    I don’t understand why Tesla does not buy a company like Zero and rebrand it Tesla Zero and produce superior electric motors and battery packs for their motorcycles and just sell and distribute from the same web site and distribution centers that they use for their cars. They could do the same thing with Electric Bicycles.

      @@AV8R_1 It is innovation to put more resources into the Zero team and to give them access to superior electric motors and battery packs from Tesla and to give them an entirely new distribution channel to sell the Zero motorcycle products. Besides, when Tesla acquires existing companies like Solar City and Maxwell Technology, they do so to speed up innovation, not merely to add the Tela name to it.

    Revolt intellicorp has launched electric bikes in India. The base model RV300 is priced at $1553, and the amount is to be deposited in 37 installments of around $42 each. Just pay $42 and take your bike, no hidden costs and nothing.
    The bike can run approx 156km in full charge in economy mode (speed restricted to 45km/hr), and 80km in Nitro mode (speed locked to 85km/hr). Battery takes just 4.5hrs to charge from 0 to 100%.
    Even comes with a speaker which can produce 3 types of different superb bike sounds.
    The best thing is, they're providing ZERO cost of running for 3 years, anything from tyre replacement to battery replacement will be done free cost. And there is also a feature of battery swapping, where the user can simply swap the battery from the nearest Revolt bike store, while on ride, when he is unable to charge the battery. That too at zero price.
    I wish brands could enter the market with same strategy, so that more people could afford it and our environment could be saved.

    • @KTMcaptain
      @KTMcaptain 5 лет назад +1

      Matthew Storms you have that backwards.
      Torque is meaningless. Torque is a static force devoid of time. Written as foot pounds.
      HP is a measure of work. Written as foot pounds per second.
      More torque means more HP at a lower rpm. hence the quick off the line acceleration. Once the engine is wound up it has little power.

      @@KTMcaptain yes, but I would prefer torque over hp at any time as I don't cross 100mph. So anything over a 50 hp is useless. But if you increase torque, hp also increases GENERALLY.
      Electric motors provide high torque without high hp, perfect for me. But I prefer gears.

    • @KTMcaptain
      @KTMcaptain 5 лет назад +1

      @@ritwikreddy5670 I don't think you understand the dichotomy of torque and horsepower.
      Horsepower is a measure of work. It is how much weight you can move in a given period of time. Torque doesn't describe how long it took to build up the force. It could take 10 years or 10 seconds to build 1,000,000 ft lbs. One has 0.00004 HP, and the other has 1,142 HP. So you can take a long stick and generate more torque than a semi-tractor engine, yet cannot move the load anywhere near as fast.
      80 ft lbs at 1000 rpm is only 15HP. You need 3,000 rpm in order to make 46 hp. ((46/80)*5252 algebraically change rpm to X and rewrite HP=(RPM*TQ)/5252 in order to find what rpm it takes to make 46HP with 80ft lbs). So when you look at road speed vs engine/motor speed, you'd need to be doing about 51mph in order to make the 46hp ((85/5000)*3000=51). But, the motor makes 46hp at 4,300 rpm per Zero's website, which means you don't have full power until 72.5mph ((85/5000)*4300). Furthermore, guestimating utilizing my statistical software to create interpolated data, the motor makes 68 ft lbs of torque at 2,500 rpm which is 32hp at 42mph.
      (At 85 mph, 124.7 feet per second, with a tire circumference of 6.68 feet, the wheel must rotate 18.7 times per second or 84 revolutions per second of the motor considering the gear reduction. That is 5000 rpm @ 85mph)
      You're also missing a vastly important fact. Gearing can increase or decrease the torque at the wheel.
      An electric single speed bike is stuck in a high gear ratio. Compared to my previous 55hp 35 ft lbs bike, First gear is 2.43:1 gear ratio and 3.7:1 FD (9.03:1 total reduction). Zero FX is a 4.5:1 reduction. So 80 ft lbs in at 4.5:1 yields 360 ft lbs while a 35 ft lbs engine with a lower gear reduction generates 316 ft lbs. So a 129% torque advantage is reduced to 14%.
      Ultimately you want good torque, as it yields more HP at a lower RPM and generally reflects a higher average (not peak) HP across gear ratios. But what matters is your average HP, as Horsepower is 550 pounds moved a foot every second. It is torque within a defined interval.

