It just doesn't give a lot of info or change in FFB for the tire itself. There is a lot of force coming thru, but its not related to the tire really. This is why the rear can be hard to catch. It only starts to become noticeable in the FFB once the rear is so far sideways that its pulling on the steering rack, by then with the edgy-er tires its too late.
I've also come from ACC, and weirdly came back around a week or 2 ago and now that I'm away from it, I'm so happy, I'm sick of the bullcrap setups, the tracks in acc feel so flat and boring. And when the news came out about the studio it prompted me and realised that we should be more then happy to pay for the base game and even the DLC, unless they have something like microsoft/EA/Riot/Tencent behind them they clearly rely on this stuff. Will also mention that the quality in my opinion is better then iracing, and if I wanted to partake in a season of iracing with these cars + tracks I'd be coughing up $100-$200 (not including sub), the value in this should not go understated. The "Mixed" reviews on steam are also not warranted, they see a game with "early access" and DLC and suddenly its cause for full meltdown. "Edit: ALSOOooooo LMU has insanely good netcode, there literally isn't a place in the world where I've had any bad netcode, and by that I mean you could be my neighbour or asia or americas wherever, I don't even notice.
Yeah, and for online...any contact in ACC results in cars being thrown off track...not the case in LMU. And I think you make a good point regarding buying and backing the title. I was super curious about LMU for a long time but until we know what's happening with MSG, I'm not sure it's worth buying. It's a shame because I loved RF2 FFB and physics and LMU seemed like the natural progression for the franchise.
Nothing is wrong with MSG. They've made cost reduction measures, they've gotten the expenses under control and they're rebuilding from LMU. And if they get into a strategic partnership or sale to a dev studio, it could port to console at some point and add revenue. They're also bringing some content over the coming months which will also boost cash flow. For the game to survive, people need to take a shot and buy it. It's not without it's problem or risk, but it is the best racing experience out there at the moment in terms of driving feel and physics etc. Literally miles ahead of anything else in my opinion.
Fully agree, I played LMU for a while and loved it, then I bought ACC because LMU got me into sim racing. I refunded ACC because it felt horrible after playing LMU first
I really enjoy the game, I struggle with the LMP2 cars new tire model and cant hold temps very well though. No problem with GTE or LMDh cars, any tips or things I could be doing wrong?
LMP2 is a very responsive car. Light and twitchy. What I find is the chassis has more capability than the tyre. This means that the car will feel safe going into a corner at speed, however the tyre may not be ready for that load. And usually any releasing of the throttle will allow the rear to raise very slightly, and the thing will snap. The 499P suffers from this a little too and the Alpine....and Toyota to a lesser extent. I haven't driven the LMP2 much over the past 2 weeks, so not sure on the temps... might try today some LMP2. But in general it is is an issue you can increase front suspension or damping, increase rear rebound damping, or add rear wing.
@@GSSimRacing I agree the chassis is definitely more responsive, in solo races I have no problems with heat. I can push near the maximum for the most part. I should have specified that my main struggles are with the ‘fixed setup’ Online Races. I have noticed some similar traits in the Hypercars as-well (mainly when the races are again, ‘fixed setup’) but nothing unusual or surprising like LMP2. And no heat issues either, mainly just weird characteristics of each car.. With LMP2 I feel confident in the Aero Package, but no matter how hard I lean on the car or over work the tires they will not stay warm online. Maybe it’s just the setup they provide being kinda crappy but at the most recent fixed event in Bahrain, with track temps near 50c I can only keep my tires warm for maybe two laps and then Im cooked and the pace falls off..
@@scum07k I know in the Le Mans special over the weekend, the Alpine Hypercar was heating tyres a lot, even on the straights. I think the weight pushing down on the tyre leads to a heating effect. I will try get some time in the LMP2 today or tomrrow and see if I find the same.
@@lucaszecat I think iracing does a bad job with implementing abs, and I think the lack of flat spotting is also a draw back. This, along with the tyre model is what keeps me from driving it too much for road racing. It needs a major update over the coming year, I hope it gets it.
I got the early access game, just saving some money to get the season update. I hope the game can survive this hole mess. ACC never done nothing about AI, so I drop it and for me LMU and Raceroom are the best sim right now for me.
I think it will survive, but it did appear that Motorsport Games needed to reduced costs. I think it may be a case that S397 is holding itself and the remaining motorsport games expenses afloat. I think S397 as its own studio is going to be fine. Motorsport Games was a mismanaged mess, although with their current CEO, huge improvements have been made. I just hope it has been enough.
Does anyone else have this thing where the game freezes if i stay afk in menus? Does anyone know how to fix this, it's honestly so annoying to not be able to race online.
The other day I done a reinstall of the game. I also have a habit now of verifying the steam files after every game exit, before turning off my computer. Also, ensure no overclocks. Since doing this, I have not had any crashes. And I have been doing a fair few races over the last few days. Before doing this, I'd have had a few crashes.
@@GSSimRacing i must admit i do have a vram overclock for less sttutering. But i will keep checking the game files then. I do that sometimes and i always have exactly 8 missing, but i was sure it's a bug.
my recommendation by playing rfactor2 for more than 10 years now is: Always prioritize FPS instead of graphical quality, for me 120fps is the minimal to feel smooth, so I put a full grid offline and do a race start looking to the fps, if it's lower than 120fps I reduce the graphical quality, this way you'll never have any performance issues.

