I was in dana last Saturday and met with a marina boatbroker. Showed the boat I went to look at which was 38’ Catalina . Listed For $28k… it’s looks just like yours and yours is $3500 lol I don’t understand boat pricing , I noticed that some new fishing center consoles are $100k and then the same center console 10 years older is like $10k lol anyways I’m still looking. It seems the biggest challenge is finding a slip available. The dana pint marina is now under renovation so slips are controlled by the new lease company , so hoping I can find some for like $10/lf with shore power etc
The Catalina 38 has a very similar interior design as the C30 but everything is bigger and a few more cabinets. The 38 is pretty fast from I hear. As for the $3500 price tag, watch my second video. It explains how I got it for that price. They were asking for $7k initially and this was at the very beginning of Covid and pre recent inflation. I got lucky. The more you study the makes, models, years and the market the more you’ll understand what boats hold their value. There are a lot Catalina’s around SoCal, that’s why they’re inexpensive. They sell for a higher price tag the further you get away from SoCal. Just my two cents… Cheers! 🤙🏼
Its almost sad to think of how many perfectly fixable sailboats that are sitting on the hard rotting away because people bought them used them once or twice and decided it wasn't for them. The problem comes when they try to sell them, a lot of times people dig their heels in on the selling price and would rather have it rot on the stands than compromise a little on the price. Then by the time they realize their never going to see that money the boat is scrap.
awesome vid as always. i was wondering how people sent that data out so they could be tracked. i like that fact that it can send all the info to your phone so if you're in a storm you can stay below deck and still know exactly what's going on. any update on the boat auction for this month? i've been checking every couple days for the last month or so, but can't find anything posted
Hey there PK! Yeah, commercial vessels are required to have AIS so everyone can see where they’re at. No update on the auction. I actually called today and they said there is nothing planned yet and they will have it when they have enough inventory for it. That’s all I know. 👊🏼
@@sailingsole aahhhh damn! well, i'm still planning on heading up that way. i was actually gonna drive to San Diego on Monday, but maybe ill push it back a week or 2 and try to get my rooftop storage box built before i go...
Great piece of kit, Andy. Enjoying the channel! James
It’s hard to convey on video how cool this piece of gear is lol. 😂 Thanks James! Cheers! 🤙🏼
Just bought a Catalina 30 MKII yesterday. Watching your videos sorta convinced me to get it. Great videos. Thanks for making them.
Really? Wow, that’s a first. You’re gonna love the adventures to come. The MKII is great. I’m jealous 😂🤙🏼
Brother your braveness continues to amaze me…great installs.
Thanks Sput. Been loving your Shorts videos. Thanks for watching 🤙🏼
I told you an angled driver would come in handy! Nice work!
I had that already! I thought you were talking about something that articulates even more. 😂😂👊🏼🤙🏼
Great job
Thanks mate! 👊🏼
Nice job on the install, now get out there and put some p-tracks on your tracking page.
I know… I’ve been lagging, rain, weather, work, excuse after excuse… I will certainly be putting some miles under the keel before too long.
Nice setup! You have a beautiful daughter...
Thank you! 🤙🏼
