@AnthonyOMulligan-yv9cg I disagree, it is important to show what a waste war is, and how our government counts our troops as expendable commodities, and it is a great waste. Also, the courage of ordinary people to overcome a terrible situation. It also, show that the marines were the best trained infantry of that war.
Thanks for uploading, much appreciated. The sacrifice these men gave was mind boggling. The youth of today should have to read this as part of the school days.
This is one of the few books ive read multiple times. The Pacific ive watched a bunch too. They really were the greatest generation in so many ways. Not that the competition has been great.😂
You are a saint for reuploading this. Ive been listening to this playlist since it was uploaded. i didnt think it would ever get taken down. Thank you.
Preface: 32:58 Chapter 1: 35:24 Hey I just wanted to say thanks so much for this upload! I got the book from a friend for Christmas and just started reading it tonight. The timing of your upload couldn’t be more perfect. The introduction in my book is done by Victor Davis Hanson, and I assume that’s because it’s a newer edition.
Appreciate you uploading this. It’s been up before but got 86’d by those ‘powers that be.’ Good to have it back again. There’s a documentary on Tubi about these guys in the Pacific telling the horrors of the battle on Peleliu. Really tough, hard battle on that piece of sand and rock where the enemy was dug into tunnels, just insane.
We were qualifying on the .303 and when we took our turn marking in the butts one fool stuck his hand up over the parapet......he lost most of it, what a bloody mess, went through the palm of his hand taking the 3rd metacarpal with it
34:37 "Now i can write this history..." For those who have experienced traumatic events in real time, it is actually very difficult to talk to someone, or even write, about their past memories. It's a very true line. I say as one of those myself.
In my opinion, this is one of the most important books written on American history.
I was touched by it, never to forget. Brilliant.
It's importance is in showing the solid unification of the then America and the love and respect that American's once had for each other

Instead of listening to the drivel of modern day media, I'm choosing to listen to this.
Finished the book. My god I love this country.
Same here. Just when I thought I wasn't gonna be able to fine another good listen. 😅
God bless 🇺🇸
Yes yes
We appreciate your sacrifice
Been doing this four years. Boycotted news 11 years back. Best move I ever made.

@@chicagopiano6322You’re doing the lords work 🤝
I have so much respect for the Marines and Army dogs who fought in the Pacific and Europe
Thanks for the memories. This was exactly the experiences of boot camp in 68 during the Vietnam War. Right down to the "snapping in" at the range.
