    See, that pisses me off. The fact that God will always be in your heart is precisely why he DOESN'T need to be in the Pledge of Allegiance and on money. Hell, he wasn't originally in or on either. He was added in the 1950s not as an expression of devout faith, but as a middle finger to the Communists during the Red Scare. Also, the Bible makes it explicitly clear that making a public display of prayer is nowhere nearly as good as doing it in private where no one sees you because private prayer is guaranteed to be legitimate, and public prayer could possibly be done for people's approval.
    So, yeah, we have God on our money and in school because of spite. I'm sure God would approve.

      Yeah, these hateful propaganda movies are the worst. I mean, the existence of religious movies is fine, but really, when's the last time anyone's seen one of those virulent atheists who pick fights over every little thing, that these movies love to pretend exist in droves?

      Lotus Prince Ironic that in the first God’s not dead movie the main character calls out Kevin Sorbos character by saying it’s not atheism what his doing his just mad that others have another way of thinking.
      And yet these movie has never put a muslim in a positive light has never put an atheist in a positive light never shows them coexist with each other because it’ll probably scare them in other words these aren’t Christian films they’re dirty propaganda pieces made by paranoid freaks

      When the Game Stands Under God's War Room: Ashamed, Voiceless, and Identical Edition...
      In this film, an atheist professor regains his faith after he and his wife get smoked by a car, but he survives. After going and seeing Heaven himself, he consults with his long lost musician twin, an Italian gangster pastor, and a kindly old black lady who teaches him to drive the devil out of his house. He then goes on Hannity, meets with the Robertsons, opposes atheists trying to remove a cross from the center of town, and teaches his kids on a camping trip how to be a real man: all while coming in second at a double dutch contest, writing a song to inspire the masses, showing off a military murder film to kids, and watching his dog get electrocuted and Columbine all unfurl before his very eyes.
      Starring Kevin Sorbo.

      Todd Wesley Hellems Why do these movies always go the Anita Sarkewian route? Many stories in The Bible are fantastic with great moral about forgiveness and love. Then why do they always go the victim route and revolve it around riduculous plots such as teacher being fired for talking about God in class? Havent they seen Silence by Martin Scorsese? .... Probably not. But thats a fantastic religous movie and im not even that religous.

Part of his faith is that he isn't allowed to salute the flag as it would be similar to worshipping a false idol. The teacher, an old conservative football coach didn't care. That blows my mind as a Canadian. If we had a flag in a classroom, it was the teacher's personal choice and usually it was a history or socials class. Nobody forces you to do anything. There was even a group of kids at my high school who would pray outside the school every morning and nobody bothered them. They had a right to pray if they wanted to. They just couldn't force anyone else to pray. I don't even think I ever heard the anthem at school, ever. Granted, the original lyrics of our anthem isn't totally racist, unlike the original US National Anthem that actually condones slavery.

      KarnRulez
      The claim is “Following the tenants of a religion without believing that there’s any meaningful reason to follow them except to avoid eternal suffering has a null effect on your goodness” not “Your religion makes you a bad person who hides it well, or somesuch”
      Expressed as equations
      Good Person + Religion = *Good Person*
      Bad Person + Religion = *Bad Person*
      Person who has plotted out a functional schematic to mass murder a bunch of I dunno, Yankee fans? + Religion = *Person who already committed that murder in their heart* (I think Jesus is quoted as saying something about that reflecting poorly on their ethical state)
      Even if you believe that the threat of Hell inspiring a lack of dedication to one’s misdeeds is sufficient to being a good person, it never follows that “I think that following orders out of fear of the consequences for disobedience rather than respect for the orders implies a lack of respect for the one issuing the orders” translates to “the religious lack respect for their supreme commanding officer”
      I get that you could advocate for the transformative power of a religious conversion or identity from badness into goodness, but that isn’t what is being dismissed by minski76. It’s just an insistence that being a religious hypocrite doesn’t make the person good somehow. Such hypocrites don’t believe in avoiding doing bad things for the sake of goodness, they merely believe in escaping punishment.
      If you want to openly claim that merely believing in escaping punishment is _good enough_ then at least that would be a coherent opposing stance, but it’s baffling and counterproductive to take the “I disagree with things you’re not talking about” approach instead.

    • @minski76
      @minski76 6 лет назад +11

      You're not a good person if you think you HAVE to be Christian to be one. You can be good and believe in God, but if you're only good BECAUSE you believe in God and fear his punishment or want his reward, you're not. Good people are good people, regardless of what Gods they do or don't believe in and regardless of what the expect to happen after they die.

    I am a proud agnostic. I personally believe that there could possibly be a supreme creator being out there, but if there is, the vastness of existence implies that it would barely care about anything we do in our daily lives. If I gave any indication that these are my beliefs at one of my two jobs, I guarantee that I would never be allowed in the building again. The business is a privately-owned LLC, and the owner, my boss, is a Christian pastor and a Trump supporter, and more importantly a bully when it comes to HIS beliefs. I've seen him kick out a Middle Eastern customer for the slightest of infractions. He has said many times that if you don't agree with his beliefs you can get out.
    My point in bringing this up is that practically everything depicted in these stupid religious persecution movies is actually happening TO atheists BY Christians, which is the worst irony of this entire thing. Thanks for reading this, btw.

      And there are parts in the world where Christians are being persecuted as well. And I think you're full of shit because no where in America have I ever seen Atheists being persecuted. I've seen Christians being persecuted, from Columbine to 9/11.

