i'm loving how loud the bass is.
The g3 Is a beast. I'd kill to have one
ding ding didilading
How it should always be
Yeah this performance is killer
Fick dich kommunistisch
Better dead then red
Nice to see a band actually performing and not just playing
+Rick Dangerous Holy f**k, that's kinda deep
I didn't know I needed to read that comment until I did
Rick Dangerous they look like they r having so much fun doing it
Amigors, it is pretty fun playing guitar, its just a pain in the ass to get started
Rick Dangerous at first look I got offended by this but after like a minute of thinking about it yeah they look so alive her but they do have some fun preformences
Remember staying up in anticipation of this. My friends and I had listened to Green Day for a few years before this and this was a huge moment. One of our fav punk bands playing on national TV. Amazing memories.
Yup... I remember staying up to watch green day, bush, collective soul,
Mike is so good at bass.
ross dale he really is. Even though he's in an extremely popular band, I'm gonna call him underrated. Everyone's always talking about Les Claypool or Flea, and they're good, but damn Mike is amazing
He really loves playing bass while it's really boring to most people, like me..
ross dale This whole band is fuckin good
@@allanrodriguez4547 that's not true Billie sucks at guitar but Mike and Tre are really good
@@janwillemdewaard9032 I'm talking about songwriting wise.
Ellen is a bad ass on the drums
XD
That’s tre cool bitch
christ you don't get a joke do you?
+WolfyTerror5
the joke
---------------
you
that drummer, sure enough, is a monster and probably responsible for a whole lot of the energy that comes offa these things: frickin' undeniably snappy!
crack! boom, bam!
Mike's bass just blasts out all the speakers omg
if I had a dollar for every power chord Billie played...
You'd be one rich guy
+TheLolipopTroop no he would have all the money in the world
xEvolution2099x if I had a dollar for every gram of powder he snorted.
you'd have 4 dollars.
If you mean *everytime he played a power chord* then you'd be one rich guy. The way you worded it, you'd have about $12
Billies most aggressive hands movements live IMO
Bullet Club and Green Day 2Sweet me already!
Seen crazier in chicago and woodstock
The guitar punching technique by Billie Joe
he's got a pretty dang good command of that instrument! my shit, would never tolerate such a... such an appearance of musical thuggery: respecto! in my case, i was always constrained by forces i still cannot comprehend, i bet! i'm glad others can so easily dominate and command their instruments to serve them so well! like, it must-be-nice!!
@@tinfoilhatter right?! i've tried to do it myself and it just sounds terrible lol
another thing i've tried to do was play like Frank Iero of My Chemical Romance, where he would just play while flailing the guitar around and that's even tougher. Not sure how he does that while being able to play rhythm so well
Dude Billie strums so fast holy crap....
I know! Doesn't that kill?!
hoi koe It's just meth. =P
@@LoekTheKing no its speed
@@jasminedomokos2576 Same thing lol, speed is just slang for amphetamines which is a category of a lot of meth-like drugs, meth is in there too lol
He's also very talented...don't forget that
Conan looks like he was made out of wood.
lmfao best comment I've seen in a long time, thanks for the laugh
Who said he isn't? How do you know that Conan doesn't descend from a tree?
Haha i laughed so hard
@@Spoonwood Giant Redwood
Funny thing is, this song was on Kerplunk first.
I bet all the "fans" know it from the international hits
All the "fans" would say this from Dookie
That version didn't sound as nice though.
hrcr101 The Dookie or Kerplunk version
Shadow Venom Gamer kerplunk
Whoever mixed the sound for this performance did a fantastic job, considering this was recorded in 1994. Love that I can hear the bass loud and clear.
In green day songs, especially old ones, they make sure you can hear the bass. (its louder than the guitar at some times)
Thats probably why it was so loud
that picking technique
I've never seen anyone saw at the strings that way
Cause Billie's Strumming Pattern Doesn't Break The Strings
Can't believe in ALL THESE YEARS this is the first time I've ever seen this performance. Here I thought their television debut was on David Letterman performing "Basket Case." Little did I know I HAD NOT seen their television debut. Good grief!
