I was just trying to do this same thing. PRINT commands work great but I cannot get it to let me provide input to commands like "INPUT X$", it just provides the input for me

Oh, this is a great idea! I didn't experiment a lot with it, but now seeing "INPUT X$" get me very curious to look into BASIC. I think it should grasp BASIC as a language to some extent at least, since there is probably a good amount of training data out there. I think I understood what you try to do, like when asking it to run the program, you would expect it to prompt you for the input (as part of the chat conversation). Mmmmhh. maybe it needs some more instructions during the initial prompt to make that happen? Maybe add something like "if BASIC requires or requests interactive user input, please ask me for that input" or something along those lines.

Why don't use ChatGPT directly with a Commore 64? ruclips.net/user/shorts583oQigeXyY

Thanks for the comment! I just tried and it still works. I asked it to show me the startup screen of a Commodore 64 in textual representation, and it also was still able to simulate running a BASIC program. Sometimes you have to interact and try a few times to get the wanted information from ChatGPT.
Let me know if you got it to work also?
It seems like “prompting AI” could be the next level for programming. 😀

@@stefanotorelli3688 I typed in exactly what was in the video, and I got the desired output. Not sure why it's not working for you.
