No she wasn't! There were so many tough questions she could have asked and she didn't. Like; being a royal and having protection officers protecting you 7/24, how come we have to rely on his memory about where he was on that day. I am sure there are official records of everything in the police archives. Or like, what was he doing with Epstein for 4 days? Why does he think all the powerful people get together in his island, house etc. What's the attraction? If it is just networking, then why no woman business person or politician was there? Why all men? What is the attraction? The saddest part is that, we all know that he will get away with this and the cesspool of paedophilia will deepen. Poor children and young people.

Well, Dutch immigrants brought Sinterklaas to America and along with other December myths from English and German immigrants the Santa Claus character was created. Who then became so big world wide due to American consumerism that we (NL and BE) celebrate both traditions. But if you simplify the origin story then you could say Sinterklaas is the Dutch Santa.

"Black pete" is called "Knecht Ruprecht" here and he is also connected with the color black bc he gives the naughty children coal instead of real presents. I couldn't possibly force myself to make a stark comment on the performance of a royalty, but I will say this: I was not moved.
I’m confused by it being ‘inappropriate to be seen together’. Shouldn’t he mean it’s inappropriate - or, better yet, unacceptable and an absolute deal breaker - to be apart of his life in any capacity (given Epstein’s deplorable and utterly reprehensible/criminal actions)?! The way it’s worded implies the new acceptable recourse is that they must maintain their friendship in secret going forward, merely owing to how it would look (from a PR perspective). Versus a view of the friendship itself categorically ending, as it should have. Super telling, in my opinion.

'Sinterklaas' is not the same as santa. We have santa too at Christmas. Sinterklaas evening is on the 5th of December.

Not really. Santa claus is also based on Saint Nicholas from the third century. But in lot of countries (i think also coca cola had something to do with this) santa claus got linked with Christmas. After ww2 the dutch adopted santa claus into Christmas i believe.
The Prince stayed in Epstein’s home for 6 days, including 4 nights. Perhaps this visit was to have a sit down and discuss damage limitation arising from previous shared episodes in their lives! The nature of such a discussion would certainly explain the air flight the Prince made from London to New York, a distance of three thousand five hundred and fifty nine miles as the crow flies flies, to talk with his convicted felonious friend, Mr Epstein. I assume the legal authorities in New York will request/extradite the Prince to their jurisdiction to have a talk with the Prince in a controlled environment; and in the presence of the Prince’s legal counsel. I hope there is due process. I doubt that there will be due process. But I hope!
Actually, ''the one member of the royal family everyone always forgets about'' is prince Edward, yes exactly... chances are that if you are American you don't even know him, my point! He is the younger brother of the whole lot, and does what his sister Ann does very well, lives a completely discreet life, because unlike Andy and his family of media junkies, he's always known his place, and knows that he's not the one who should be in the spotlight.

As a Dutchman, I’m actually kinda happy with the coverage here about Black Pete. Most American news media go out of their way to describe how racist it is. It has to be stated that this is a completely different culture than the American one. The wearing of blackface has a very understandable racist connotation in the US because of minstrel shows, where black people were mocked. In the Netherlands, we have no such connotation, and the offense that people do take is imported. Might I add that an overwhelming majority of Dutch people believe Black Pete is not racist, and it’s a negligible but very loud minority that thinks it is racist.
So yeah. I grew up with Black Pete, and always loved him. Never once have I thought he was racist, and he’s as much part of Dutch culture as guns and apple pie are part of American culture.

Netherlands... even if we give the benefit and say that there is nothing wrong with the idea of Black Pete himself, maybe just hire some black people to portray him? At face value, Black Pete is a high ranking member of Santa’s operation and really helps to send the message to the other kids to behave... or else... so sure, Black Pete is fine... though not just calling him “Pete” will also likely become an issue as there is only 1 Pete in Santa’s crew, so is there really a need to give him the identifier of “Black Pete”?

Maybe its not the same as in the Netherlands but in Germany we have a similiar counterpart for Santa. He is called "Knecht Ruprecht" and he is usually shown as a white man with black soot in his face, bc he brings coal for all the naughty children instead of real presents like Santa (or Nikolaus).

i can only tell you that we have this too in Switzerland, but black pete is not black face & if so then it looks more like a chimney cleaner than a black person (He’s called Schmutzli, i think in Germany Rupknecht or so. As my German friends told me it’s less celebrated in Germany tho). He’s Santa’s (Samiklaus) friend, but normally work in the forest and coal mining that’s why he is black (from the black dust of the coal) which is not racist at all to me. they don’t try to represent a black person here.

It's Saint Nicholas. Not Santa 🎅. We do also celebrate Xmas (with Santa) in Netherlands. The only argument the pro-blackpiet have is: "That's the culture, don't change it". Dutch Santa does not have reindeer, but a white horse :p I personally like rainbow Piet, they are painted different bright colours. I think it's silly that people want to hold on to the traditions. Evolve with the time and make it enjoyable for everyone.

@@leslie5410 it seems that both characters shared the same origins since this year in the Netherlands "black piet" won't have a black face but a sooty one. So soot on the face seems to have been how the black piet looked at the beginning, why did they end up with a full black face, red lips, curly hair and large earrings is beyond my knowledge