These guys r electric when they play live
Were
Chris Cuthbertson r
Chris Cuthbertson Still are *
So f-ing good I miss those days of raw real here it is in your face take or leave it awesome down your throat music.
lmao at your name
Lmao
I hope kids always think this is cool :)
as a middle schooler, Green Day is cool as fuck. I was influenced by my uncles
Huey Freeman 5
I certainly do think they're really cool & I'm 14!
Chris here, 14 years old. believe me when I say, this is still cool.
billie inspired me to be a guitarist at the age of 11. not that much older now.....
Jesus Christ, Conan looked so young back then XD
Yeah, I was having a brain fart when i commented that...
GO BEARS!
Tre killed it here.
Sound levels are absolutely perfect. Not to mention it was played flawlessly.
billie joe is wearing the brown striped t-shirt that's he wore in the longview, basket case, and walking contradiction video:)
It looks like tre is wearing the same shirt he wore on longview too.
that is badass I just noticed too
jo didnt have that much shirts back then...
tilt t shirt, brown shirt, billie post with his brown shirt in instagram
This video was uploaded the same day of this performance, 14 years later. #Mindblown
And you are the first one to notice that thing. I did that in purpose, haha
greendepent I appreciate that! xD
16*
I was watching this the night it first aired. I remember thinking this just seemed like some new band capitalizing on the success of Nirvana with the whole three-piece, melodic punk thing. We taped this episode of Conan's show and watched this performance over and over and bought the CD, which wasn't really anything new, but had super catchy songs on it. Little did anyone know this band would have such longevity and success!
nobody can do more, with less, so to speak! that cat is legit, a frickin' musical sorcerer! but he seems to be under the law of grace, or somethin' like that, remarkable, right? must-be-nice!
This is INSANELY good for a live performance holy fuck
That was fucking kickass live performance, how lucky those people in the audience were
When they came out in the early 90’s I was amazed by their energy - now almost 30 years later I still love it
Wow...Conan looks young!
this was 1994...
this was 1994...
Lavernius Tucker I know, that was kinda the point.
He was 12 back then.
JoCoBrony cuz it’s 20 years ago
Lol the 90s Billie is the best Billie, when his body couldn't hold its own energy and shit.
Adriann5 its called speed. It's like salt in the bay area.
Adriann5 That's not energy, that's amphetamine haha
Adriann5 Its called being in the 20s. Hes now in the 40s.
Three chords never looked so good.
I'm Ray No, it's a drug called speed. Not his age, lol. Shows how much you actually knew.
I always thought mike dirnt was tall as fuck but then when conan walks on the stage i realize billie joe is only 5'7 lol
anyways this is probably the best song ever.
They were also a lot younger then.
Christopher Ingram Not really, they're all 41 so they were all in their early twenties.
Usually you're fully grown at 20 or 21, but you guys are missing the point of my original comment
AmeliaRford 24 lol when he was 10 maybe
For those of you who don't know, they're back at making music again. They just released a new song, bang bang, on the 11th. It's great.
It is great
To add onto that, the full new album titled Revolution Radio comes out in October, with the title song already released.
rockinrodney5000 That song is fucking amazing.
Revolution Radio just came out.
Joe Kerr and it's amazing.
The mechanic moves of Bille because of the speed lol
the video is sped up
@@milkandmeat No... it wasn't...
@@yepmcyeppington Yes, it is.
I just came here after watching Live videos of Angels & Airwaves and let me tell you, this is definitely refreshing
Errly McDabbin angels and airwaves are good as a studio band, watching them live takes away the magic of their songs lmao
Tom delonge sucks live
Just loved them as a three piece, pure energy, and the way BJ plows through those strings from his shoulder, man! Tried it a few times live... major bummer🤪
This vhs doesn't do it justice. I bet it sounded absolutely awesome in person.
That bass line... was amazing...
Mike is amazing on backing vocals, even back then!
2:30 billie loving himself.
Kurt Cobain was still alive when this aired.
the poor sod! he musta loved or hated green day...haha!
