Nice video, there was some really good information here. Where I grew up in tropical Australia, we had weaver ants but we called them 'green ants'. They look the same as the weaver ants in your video, but they have a green coloured gastor. They are very aggressive and visual, but they are some of the most fascinating ants.
Nice job! I noticed you used olive oil as the barrier for the outworld. Is it as good as fluon? It’s just that fluon is quite expensive, and this cheaper alternative would be awesome.
Not as good buddy as you'll need to re apply every 2 weeks, depends on how big the colony. Olive oil not good on swarming specie like fire ants, as you'll need to re apply every day once they mature. 😭
Hey Dcolony! I doubt you'll read this comment, but incase you do, would you mind answering a question for me? Is there any long term negative consequences to inbreeding Diacamma violaceum? Sorry if this question is unrelated, but this species doesn't seem to be pretty well documented, so any and all information helps! I really admire your passion towards the hobby and how you're impacting newer keepers in this hobby! ♥
I'm not familiar with the specie buddy, but do you force the inbreeding to happen? Like what I reveal on one of my diacamma video before? Which is collecting a drone from your colony, then let it rest on a vacant testube set up for at least 2 hours then introduce it back to the colony?
@@Dcolony Yes, exactly like that. Releasing a male of the same colony back into the nest after waiting and allowing it to mate with workers of the same colony.
Hey, D colony do you remember when some people in your comments section were calling you cruel. (The Ant UFC video) Anyway, ignore those people, they think that they are right just because they have more people supporting their “anti - cruelty” movement. Love you D colony and I will always support you. 💪💪💪💪
Hello buddie and thank you for all ta useful tips and videos. Can you please tell me what those elastic rings that seal the tube connection so nicely are called and where can we find them?

As a literal ant, I approve.
Welcome to the channel buddy! 😁🫡
I wish they're common on my area too. 😢

They are very hard to keep, you need a lot of experience to make them thrive.
What country are you in? Philippines?
@@Antron_Edition Not really they are just ants

Thanks buddy! I don't mind them that much, they can share their opinion and I would respect that, but they should not push it to others.
@@Dcolony Agreed!

No problem buddy 👍, they're rubber grommet. I got them on Ali express.
@@Dcolony you are great, I truly appreciate it and love your channel and all this DIY stuff that you do.
halo my name is Fadli and I absolutely love ants
Thank you Fadli, welcome to the channel! 🙏
nicev
Thanks bud! 🙏
Why is the liquid in the water feeder at the beginning brown?
I bought brown bottles for liquid feeders that expose on bright lights buddy so algae won't easily form.
yes i knew this was the ant species in the net video ( becuase you comfirmed it hehe )
😁 thanks for tuning in buddy! 🙏
Reading the comments I noticed you’re from the Philippines! I was wondering if you have ever met AntsCanada before?
Unfortunately not yet bud 😭.
That’s so sad. I’m looking forward to seeing you meet him!
Do you think when you show the test tube you can put a point of reference like a coin so we know how big the ants are?
I'll keep that in mind buddy, but the workers are about 8 to 10mm. 🫡
When you make your nests what type of grout do you use
I use a local brand name ABC tile grout buddy, I showed it on some of my DIY builds before.
Do you have tips for these
They pretty easy to raise buddy, just the set up is a bit challenging.
I love this channel and would like some tips on starting my own channel
Just be consistent buddy. 🫡
Hey Dcolony! Is there intra-nest fertilization in Anoplolepsis gracilepis?
Yes buddy if you got lots of queen specially if unrelated to each other.
@@Dcolony Have your yellows started creating queens?
hey , do you have the link for the Terraium?
Nope it's DIY buddy.
are you a Filipino bc you mentioned long ago about the 9 mass starting on December 16 to December 24?
which is I think happen only in the Philippines
Yes buddy, I'm from the 🇵🇭 🫡
@@Dcolonyhow often do you have to apply the olive oil barrier
It depends on the colony size buddy as large colonies will try to get rid of it more often. For small colonies I do it once every 2 weeks.
Looks fantastic, but how come your ants are not escaping through the roof of your first formicarium?
I used olive oil as barrier buddy.
Hi I am a new ant keeper i have a yellow crazy ant colony can you give me some tips?
Is it raise from a single queen buddy? We got some yellow crazy ant vid on the channel.
@@Dcolony Yes from 1 queen
In my Country They can't be bought so I can buy them from you. They occur naturally in you.
I would love to if possible but So sorry buddy, but it's prohibited for couriers to ship live animals.