It would be likely that any profitable part such as the S397 team, is exactly where the value is in any sale. The company has nothing else of value. Driven Lifestyle need to release grip on it though. They have a huge controlling stake due to the share structure....like, 80+% control.
@@GSSimRacing Hopefully, whoever buys it will keep them on board. Who knows, they might end up with a bigger budget and be able to make LMU better in less time.
Yeah, I think we need to remember that sim racing is a very niche thing. And MSG were behaving like a larger corporate in many areas. This led to a lot of overspending and waste.
@@GSSimRacingUnfortunately, I think you're right. The corporate environment is notorious for financial mismanagement by people who overestimate their importance. Well it is about 75-80% baked. Some stability and features are needed, but other than that, the game is fantastic. The hype with people is the actual driving physics and realism. This is what is grabbing people in at the moment. And having the WEC license with a platform like this...well, it should be amazing. iRacing have had years to deliver a realistic platform to use their licenses...and failed. I hope at least that LMU take this chance.
The games average daily playerbase is down almost 75% of what it was during its initial month of release. You say the playerbase is only growing, but outside of its content releases it hasn't really changed at all. We're talking about a game that globally averages less than 400 people playing. To think that Microsoft or any major console company would have this game on their radar is being almost delusionally optimistic. The game is lacking basic features like track IR still. It's AI is suicidal as you unintentionally showed, there still is no safety car or full flag rules of the series it's supposed to be simulating. There is no career or even season championship, something that if it went to console would 100% need to be implemented and working properly. It is not at all being over dramatic or "misinformation" to warn people who are thinking about buying the game that it may never be finished. The company is up for sale and has been in the red for over 12 months, turnovered it's leadership, sold off multiple licenses to avoid insolvency, and has now laid off a large portion of its developer base. Like be honest, yes you love the game, but there are major red flags that put the future of LMU into question and to argue otherwise is ignoring reality.
@@DustySticks Yes, LMU's player count has dropped since launch, with around 500-600 players online daily, but that's normal for most games after the initial hype fades-especially niche simulators. What matters is that a solid community remains, and they’re invested in the game. It's true that some features like TrackIR support and a career mode are missing, but the devs are actively working on updates. These may not be flashy, but they’re improving the core gameplay, and many games add features gradually, even after launch. As for the company’s financial issues, restructuring is pretty common in the industry, especially with smaller studios. Saying the game might never be finished is a bit of a stretch. They’re working on securing new investments, which shows they’re not giving up. And while LMU might not be a massive hit right now, games with smaller, passionate communities can still catch the eye of big platforms like Microsoft. Niche titles have succeeded before, especially with steady updates and community support. So, it's not as hopeless as it seems.

You're completely under selling the financial troubles MSG is in and their situation is absolutely not "normal". They are a publicly traded company. They have been bleeding money for over 12 months straight, burning millions each quarter. They lost the rights to IndyCar because their failed to deliver a IndyCar game within the given time frame IndyCar wanted. They just laid off 24 employees which they said was about 39% of their work force, so they now have less than 40 employees.
After the latest VR update, I now have a legit sim to get my Sebring fix!
Sebring in LMU is perfection! The constant bouncing is bad, but also...Oh so good!
In Niche sim racing games, it really is on the player base to support the development work. It is true of any software, but if the player base is small it becomes even more important.
I refunded ACC because it felt horrible after playing LMU first
I came so close to uninstalling it last week. I have almost 2000 hours in ACC and have no intention of going back, sadly. LMU is just levels above.
But the brakes are something else ! iracing is till more pleasant to race for me.
Have you tried Rennsport that is also great physics & FFB
No, I have a key though but never installed it. I may give it a shot. From what I heard though, it was a bad implementation of the old RF1 engine?
Does anyone else have this thing where the game freezes if i stay afk in menus?
Today i was in an online race and as qualifying ended i had to wait for everyone to finish their laps, and as i was waiting the game froze, i had to alt f4 and i couldn't race.
It looks real.
Yeah the graphics on this one are pretty good and the processing effects is using Yebis, which I think is the same used with AC Content Manager.
Which graphic card do you use? Any advice to not get issues when having settings on ultra?
my recommendation by playing rfactor2 for more than 10 years now is: Always prioritize FPS instead of graphical quality, for me 120fps is the minimal to feel smooth, so I put a full grid offline and do a race start looking to the fps, if it's lower than 120fps I reduce the graphical quality, this way you'll never have any performance issues.
@@kanolightracer5 my GPU is a Nvidia 3090. I've a i9 12900k and 64GB ram. I did a clean install of the game yesterday and ecerytime I close the game, I verify the files in steam. So far, this seems to be working for me.

