Another brilliant video that shows once again how much sampling is not only finding a loop and putting a beat to it (even if finding a good and rare loop is already a task in itself). I always thought about Preemo as a paradox : basically he samples Jazz and Funk, but sometimes he give those samples a kind of "Electro" treatment (which make me think he could have been an excellent House Music producer as well). I think especially about "Mass Appeal", which is a very short sample from an Jazz-Funk track with decreased speed and pitch that finally sound like an almost electronic track : hope we'll see it soon in one of your next videos ! 😉
He’s one of my favourite producers if not my favourite. Mass Appeal is really hard to recreate. I tried it a while ago and struggled. I might give it another go and see how it sounds.
@@DJFurio I was more thinking ‘this isn’t the tune I got’ then I went back and realised I’ve always played the original. Listened to the remix and you nailed it 👊🏾👊🏾 - regarding the D&D all stars
DJ Premier is a pretty big inspiration for me. My favorites are when he would chop jazz piano pieces, like in "Me Or The Papes" and "When I B On Tha Mic". A "chopped piano" (as I like to call it) has a distinct aesthetic that goes really well with hip-hop. I've started trying it out in my own beats. If I can make some recommendations for your videos: I think you should work on making your voice sound more clean and crisp. A compressor will help you accomplish this. Also, some background music would be great (maybe some old J Dilla instrumentals?). But overall, there is value to analyzing these old musical styles- keep it up.
@@DJFurio Sorry. I meant to edit it to ask where you found yours from that sounded familiar cause I think yours are better. Also I can't seem to find the drums you found in the Graham Central Station -The Jam 1975 in the Gangstarr - Speak Ya Clout. You wouldn't happen to know the YT timestamp would you? I've listened to the record a few times and am wondering if there's another version perhaps.
@TonyMontana33452 I can’t remember where I got those drums. They were just individual drum sounds from a variety of different drum beats. Have you fully listened to The Jam? There’s a long section a few minutes in where it just plays the drums for quite a few bars. I would suggest you play the track without skipping through it.
no disrespect butt I Like the primo beats better...! as an overall dj...and would it be possible for you do do a video of Alchemist beats....Daniel Allen Mammon!!! dj ALC!!! Pretty Please!! from Los Angeles!

Which one? The George Clinton album?
@@DJFurio yups! Guy must have been a dj in the 80s and 90s had a bunch of old rap. I love discovering all that og stuff.
So many samples from that album. Gang Starr Blowin Up The Spot samples an entire track from it.

What about Kanye west?
Fight The Power has about 20 samples in it. I can look into it but might not be that easy.
Kanye has some good stuff

It certainly is. I remember you well from all the Fat City nights back in the 90’s.
@djfurio do you have the full instrumental to intro beat?
Yeah it’s from my 90s Boom Bap Classics album djfurio.bandcamp.com/track/i-forgot-what-my-name-is
@@DJFurio Thank you!
Premo is easily the best producer is music
Such a great producer
6:41 You started with the drums again but this time didn't say where from.
I said I didn’t think they were sampled from anywhere and are just some individual drum hits so I just found some that sounded fairly similar.
