I totally ageee with you about liking a detached tongue! I have purchased 2 pairs of the untraboost parley versions, because they have the detached tongue. Far superior fit and feel! I do like the 4DFWD also but tight across the top
Orginal version of 4DFWD...very comfortable shoe, however they only lasted about ten months before coming apart on the top of the shoe around the toe area....both the left and right shoe! I had washed them about 4-5 times in my washing machine, which seemed to be the reason for them coming apart! I spoke to Adidas, but they would not stand behind the shoe since my purchase was over six months old (ten to be exact). They offered a token 30% discount on the purchase of my next pair of adidas shoes. However, it's not difficult to find this type of discount for online purchases of Adidas running shoes!
It wasn't your washing machine. I bought a pair of the orange 4DFWD 2's last year to use for some light jogging exercise 2-3 times a week, at about 8 months they started to tear along the toe box area by my big toe, right below that rubbery gray stripe. Not only that, but the inside and outside edges of the toe box also have these random tears forming in them as well. I hope the version 3 holds up better, I'm waiting for a sale to get a pair, because beyond the tearing they are the most comfortable and form-fitting running shoe I've ever owned. I love these shoes like you wouldn't believe.
@@redstang70 I don't think it's on purpose. I think they wanted black soles for some colorways and couldn't make black material as soft. I have a pair of 4DFWD 2 in black/white, like in the video, and love them. Recently got another pair of 4DFWD 2 in black/grey on sale - really love this colorway, but when I tried them I couldn't believe how much harder they were. I had to return them because they didn't give me the same smooth squish i got from the other pair, they felt like a different shoe altogether. I am a light person, however, someone heavier than me might be able to squish them more and have a better experience. Tried 4DFWD 3 recently and didn't like the upper comparing to 4DFWD 2. I think 4DFWD 3 is more airy but the fit is weird. 4DFWD 2 fit like a glove, very close to a perfect fit, 4DFWD 3 are very wide and long at the front, my feet moved around too much, didn't feel secure.
Wow did you have both? I've been wearing the black midsole for a year and just got a white pair. Hard to compare because the black is so much more worn in
@@BenTan I've never been into this 4D tech because I'd heard bad things about it, like dirt and rocks getting inside the midsole. Plus, i'd heard that the printed midsole is quite hard, comparing to some premium materials on the market. But then about 6 weeks ago I stumbled upon an incredible sale on 4DFWD 2 in black/white with yellowish midsole and bought them. In the shop they felt a bit on the firm side (my benchmark in the React foam from Nike, it's a perfect material for me - not too soft and not too hard). When I brought them home and tried them properly for a couple of days I absolutely fell in love with the sensation underfoot. Softness in similar to the React, maybe a bit softer, but the way the 4d midsole compresses under foot, creates a very smooth experience. I think it's the most comfortable smooth experience of everything i've tried. Being very inspired by this new discovery and seeing great discounts on other colorways on Adidas website, I got another pair of 4DFWD 2 in black/grey with black midsole a couple of weeks after I bought the first pair. But right away I felt that something was off with the new pair. Tested them for a couple of days and it was absolutely clear to me that the smooth squish underfoot wasn't there, they felt like different shoes altogether. My wife confirmed this as well. Even though I very much loved the black/grey/silver colorway of the new pair, I had to send them back.
I don't have a pair of the 4DFWD however I have pair that has the technology. I like the feel of the heel. A more comfortable feel over the Boost. I'd get a pair but not at the current asking price.
The net mesh isn't gonna hold for longer period. Adidas Qualities control for 4D shoes are getting worse with each iteration. I have purchased and used them as my daily driver the 4d sole since first generation. Bought the Parsley edition 4DFW2 and boy those had poor quality issues. 4 weeks after purchase with my regular daily use (mostly walking and using at work), the threads start to come off from the toe region. Complained 4 months after purchase requesting a replacement or a refund. Got neither. Told that i didn't use it properly - "What are you guys on about???" Makes no sense.
I had the black version and daily wear (I ran twice a week) for a whole month, and in the position of the crease on both sides, it got damaged and eventually got holes in my sneaker. Adidas traded me a new pair today. I will monitor its durability and use it for running only to see if the issue is still there.
I hated the plastic on the second version, took me 2 weeks to get used to. Gave some pains initially. But I do think the 3rth heel is a bit thin. I prefer more shoe there.
Was a fan of the UB line, switched to the 4dfwd 2, recently bought the 3, have been wearing them for over a week. The fishnet thing is nice because it protects the shoe from ripping, the plastic cage thing does provide nice stability and it is super duper breatheable Nice upgrade overall from the 4dfwd 2, and 4dfwd overall is a well balanced sneaker for walk, light run, and just standing 😆 The only main problem is if you use it for working out, heavy running, or jumps, it can tear the midsole causing it to lose that springy effect and reduced shock absorption (English is not my first language, hopefully it is clear enough)
@@ayushbansal5854 boost is more springy, 4dfwd is more absorbing / squish.. so boost should be better for running because have better emergy return.. but if you want to try the 4d, the 4dfwd3 is the best of all the 4dfwd line.. better lockdown on foot, less prone to tearing, and the insole feels nice Another recommendation, dont buy either UB or 4dfwd for workout, get something else like the dropset trainer or adizero running.. then get the 4dfwd purely for walking and style.. that way you dont ruin the expensive 4d for working out (lattice tends to break under high intensity workout)
I’m a basketball coach and I have these in Halo/Carbon Grey. I do workouts and trainings 6x a week and still hoop competitively. *My question here is : can these be used for training with lots of running, suicides, high level reps…and maybe transition to a rest of the day lifestyle shoe that would be used sometimes casually depending on how crazy my day is going. I do workouts at 7am and I’m probably getting on with my day after training and then practice in the evening. What’s the thoughts on using them in these applications??
I have the 4 and they are very loose across the top. More toe room, which can be good or bad (depending). As long as they aren’t too wide and are supportive, it should be fine. Not sure how they will do running. I only got them because they are on sale. These also don’t squish down like in this video. Maybe it depends on a person’s weight? Mine are not as flexible.
Super late reply but mine do squish a fair bit but they do squish as much as on the video if i really press down on the side. Asfor running, they feel great. Not as good as with offerings from like nb/asics but this feels very subtle yet it just works which constantly surprises me esp when i got to other sneakers. These feels like im on walkalators
I own the 2nd version and bought it base on your recommendation, bad idea the shoe is way to narrow. Not even that soft, i had to replaced the insole just to make it a bit comfortable to walk but still way to narrow
I love my 4DFWD 2 and don’t mind a snug fit. As a soccer/fútbol player I’m used to shoes with a fit like that. When I run in mine the shoes become one with my feet. They seem to melt away and just provide cushion. A pleasure to run in them, for me.
i went and give it a try in the adidas store and the soles are too narrow and it feels weird on my foot. wide foot people problems =/. The ultra4d and ultra 4dfwd are the only ones that fits fine for me