I thought game was already dead and had no chance of getting better, i need to stop trust those RUclipsrs we all know who they are. K
Nah, not dead. Here is a video on the financial position of MSG, but bear in mind, my estimates near the end of the video are very low, so things are even better than this video suggests. ruclips.net/video/QRluHigFczU/видео.html
Have they added visual crash damage yet?
Yeah, well, I lost a wheel last night and wings can come off, body work get banged in etc. It was always there to my knowledge.
I wonder if the LMU developers are included in the sale. I fear for the future of this game if they aren't.
A successful title in a niche market like sim racing requires investors to be passionate and involved in the product, and not just see it as a cash cow.
@@brett22bt If they get on top of the cost side of the business, they will do just fine. The problem is, their parent company allowed the license purchases to try take out iRacing....and failed at this. Doing this will alienate the entire player base. I think they have learned their lesson in this area...at least I hope.
I love iRacing and you’re absolutely right. The tire model is shyte.
Yeah, it needs major adjustment. The issue is that some of the hardcore iRacing guys will defend it to the last and say the latest model change was a "game changer" and so on. It is still so far off the mark, sadly.
I love LMU but it is not a complete game. Still running GTE as an example.. If they want to be THE LM game, they have to be close to current imo.. I also feel like the game is just a base of what it should be.. It literally is missing all of the important features.. My friends and I like to do private lobbies and mix in AI to fill out the field and this game is missing all of that. That's just to start... I love it and I hope the best for it but I'll be sticking to my other games until they get what I need to enjoy it fully into the game
@@EXLDayzeSRS most racing games run 6 months to 1 year behind. LMU delivered the full 2023 season, cars and liveries. It has the 24 season liveries on the Hypercar and LMP2 liveries. @@EXLDayzeSRS yeah I hear ya. It's still the best physics we have available at the moment and the online player base is pretty decent and clean. Also keeping a close watch on AMS2 and their 1.6 drop.
@GSSimRacing I do like the physics but it's not a complete experience.. Plus a DLC season pass that cost more than the game did and the game isn't out yet.. It's hard to sell friends on buying into that when we have zero chance of playing together.. I did enjoy racing online but I absolutely despise the LMP2 in this game.. Maybe it's me.. I am all over the AMS2 update because that's the game that all of my friends play together.. iRacing is too expensive for them so we all compromise and use AMS2..
@@GSSimRacing just tried to do some racing today and while the physics are good, the rest of the game has so much to work on.. It feels like all the problems from rfactor2 have been ported directly into this game..

They are facing uncertainity because they are so damn expensive to buy and for equipment in todays economy....games are for fun not for this pricey indulgence
I think the game is 30 dollars or Euros. For a game, this is not too expensive. Although getting into sim racing can be quite expensive overall, when you factor in sim racing gear.
Anything Microsoft has had a hand in has gone to shit or put the OG devs out of business.
It will be interesting to see if a partnership is struck, to what extent the devs are allowed to continue with their work. In such case the ownership would not mean integration...which could be the desired outcome.
I tried this sim and liked a lot about it, sadly the VR is bloody terrible and I ONLY race in VR so I got a refund. It's unlikely to be improved now.
I did see one video of a guy prefering the VR now to the AMS2 VR. I was only watching it today. It might be worth doing a check of recent videos. I know there have been some guys racing in VR recently. Worth a look.
I only play single player in sims, and I totally disagree that it's a masterpiece.
Why do you disagree?
I only play single player as well. Give it time, the AI hasn't been overhauled yet for all classes and tracks. GTE at Monza, first 3 laps was the most intense racing I've ever played. As the grid spread out they got a bit dumber and inconsistent.

@@tomtabone7949 I do think the LMU playerbase tends to be quite clean, certainly compared to ACC and AMS2. I think this is because there are reprecussions for rammers and people intentionally taking people out. The AI still need a little speed balancing in some corners, for sure.

Your credibility vanished when you mentioned forza as a sim.
@@GSSimRacing 500-600 Is nearly doubling steams charts average players. The last 30 days it's been just above 350 players. You're peeking at just over 600 players, which in and of itself wouldn't be a big deal for a sim title, but when the company is publicly traded and hemorrhaging money it is.
They sold their Nascar license in order to get an injection of cash after their Nascar game failed miserably. They lost the BTCC license due to their inability to produce a BTCC game. They've abandoned rF2 development because they had to put all their eggs into the LMU basket to avoid a similar fate that they had with their IndyCar and BTCC licenses. They just laid off 24 employees which they said was about 39% of their work force, so they now have less than 40 employees. MSG is in dire straights, they are not looking for extra funding, they are looking for someone to buy them out. That is a huge difference from "looking for additional funding".
