Omg Ritchie you are a genius. The tape keeps the vinyl from stretching in the recessed area and forces the stretch into the flat area. There is a reason you and Pate are my favorite installers!
Pulled this method off last week and looked like a fook'n pro. So thankful for the knowledge. I'll send you an 8th of Cannabis if you're in the NE area. Thanks
Until I see a van that's not pulling out of the grooves a year or so later, I'll keep cutting and dropping. I've seen a ton of how to apply vinyl in grooves videos over the years and have yet to see one where they go back and see how it's holding up. If you look at transit/sprinter wraps going down the road you see 2 options in the grooves, pulling out or cleanly cut and dropped. You never see cleanly sunk in the groove unless it's brand new and just got wrapped.
Good. This is good.. lol. So, I am a certified wrap artist and a 3M factory certified installer... I will say this. It depends on the film and time of year/and or/ ac. but, I know and can teach how to properly install the recessed areas. And, how to heat and push and post heat. It's just art. But I'm kinda good at it.
@@daviddrake399 all deep recesses pull out after a few months unless the vinyl is liquid laminated. I’ve been wrapping since wraps were an idea and have all the certifications. You’re not getting it to stay in the grooves for longer than a year no matter how good you are. Especially if you have overlaps/seams. I’m not saying it will all tent out, but a few spots always will, even with perfect post heat and primer.
Been doing this on vans with success and without lifting. However I do find it very tricky. Only enough heat to actually discolour the 'bridge' area of the vinyl seems to work for me to get the vinyl to go in, any less heat doesn't seem enough. Also large bubbles seem to form in the bridge areas after heating it into the deep recess whilst trying to squeegie the 'stretched' area on. Which isn't a problem as they press/ heat or pop out but I can't stop the large bubbles forming. Any tips on that ?
WOW, just WOW, Ritchie, that was a mind-blowing hack \, that you so much. Do you have any tips or hacks for wrapping the front corner of a 2016 Jeep hood? THANK YOU........
