Seeing Kut-ku in Wilds brought a primal joy that only my childhood self would understand. I wonder if they'd ever bring back Hypnocatrice, he was the first real unique bird wyvern with his own attack animations. Qurupeco is still my favorite flying bird wyvern, just an amazing design.
I quite like Aknosom's design, the fact that it's basically a crane makes it feel like a believable explanation for the umbrella yokai. Plus, there are some wading birds in real life that use their wings like an umbrella to lure prey in, which adds to its design's believability.
Gypceros definitely suffers from having a backstory that was gutted, being an egg thief wyvern using its crest to flash and blind the parents before gobbling on the eggs.
I’ve always considered Garuga as a forgotten flagship, specifically due to how, as you mentioned, it was the only NEW monster in feeedom. Even having it’s own theme, despite that being a normal for some non-flagships at this point (thinking invaders such as Bazel or Jho of course), makes it excruciatingly painful to me for how he blatantly isn’t. Him being added during iceborne, the dlc that ONLY had flagships return pre-TU, makes him feel sold LIKE one, which just makes it a mental f-bomb on how THIS BIRD was the ONLY old non-flagship monster added. Don’t get me wrong, I adore how obnoxious Garuga is. It’s a guilty pleasure due to playing old games where he’s present seeing new hunters rage over his fight in Iceborne, when they don’t realise he’s MEANT to be a frantic migraine. Your attacks bounce, he never stays still, he has poison and fire to drain your health, he IS difficult and passes as an endgame fight because GARUGA IS MEANT TO BE A PAIN. It’s like someone getting mad over Tigrex’s running, he is one of the most well-balanced fights in Iceborne in my opinion because of how amazing his telegraph animations are, but people get mad because you get curb-stomped for expecting every monster should be Hunted the same way. Back on Garuga, he is easily my favourite bird wyvern, with Coral pukei and Aknosom being close behind, and I absolutely adore his IB hunt. All I can hope is that he’s present in Wilds, however Kut ku on their own wouldn’t bother me either since the lil guy deserves some spotlight whilst his bully got IB!
I love Garuga too, but I feel like the whole "he's meant to be a pain" doesn't sell well for most people, that's why. He's a fun fight if you like it at first, it's totally understandable why people don't. He's annoying. He's my favorite BW imo because of his design, it's just so epic. Purple coat, sharp wings, crooked beak, the antennae like ears in comparison to Kut-ku's radar ones, he's a super cool monster to look at, but the whole "Now you have to deal with poison, now with fire, now with even worse poison, now with high-pitch screams, now with wind-pressure, now with tremor!" Constantly is hella annoying tonight, even for experienced players. That's when I slap on the Evade Distance + Window 5 for that easy match-up 😤
About possible Gypseros inspiration as design and the way it fights as well as its weirdness: cockatrice. Believed to be hatched from chicken egg hatched by toad or a snake, both animals associated with swamps and being slimy (even if snakes are not slimy). Both toads and snakes are often poisonous(frogs) and venomous(snakes) which could explain Gypseros ability to spit poison. Cockatrice, same as basilisk, has the ability to petrify by just a look at someone - as we know, Monster Hunter universe makes believable monsters often taking from real animals to make kinda like spec-evo of sorts. Blinding could be for sure described by folklore as "petrifying"
I think Oceaniz used the term True Bird Wyverns with these types of wyverns. Though I'm not sure if he made it up or is using a term from various books or artwork.
In the book 'Dive to Iceborne' for the Scarred Yian Garuga entry the devs wanting to use both versions of Garuga so making Scarred a variant and the tempered version as a way to keep base Garuga as this powerhouse who can stand up to Deviljho.
3:05 Gypceros was inspired by the Basilisk, specifically the one we call the "Cockatrice". the Cockatrice can kill anything just by looking it in the eyes; Gypceros has a flashbang mechanism on its head which flashes anything that's looking, stunning it long enough for the monster to either get away or strike. the Cockatrice has a long serpent's tail; the Gypceros has a rubbery tail which it can stretch. the Cockatrice has very poisonous breath; Gypceros can spit poisonous saliva. those are the similarities. and its not the only monster based on medieval monsters. side note, you're not the only one who hates Gypceros: Ragegamingvideos hates him too (i presonally like him).
So we got ear birds, piece of trash, Hypnocatrice, Curupeco, Malfestio, Pukei and Aknosom. Not much to say the least, especially with everyone, but Malfestio and Garuga being early game monsters. Definitely would love a couple of birds of prey and potoo inspired monsters
I wonder when we will see a brand new straight up bird monster in monster hunter. It would be a nice mix up because we now have expected wyverns, leviathan and fanged beasts but image the surprise if we got some kind of hawk monster that was on par with Rajang and Deviljho to be the elder dragon rival of the sky.
Toridcless and Forokururu (which I call "Fleurnix") would be most welcome additions to the mainline series más would give their class some much owed respect. PS: Am I the only one who thinks the classification should have just be called "Garuda"? Bird Wyvern is just so lazy of a name
despite your insistence that gypceros should not be categorized as a bird wyvern i have not heard one compelling argument for why that should be. both yian kut-ku and yian garuga are.
Believe me, you really don’t. Getting charged at, poisoned, flashed, charged at again, stunned and finally getting charged at is not a combo I’d wish on my worst enemy.
Im a little dissatisfied with kut-ku coming to Wilds, I think the design is sloppy, and proportions ate too askew. I feel like he needed a bigger overhaul
its wonky proportions are what makes it endearing. i thought that the kulu-ya-ku, on the other hand, was a visually unambitious and uninteresting step backwards for the series.
Monster Hunter G and Freedom/Portable are not the same game. G released on the PS2 as a continuation of MH1. Freedom/Portable was a new game with the online town cut out that used most of the additions from MHG like all the added subspecies.
Pukei's design was actually partly based on the Australian Tawny Frogmouth bird. The classification makes a bit more sense once you compare the two.
oooh I didn't knew about this! I know about these strange looking birds and Pukei Pukei does share such similar head design!
I dont see it, Chief.
Ah, that makes the feathers feel a little more purposefull now that I know what inspiered it
@@dabo77777 The eyes and the wing pattern I think is pretty similar