I was thinking exactly the same
Scyber_Sounds Of The Future oh shit ur right. i wonder if he actually heard about green day
That was my first thought when I saw this video
@@shahidullah5983 they performed together once
the interlude to this.
so much energy!
Conan and Green Day!!! All my favorite people!!
My fav band ever

Two of my favourite things back in the early days! love it

Love Conan O'Brien!!! Team Coco forever and Green Day
Perfect
I wish I was born in time 2 c this they were awsome back then and still are now
3 guys incredible
Awesomeness!
God how I wish Mike still had that Gibson Ripper. Nothing beats that thick popping tone you can’t easily replicate!
Grumpy Grouch it’s a Gibson G3, not a ripper.
thank u!
I was laughing at the beginning because the band is so full of energy they're still the same till this day but not as much they have lost 10% of their energy but still rocking out like their young
Awesome
They rocked it.
Wow... My favorite band ✊😃
Conan + Green Day = AWESOME!
What the hell happened to rock? Why aren't we having bands like this anymore??
Because the current trend (or at least since the very early 2000s) is all about over produced albums, auto-tune, flash how much cash you got and excess excess excess, lol.
There are good rock bands out there, but it is just not in the mainstream anymore.
***** Exactly. I'm 16 and I love a lot of old music.
PunxNotDead Even Prince said the golden age of music was the 60s - 80s. I'm not that huge of a fan of him...but that guy has mad talent. He is also pretty smart when it comes to the finances and logistics of the music industry.
Highly suspect
It's because music like this is underground, and it isn't made for Gen X wastelanders like you guys.
My favorite host and band are here
This was the first time I ever saw Green Day. I was 20, & I knew right away that punk was back and that nothing would ever be the fucking same.
This performance is so energetic but smooth
does not sound like dookie. but that does not make it bad at all i love the kerplunk sound
badass!!
Gotta love their energy on stage. ^_^
Gotta love that bass solo.
Jesus man,...the energy and passion seeping from their pores says it all!
They sound so good it's ridiculous!
Punk Rock.
outrageous, yes! ridiculously good, they surely were, and still are,
of that, we should by now, have no doubt~
Green Day nos anos 1990 era top, de 2000 pra cá ficou popizinho de FM
Green Day is my favourite band :)
Una re polenta!!!!
That strumming tho. 💚
3:55 Conan: "Where the hell'd your drummer go??"
Haha gotta love Tre's old exits.
"And they can't wait to begin" 🤣
I love how Tré is always up to something after a performance on a talk show.
Estos pibes hacen playback, si no no pueden ser que suene tan igual a la versión de estudio. Son unos malditos genios, los amo
Alan Gimenez mejor que el estudio mas bien.
Epic! I like it more than studio version.
The abuse them strings get !! I fucking love the energy and passion this band has
YYYYEEEEEEEEEEEESSS
Que lindo cuando tocaban los tres nomás en vivo.
The full on power of early Green Day. Oh yeah. :)
Punks are amazing cause we are different and be are being who we want to be. We are just being ourselves.
Their best song of all time.
Their first TV appearance was the day I was born. AWESOME
That was dope af
Hectic energy!!!!!! Fuckn absolutely rippin’ and a tearin’
I remember hearing this song in a movie called "Surf's Up". I sang along in my head, and it was fucking awesome that people still use Dookie tracks in movies!
even in terrible quality they sound incredible!
20 Years
They were SO tight
Wicked
Wow this was Green Day’s first time playing live on tv, so cool.
god their energy was amazing in the 90s
I FINALLY UNDERSTAND THE MEANING OF ENERGY.
I agree
do you think conan smoked weed with them back in the day lol
I bet he was a barbarian lol
Shane Train fucking genius
Conan a bitch
lamo lambda you a bitch
i love how before the performance conan looks like he had never heard green day and thought it was just like any other band but then after hes so exited and like that fuckin rocked
CONAN IS SO TALL NEXT TO LITTLE BILLIE OH MY GOD
I love the head twitches lmao
