- Опубликовано: 7 сен 2024
- Starting to get my new shop in shape. Started with a screw and small parts organizer with french cleat handles. The cabinet forms part of a larger installation that I will be getting to in one of my builds in the very near future.
Thank you to Johan for the awesome sign for my shop

The first half of the ruclips.net/user/postUgkx3ICSK6nSknaL_45CU2NmFSoXjarGMDiJ book is everything about wood: types, tools, finishes, setting up shop etc. The second half is all about doing projects for inside and outside of the home. The color pictures are helpful. After reading a dozen of these types of books, this is probably the best overall (layout, color photos, plans). Only detraction is that many of the projects use a table saw/router/planer, which are usually expensive and take up space, so the plans are less friendly to newcomers and the budget conscious. But I know I can use a drill, circular saw or a jigsaw to make the projects.
Man , that’s awesome . Thoroughly enjoyed
Yet another exceptionally brilliant design and build project!
I liked the idea of leaving room for future updates and improved functionality!
Well done, Sir!
what was the point in clicking a thumbs down for this video??? Great vid!!!! thanks!!!!
you are an inspiration to all beginner woodworkers.
Never knew my miter saw had a depth stop screw thing! Thanks!
addition of French cleat as handle to also use to hang is brilliant! well done.
If you're not already, you should be a teacher. Of all the woodworking videos I watch, I think I'm consistently inspired most by yours. Thanks for bringing your talent here to share.
This is awesome
9:45 I would have suggested constructing a square "tube" out of 4 long strips of plywood, then cutting a section off for each drawer body. Then it's just a simple matter of gluing on the drawer bottom for each (also easily done as a batch with another long strip... simply cut the resulting boxes off with the mitre saw).
Your ingenuity is underrated man. Very nice those french cleat handles
Nice idea with french cleat handels.!
Just found your channel and it will be fun learning.
Very clever
Make or Buy? Definitely make. It gives off an aura that you know how to use ALL your tools.
Good job
"The project is not particularly beautiful..." the true beauty is in the functionality of this project, and it delivers in spades. Well done!
I would never have the patience to make all those drawers, but you being the "King of Jigs" found a way of mass producing with consistency...Nice job. Also, using French Cleats for drawer pulls so you can hang them is brilliant.
Making all those drawers was not fun and I will admit I got annoyed at times but I really need to get the new shop in shape.
@@WoodshopJunkies you did a really nice job, you have more patients than i do .
If you added backstops for the jig, it would have gone even faster i imagine. Just so you didn't have to line the sides up every time. That being said, great video. Definitely need something to prevent my tools from getting covered in sawdust.
Dieser Schrauben-Organizer ist eine hervorragende Idee! Die Möglichkeit, eine Box vorübergehend an einer French-Cleat-Wand anzubringen ist einfach Top! Gratulation!
AWESOME
Shop Nation sent me your way cant wait to watch more videos
I noticed the french cleats in the thumbnail picture but hadn’t realised they were also the handles, really clever design!
Those french cleat handles are a great idea!
Mooi man ...baie baie mooi....!!
Awesome
Words cannot express how much i want one of those...
Clever solution and multifunctional!
The new shop is coming along. You have the patience of a saint with those drawers. You should do a video dedicated to all the jigs you created and how you go about making them. If you haven't already.
also, does he keep the jigs and where does he store those, or do they get busted down once the project is finished?
Hi John, you have a very practical inventive mind. This channel was - almost - the sole driver for me finally getting into setting up my Garage properly after 15 years of ‘moving out the cars and ‘back-breaking’ working off of the concrete floor. Love your ideas. Thanks for the inspiration. Did the flip-top-miter saw a little differently. Instead made the bench out of heavy welded angle iron. Copied almost everything else with my own mods. Going to copy your French cleat panel mount method. It is intriguing to me how you come up with a lot of practical stuff that seasoned woodworkers with mature channels don’t think of. Ta Mate.
Thanks Mark! Happy to hear you find the projects useful and that you are able to put your own swing on the concepts. That has always been my intention. To inspire people to better my ideas where I fall short.
Well I think it's beautiful!! 👍😍
The French Cleat/Handle idea is just one example of why I'm subscribed to your channel. Brilliant idea. Keep the great videos coming!
Nice!
I like the french cleat handles
Ok, the French cleat drawer pulls? Sheer genius! I’m subscribing to your channel just because of that ingenuity! Cheers!
Nice job looking great 👍👍👍👍
French cleat handles, great idea. Brilliant job.
Yep. The entire video is justified on that one concept alone
Between this and Frank Howarth, I'm starting to think French cleats are the new sliced bread...
I love that feature of the sliding miter saw. It makes dados easy.
French cleat mount around your shop is really clever well done. Another great video.
Love the logo... looks awesome!
Just found your channel a couple of days ago and saw this organizer in the background of that video. Wonderful idea! The only thing I might 'add' is some kind of slot on the handle to put a "what's in this one" tag that could be replaced when needed.
