This is the basis for channel estimation in an OFDM standard like 4G LTE. This is why one-tap channel equalization works. It took me a while to figure that out. Gives me a bit of comfort to see that there are others like me who took their time to understand this apparently simple thing!

I'm not sure if the math helped visualize it in this case. Maybe graphically selecting points and showing the added points, might work better. Maybe?