    I've been riding electric bikes for 6 years in Shanghai. you can get a 60v 1200W motor bike/scooter for 1800 CNY. That's 250 USD. These can go up to 55 km/h stock, without any motor or controller upgrades, but in the city, even when you're racing past the cars and traffic, you'd only average around 35-40km/h. Now, you can get much faster ones with 3-5k watt motors, and 144v batteries. These will go over 120km/h. Those prices will be 7k CNY+ which is only $976. Finally, they have big bikes/scooters that will have a range of 200-300 km, depending on how you ride, and these will colst 25k CNY+, but they require special chargers, whereas the former ones i mentioned could just be plugged into any outlet. I wonder why this FXS costs so much, when you can literally get like 8 bikes which are just as fast for that price

    There seem to be a lot of people unhappy with the price point of this bike. It's definitely expensive, but I'm still intrigued (and I've been riding street motorcycles for almost 25 years, and dirt bikes before that). I mostly use my current motorcycle to commute around 9 miles each way, with some errand running on evenings and weekends. The range this bike offers easily accomplishes that. Besides the limited range, there are a lot of positives. Instant torque, no point emissions, no stopping and removing gloves and fishing out wallet at gas stations, and very little maintenance other than replacing consumables (tires, brake pads, brake fluid, etc.). No valves to adjust, no chain or splines (shaft-drive) to lube, no clutch to adjust (at lever or transmission) or clutch cable to replace, no transmission problems (this is direct drive with a carbon fiber belt), no oil (engine or gear) to replace, no spark plugs, no engine gaskets, the list goes on. I don't see the lack of noise as a negative; I have never been a believer in "loud pipes save lives", and always ride like I'm invisible. I would love to see more info about Zero's reliability if any reading this are actual Zero owners -- how do the electronics hold up over time? Expected lifetime of the battery pack, especially if the motorcycle is stored in a non-climate controlled garage? What is the service schedule and have you had an unexpected problems?

    No, supermotos were most certainly not designed to do city commuting or highway riding - they were designed for use in racing on a specific type of course with lots of turns.
    Supermotos are quite a bit off from being an optimal design for a commuter, as they offer basically zero wind and weather protection but I understand this was done because it looks cool (also, other variants like the S with the same power train are available).
    And while I find the FXS very fun to drive because of the lively engine with tons of torque, I do not think it is a viable option. The price you mentioned might be the case for the US, but for Europe they are much higher and ny unoffardoable. The FXS has an insane pricetag of some 13,000€ (15,600$ US) which is almost twice the cost.

    The range is what stops me! I love road trips n mountain going but wtf are you gonna go with 60 miles😂 especially when everything goes 200 n some even 300 miles. Best EV they got for range is the Brutus V8 with like 240 range but it weighs 800lbs

      D Buk - It’s a Motorcycle, a standard written and drivers test to get the M qualification on your license would be needed in most states. This is the on/off road (Dual purpose) version. If you’re just riding it on trails you’re good. If you ride it on pavement, you need that M on your license.

    I and across this video while looking at can/bus conversions and wanting an independent way to get around holiday distinctions...
    Something light, can charge via my solar panels, 100km+ too speed while still having enough torque and a generous travel range.
    Great price too.

      I'll bet the car you drive cost more than that new. Haven't seen many new cars in the realm of 8 grand.
      I think you're missing the (sizeable but underinformed) niche of urban or suburban commuters that only drive cars because they commute outside the bounds of public transit.
      Electric motorcycles also have much lower upkeep costs so the up-front cost is made up for by savings later.

    • @Killo464
      @Killo464 5 лет назад +3

      @@keegans5695 the problem here is you're comparing this to cars, when in affordability it gets murdered by motorcycles.
      Is this thing more affordable than an entry level car? Sure.
      Is it more affordable than ANY other entry motorcycle? No.
      If affordability matter people will go out and buy a new 300/400 for ~4k
      If a budget is really tight they'll pick up used for ~$2,500
      Also, before you kid yourself with the sub $10k price tag, don't forget the proper riding gear. a full set up does push you into new-old stock base model car territory. Without even glancing at the used car market.