Something else to put on my 'to do' list 🙂
You are a genius when it comes to function and design. Your projects are straight-forward but so well thought out. It's very impressive.
Left handed, I like it!!
The French cleat drawer pull/wall mounting idea is very clever. A spark of genius, perhaps! I wouldn't've minded a closer look at the drawer assembly jig, as I bet that saved a lot of time as well as a bunch of tears. You got my sub.
You are amazing… you should do trailer builds for the US market…. Ron Paulk self proclaimed Demi god will have to bow to your amazing innovations … I am blown away
Will done
Excelent
Disagreement: Beautiful.
very smart
Hello. Your woodshop is my dream. Y home can make a similar à day. Thank for your vidéo. But y d'ont have understant everythink because y am a french woman. And sorry for my bad english. Best regards
Great idea!!! Супер!!!
Get a small battery clock mechanism and install it into your shop junkies round emblem. Would make an awesome workshop wall clock. You could even think about adding to your merch shop and changing the background image to match the shirts. 👌👍
Holy s*** that's a lot of work making all those drawers. :-)
Great organizer, love it.
Excellent video thankyou. Your Metabo Mitre Saw certainly got a workout. I think the organiser looks good and is very functional. Those drawers area good size to be able to get your hand into and I don't think they needed to be smaller. Thankyou again.
I disagree. That IS beautiful (and functional)
Genius. Stumbled upon your channel. Truly great designs and ideas.
I'm not sure whether or not it's a good place to start but I plan to build one of these as my first project
Mate your a genius, next level... i would pay you to come pimp my tool shop !!!
Thanks
I love this guy
You are amazing woodworker...🙆♂️🙆♂️🙆♂️
Fascinating! You have such good ideas - I wish I was even half the craftsman you are.
Great idea with the handles! Will definitely copy this some day.
Brilliant all right.
Well done!
Absolutely love it. You have a lot of patience.
Nice build. I like the french cleat idea as a handle.
Oooft - awesome. so glad there's no copyright on this idea. It's mine now 😎
Nice build mate! Love the French cleat handles, great idea!
Clever
Beat storage I've seen yet
Very well done
Great video. I like the French cleat concept for pull handles and remote hangers. I just might make something like this.
After seeing his finished products you always think why didn’t I think of that they are such elegantly simple solutions to real everyday workshop problems.
Very very talented exceptionally good ideas skilfully put together keep up the good work
WoW 👍👍👍
What a fantastic piece of work. It’s beautiful
Awesome video and idea. Love the cleat function.
If you put a spacer between the wood and the fence of your mitersaw, so the wood get a bit closer to you, the saw will cut the grooves all the way through the wood.
Brilliant!! I am going to steal your idea for my garage!! :-D
Wow what a great idea
Hey WSJ, I love all your video's as like you I have a small workshop. Thanks for sharing
Love the all-in-one workstation... Too bad I don't have enough space, nor a garage where I'm living at to use as my workshop...
That is the coolest thing I have ever seen!
Awesome work as always
"The project is not particularly beautiful..." If I made something half as good as that I'd be showing it off as a work of art! Looks much better than a bunch of plastic bins on in a metal cabinet!
I agree but you can buy a set of plastic drawers for 10% of the cost of the timber used here and have it on the wall in ten minutes! Not as pretty but just as functional. If you love your woodwork and you are doing it for the fun of it and the satisfactions then fine but most of us just want the functionality so we can get on and do the other things we want or need to do..
I'm sure with slight modifications, you can add cleats to your plastic bins as well.
@@boydmerriman but if there is any weight plastic boxex on cleats can twist
@@raydavison2972 I also agree that it's pointless going on dates, buying flowers, setting up dinners, long walks at the part just to enjoy sex, when you can just... Jack off?
Brilliant!
Great to see the blue hat again. Also nice project
Haha, yeah it's still here.
Another great video .👍👍
I've always thought that french cleats all over the place were kind of gimmicky, but I really like your idea with the bin handles!
Looks awesome
Great workmanship! And an eye for detail & constructive use . Thank you for sharing !
Love your videos. Great work. And dope idea on the cleat handles!
What the heck is a “dope” idea”?
Your video's are by far some of the best and well put together on youtube!
Great work
That's a really great idea to have the drawers multifunctional. Great idea and great job.
Nice work. I like the box making jig, will definately have to use that idea.
Very good Idea thé french cleat, nice job congratulations
Very Nice.
That is awesome! Love your channel!
From Texas.....we love ya buddy!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great video and craftmanship. The one thing I might be so bold as to suggest is in the future use clear acrylic for the drawer fronts. It makes locating parts and pieces so much easier and removes the need to label and then relabel the drawers, because we both know things almost never stay in the same drawers over time.
that is actually a rather good idea!
What's the best way to attach the acrylic?