    • @SomeRandomJackAss
      @SomeRandomJackAss 6 лет назад +1

      Peter von Feldt Oh, don't get me wrong, I know there are parts of the world where Christians are unpopular, and if we were talking about those parts of the world, I'd agree with you, but we're not. The movie's called "One Nation Under God" and we're talking about America, a country where you'd be fighting an uphill battle to get elected to public office if you're not the right denomination of Christianity, where Christians are a majority population and those in power and yet, still complain about not having enough power, where you can stumble across ten different Christian churches, Christian schools, and Christian-run businesses (including larger corporations) but you'd have to look hard to find a mosque or synagogue.
      Oh, and the Columbine thing is an often-repeated myth, and 9/11 was more about "American Infidels," i.e. Americans who weren't Muslim (or weren't Muslim enough).

    • @chaosvii
      @chaosvii 6 лет назад +2

      And even if those attributions of "killin dem Christians for being Christians" were accurate motives for these mass-murderers, it still wouldn't fall under a useful definition of *oppression.*
      Oppression is not worthwhile shorthand for *victimized by criminals who have antipathy towards your particular group*
      That definition would mean that Twitter users are oppressed the very second that some asshole that hates all Twitter users becomes famous for victimizing them.
      Oppression is much better discussed as a function of power, by which human rights are denied as a result of legal authority failing to uphold any consistent resolution between those with resources and those that are treated as if laws don't matter and don't protect them. Christians are oppressed in areas where laws that should extend to them simply aren't. Christians can be said to be oppressed in areas where they are murdered and the consistent consequence for the murderers is one where they are not treated as criminals. They can be said to be oppressed in areas where reports of crimes result in investigations going nowhere b/c the authorities either don't bother or actively perpetuate said crimes. And they can be said to be oppressed in areas where simply implying that religious affiliation is political suicide at the very least, all the way up to needing to hire security
      But none of these things are an accurate description of the United States. Christians are respected by legal authority, even in the cases where said authority is not deferential to their religiously-motivated political action. When Christians do not receive a fair shake, it's not due to a pattern of Christian opposition, but unrelated flaws in the legal system instead. When they feel downtrodden upon, it very well could be for their Christianity, but it's rather myopic for them to then conclude that the entire system is against them and their devotion to Jesus. That would be ignoring all sorts of legal & political realities in favor of feeding emotions far beyond what is fair.

    during my first year of college, i met this guy who was dead-set on really making me Christian. Like he just approaches me out of nowhere, saying he felt something from me (whatever that means) and felt God was trying to tell him to convince me to follow God. It should be noted I was raised Christian, i have nothing against it, and despite being agnostic, I am a spiritual person rather than religious).
    I was a respectful, polite person while we talked the total three times, but each of those conversations always boiled down to "how can you have a life without God? How do you find the drive to achieve the greater good?" and I was like, "I'm motivated by wanting to make the world a good place for anyone who needs it, and I don't need to believe in a higher being checking off that i'm doing A, B, and C on his list in order to motivate me to achieve the greater good." Like I know while it can be and is very helpful for others, for me, I don't need God to try to be a good human being; I just do it because I care about people, and there needs to be more goodness in the world sometimes.
    I then avoided him like hell because it made me uncomfortable and the first month away from home was already hard enough.

    I am an atheist myself, and usually I don't bring it up at all when talking to theists. If someone happens to be very pushy with their faith though, I may explain my position, or counter their belief structure, but I try to be passive with it. Now if a person is trying to push their religion on others, using politics to influence the law or schools, I will fight tooth and nail to keep things secular. Also, if someone is trying to undermine scientific fact, with religious claims that provide no evidence, I will strongly counter with scientific facts. I really appreciate that Brad's wife ( I believe it's Laura, but not sure ) is willing to say publicly that she is an atheist. It's brave, because we get a lot of persecution from all sides and all religions, many people believing that without God, we have no morality and no purpose... Most morality comes from empathy for others, which is biologically innate in most people. Religious morals come second, and are built on top of our preexisting empathy. As far as purpose goes, Atheists define their own meaning and purpose in life, based on all sorts of things, and for myself it's an existential concept. All the things that make my life worth living, are my purpose and meaning. If a religious person reads this, I hope it dispells some common misconceptions.

    9:33 I imagine the cast doesn't help, since they're likely pushing 30. Also, it sounds batshit insane, but there are schools that give out computers or iPads to their students.

    When Brad started talking about the principal going to the Christian kid before the "big debate" I was seriously sitting here thinking "Oh please, for the love of GOD tell me that Casper Van FUCKING Dien pulled a 'sweep the leg'!"
    When I found out it was a check, I was disappointed. I'd have hunted down this movie to watch an eeeeeeeevil atheist principal knock this kid in the knee with a yardstick and make him have to do the speech on crutches.

    Dear lord it has a maga rap? And yet the main character is latinx? What the fuck!
    God the more I hear Brad and Laura talk about this movie, it sounds so much like a Christian Persecution mastubatory fantasy

    When I was in high school we just didn't say the pledge. Come to think of it I think we stopped doing it in 8th grade.
    Hey, people from other countries? Do you have a pledge of allegiance that you said in school, or is that another Americanism?

    • @villemankinen6650
      @villemankinen6650 6 лет назад +1

      Most countries have never had a pledge of allegiance or they've dropped it when they turned into democracies in the 19th or 20th centuries. I'm sure there are still some dictatorships with similar pledges, but that's about it. As far as western democracies go these days, it's most certainly an American thing.

    I love when all the students were saying the pledge of allegiance, and there is a long pause where they should be saying "under God". Like, why have a pause in there? It's so weird. This movie is SO WEIRD.
