I see you are recommending 5w40 engine oil, even for other cars which need 5w30 engine oil as standard. 5w40 would be more viscous and would add more effort to be moved around in the engine. Also i read the internal temperature would increase. so for a diesel engine should i still go for 5w40 though recommended oil is 5w30?
It not a black and white choice, usually there is a range of temperature and grades of oils that can be used in the user manual. Hotter the climate a more viscous oil is recommended, and less viscous for cooler climates. These days honda/suzuki recommends 0w20 as a standard, but you can chose your grade according to vehicle usage conditions. Thicker the oil, reduces economy marginally but provides more protection. It's a trade off, for india 5w30 seems to work best, to reduce engine noise, provide protection and gives good fuel economy. Unless you live in a place where temps go below 0.