I think Quru has a chance for the DLC

Tbh with how ugly gypceros is I would literally get paralyzed by just looking at it

I could just see Toridcless hanging in the Windward plains, basking ontop of a tall structure, spreading its wings for that solar power energy!
I really hope for a flying bird wyvern elderdragon
Finally, my beloved Yian Garuga!

Really hoping the next video will be about Fanged Wyverns....
1:20 "Or if they've gotten a little freaky with it and switched it up" 🤨📸
That HummingBird one and the one after were really cool. It would be cool to see them in Wilds, or the next game.
We need Qurupeco in wilds. It's perfect for that game
i think so, too.
YESSSS! THANK YOU FOR UPLOADING! I am losing the battle to short form content. I needed this. Thank you
Gypceros is the GOAT!
Fight me!
I'm kidding. He's a dumb joke, but I have a personal attachment to it

Congrats on 10k subs man
Me when gypceros doesn’t make sense as a “bird” wyvern because it’s like a turkey (a bird) 😮

Hang on, was that an archaeopteryx in the beginning bird segment?
@ThatAnthGuy
It’s an old artist depiction, but yes

"Can actually fly"
Damn that was violent 😂
Right lol. Some real life birds can't fly, I think he forgot that
Man I wish they'd create a new endgame bird wyvern, Yian Garuga alone can't carry the endgame bird forever.
Shoutout to flying bird wyverns. Gotta be one of my favorite genders.
Aknosom my fave crane
Bird up!

did i hear stalker music
The way you pronounce kut-ku and cuckoo gives me the vapors

I really wish they bring Gypseros back to wilds, been a while since I last saw my boi

NO.
Forgot about him also stealing your shit in the process
@@devranyilmaz9806 he really does. having only hunted 4th gen gypceros, he's not that bad, just annoying.

Malfestio looks like something straight out of MHO or MHFrontier. As someone who didn't played MHGU, I always thought this is not a main line monster.
Gypceros is also coming back in Wilds, it's been leaked already and people have been able to hunt it!!
Don't spoil things for other people please.
