God because god not want us in the eternally hell. but rules of God still remain

There is nothing better that evil would prefer than to get into your mind and release that emotion. Remember; God loved us so much he gave us free will but with it comes temptation. But we are stronger than that right! Thus here is the verse I read to get me through

We are not to jude but to pray. Only God knows where her heart is. Be slow to speak & slow to become angry. If Amy is in error than God will deal with her. No matter what we should feel sorrow and be depply sad over people who are in sin, not condemn them. We must pray that they repent and be restored. So l let God judge on Judgement day. God will not cast out those who truly cry out to Him, it's the sick that need a doctor. He came to seek & save the lost. Trust in Jesus not in man.

People misunderstand the message. It's not that God loves to see us suffer. What He loves is that we are sincere in asking for forgiveness. What sounds like a melody to Him is that WE ARE ASKING HIM FOR HELP AND PEACE. HE LOVES IT THAT WE ARE ASKING HIM AND CALLING OUT TO HIM! IF WE CRY OUT TO HIM THEN THAT MEANS THAT WE ARE THINKING ABOUT HIM AND THAT'S WHAT HE LOVES. A lot of you are relating this to your children. ok no none of us would enjoy seeing our kids cry but it's not that. Wouldn't you love the fact that your child is crying out for help to YOU and not hiding the pain or crying in a corner. wouldn't you love the fact that your child is crying out to you and only you with a sincere heart asking for help? WOULDN'T THAT SOUND LIKE A MELODY TO YOU? THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT AMY GRANT IS TRYING TO SAY ABOUT GOD WITH THIS SONG.

In response to the second comment under the video, which may have been ages ago. I think the melody in the cries of His children is in the fact that we need Him enough to ask for help.
No offense, guys, but who said melodies were happy? I think it's saying that God listens, and helps us. I think they're saying that he's ALWAYS there to here to hear them. No matter how much were self-pity we're pouring out, he's always there.
oh yeah and to everyone bagging out Amy Grant.. You have NO right to judge her.. God alone has that right... And no matter what she did God is ready to forgive her. And before you condemn someone, take a minute to stop and think about your own life.. You're not perfect either.. And altho you yourself may not be guilty of adultery or whatever you are accusing her of, God says that whoever breaks one commandment is guilty of breaking them all. Some of you need to take a look at Matthew 7:3-5

Suffering is not optional, what you do with it is. Look at some of the great saints of the Bible, God didn't stop loving them or turn away when they fell. The point is, when you suffer (and you will) you call to God for help. Just like earthly parents, we love it when our children come to us for help when they are in pain. God is Great and always there for us, in good times and bad.

She "quivers" (earthquakes)and throngs of "sadness" (tsunamis) washes over her. Anger that has "boiled" (volcanoes) inside her is released and she "exhales," (tornadoes, hurricanes) a breathe of futility. She responds to the negativity we create. But Love emanating from us and Creator, heals her and us. Metaphors of course, for things happened before man's appearance.
@yeeeaaawhooo Finally, you imply that wailing is never better than a hallelujah. However, I believe that when a person is wailing in repentance, as demonstrated in this song, this can be better than a hallelujah. Luke 15:7 says "I tell you that in the same way (as the shepherd that finds the lost sheep and rejoices) there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.

@SamWiseGingy Well then, faith is believing, and that comes from hearing the Word of God, believing isn't seeing, and that can be proven on any nomal day, not just in Biblical context, or the Supernatural context. For example, how do you know the wind is there? You can't see it, smell it, or taste it, so then how do you know if it's even there? You know its there by actually feeling and seeing its effect on the surroundings around you, and so hensforth, its the same whenever it comes to faith:)

The way we respond to those who question, shouldn't be sharp, but loving. Then, if they still reject your offerings, say "Peace and Love be with you"...mean it, then smile. In your heart, pray for them, yourself and our human family. Your actions speak louder than words. Love&Light
When you read the Psalms and Job, you see misery being poured out all over the pages...often I go to them when I am in my deepest sorrow and grief and loss (many losses recently). My husband and I are in some very gritty ministry, and it helps people to know they can pour their hearts out to God and he hears them.
And please, unless you have confronted Amy personally with these accusations, you are not acting Biblically, and you are slandering her.

Woops... I kind of worded what I last said weird. God doesn't condemn you to hell, your sins do. So if you don't except Jesus and His gift of eternal life than you will go to hell. Committing adultery, though, won't send you to hell by itself. It is a sin, just as bad as any other. Jesus came to save of from EVERY sin, adultery not excluded by any means.
@SamWiseGingy I believe God loves us.I believe the world has been corrupted by original sin and this is the cause of natural disasters and evil(Rom 8:18-22).I believe God will take away all disasters and sin when Judgement Day comes and Christians are taken to a New Heaven and a New Earth (Rev. 21:1,4) where there isnt suffering and death.If God were to take away all the sin and disasters in the world now it would be Judgement Day. However,God wants as many as possible to be saved first 1Tim2:4
@yeeeaaawhooo As for Heb. 6:4-6, Get yourself a Scolfield Reference Bible, and you will understand that this passage is NOT refering to losing one's salvation. Reference 1Cor 9:27 where Paul is speaking again of service, not salvation. I have listed numerous times for you all the scriptural references that say you can't lose your salvation (see the first chapter of Ephesians, the first chapter of Phillipians, and the first chapter of 1 Peter).
I take it that God loves to hear an honest plea from his children than a packaged hallelujah with no true repentance behind it. The woman got a divorce, she married another man they have been married more than 11 years. Perhaps her divorce is between her and God now the planet and her as it is none of our business none of us is perfect none can cast stones and perhaps we should deal with our own lives and journey with the Lord and leave others to theirs. He came to die for our sins, he is the only one that can judge. We are meant to spread the word of God the love of God the sacrifice of God, the enduring support of God. Personally I like this song I think an honest lullaby cry, prayer or song means a great deal to the savior because it is honest he doesn't like that we suffer, but we do sometimes for our own good and come out the other side better sons and daughters. That is my belief, you can take it or leave it as my walk with God is mine and I try very hard not tojudge or speak ill of others that is just me, you all must follow your own walk with him
Amazing song! It always touches ny heart when I hear it. It reminds me that God is not only your Savior, He is your best friend and he is always there to carry you! He is there when no one else is, he hears you when you call him, he is your shoulder to cry on. When you feel so alone, broken and you feel no one is there to hear you cry.... God is there and wants you to come to him no matter what you are going through!
Wow! I love the lyrics of this song. What makes it special is that even at those times when I am a mess, I am a beautiful mess to him. Even when I am covered in shame for what has been done in the past, that brokenness is better than a Sound Hallelujah.

I agree. I think this song is about turning to God whether everything is broken or everything is great. God doesn't want us to pretend to be perfect all the time, because He knows that that's not honesty. And if you have a relationship with God, you have to be honest, because every relationship requires honesty. It's not that God is happy when we're miserable. He's happy when we are miserable and we are willing to share that with Him, because He is the ultimate Comforter and He adores us.

@scienceistruthful GOD will always hear someone's distress of course. . . :) Eph 2:4 "But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy". His arms are always open wide to those who suffer as they come before Him broken and true.
