- In this video I review a 2004 Dodge Grand Caravan SE which is part of the 4th generation of the Dodge Caravan, produced from 2001 to 2007. The caravan is mechanically identical to the Plymouth Voyager and Chrysler Town & Country

I am amazed at how well cared this one looks for its model year.
Young lady and no kids about to happily buy a 2004 Dodge Caravan SXT. Why, insurance even in the extremely expensive city where I live is cheap for these, thanks to their reputation as the safe and ultimate family car. It has a timing chain which sold me too.
Mai the sxt gets you that 3.8 motor with more power and same gas mileage
@@cityslickeroutdoors8306 Unfortunately I don't have it anymore (attempted theft). The good is I have my dream car since a little kid, 1st gen Liberty/KJ. But that 3.8 and from a fellow military family of mechanics ran so smooth. I will definitely be getting another one someday, kids or none. So much can be done with those amazing haulers.
Ms Collins that sucks. I hate thieves. Hopefully my 3.8 doesn’t meet the same fate
Still driving my 2006 Caravan. 272k miles, original tyranny, engine as strong as new. Comfortable, great road manners.
original tyranny
@@simona6600 oh, I didn't catch that typo. That's funny
@AM I have an 07 definitely worth 3k
I'm thinking about buy a 2007 with 127k miles thank you for your comment about your Caravan
@@Utopian1234 i found a 2005 with 99k miles clean af for 3300 should i get it?
Love all of my caravans . I have had 4. I'm 4000,and 12 years in. Still driving my 03
I had a 2002 which had very few problems. I now have a 2003 I bought 8 years ago that has had many problems, thankfully no major engine or transmission problems @ 200K. I love the way they drive and ride. The one in this video looks almost new and has 240K. (I think he said)
I'm a retired Master ASE tech so I know how to take care of one. BTW: Dorman make really good window regulators and if you have one of these cars you will be needing a couple...
@alexusmcqueen69 Yes it is provided it has been taken care of. Last year for this body style...
I just picked up an 05 for 1000 bucks. Runs like new.
For reals I might get one too I'm still not sure about it it has 190k idk tho
2005 Dodge Caravan SE 2.5 l 4 cyl was my first minivan/car! It was a hand-me-down. I drive a pickup truck now, but, as a college student, I would have enjoyed having both, but insurance will not let that happen. It had a DVD TV in the back seat. Very nice for a first car if you need a minivan!
I sold it to a family who truly needed it.
Switching from a 4 cylinder in the van to a V8 in my 2006 Chevy pickup truck is a big difference too. I miss having something to cover my stuff from the van.
I have been blessed with the vehicles I have had so far like this one!
Same
Thank you for this review. Nicely done
These 4th Gen Caravans are bulletproof vehicles, a ton of them are still on the road today here in Canada. They're the perfect road-trip minivan, though that may be a biased thought since I spent most of my childhood going around Canada in a 2003 Sport edition the family named "Karrie" since she was used a lot for utility. She has 800K km on the odometer and only recently had a fuss when she spewed out her rad fluid. She may be at her end though as her chassis may be too rusted to drive safely. She runs on the same 3.3L V6 as seen in the video, and her transmission is the factory original.
That's true man. Unfortunately the newer generation didn't live up to this one
Holy crap that's insane! Mine had 240ish when sold and still had plenty of life left. We had a trans put in st 80k miles, think we got one of the duds
800,000km's? That's incredible!! Ours only had 86.100 when the transmission crapped out
@@bjthedjdutchdude1992 My mom always got the routine maintenance done to a T, and a lot of those kilometers were picked up from long drives, so the van would just be cruising on one gear for hours on end on the highway. I reckon if the engine got a rebuild (since it's a 3.3L with 800K km) and the chassis got repairs wherever needed, she'd be good for another 800K.
@@uberschnilthegreat22 ok, ours was not so lucky. I think ours ran out of transmission fluid
Great video enjoy the sincere tone and statements made. Do more reviews
My parents used to own a dark blue 2002 Dodge Grand Caravan Sport. I loved the van when I was a kid back in the early 2000s.
My parents had the same car. It was great!
I still have mine, but sometimes the power steering goes out
i have a 07 caravan really a nice van my kids love it
Hoping to get me a use 07 Thursday. Ready
I still see so many of these in Montreal.
Same
Thanks for the helpful review.
Nice video thanks for doing this.
2005 was the first year that Stow 'n Go seating was optional in the Grand Caravan (long-wheelbase version), where both the second and third row seats fold into the floor.
My 2005 Caravan with the 4 cylinder is still kicking. Not a powerhouse but it gets the job done. Looking for same year range with the V6 engine.
I have a 2006 Dodge Caravan with only 90,000 miles on it. Love the car, never had any problems with it but I always followed the maintenance schedule. It's also in beautiful shape. The only one issue I don't like about it is the three-gear transmission - what the hell were they thinking?!
It's a 4spd
Plaining on going to Florida from Toronto roundtrip about a 24 hour drive just thought I’d ask this question if anyone can help me, I got a 2001 dodge caravan (3.3 litr v6) with 135km no leaks, changed a lot of things on it recently like breaks some suspension mechanic says it should be ok but still worried it won’t make it? Maybe I’m overthinking ? What you guys think?
Go I still own a 2001 great vans I love mine
From the look of the grill, my girlfriend had inherited a 2001-2004 or 5. Her Dad drove it to Alaska, probably from Michigan. Drove it to Florida. The girlfriend and did a multi-state Roadtrip. The Dodge Caravan was virtually heaven sent. It's last display of strength was being hit hard by a truck. The Caravan was Totaled, but my girlfriend was completely unhurt. The Caravan from 2001-2005 must have been designed in Mount Olympus !!!
I'm worried about how well these can carry incar weight capacity? How well does this work? What if you filled it in car with the total weight load limit listed on the specifications? Is the car going to break or hold up?
If you put in like stuff to haul to job sites like plywood loads, or cement bags etc it DOES have a lot of room to do this...but is this car durable enough to take it without it breaking?
Most the time when they quote loads people are talking about towing, but they don't often comment on if the load is in the back of the car. They usually mean pulling a trailer; SO this is why I asked.
And another concern is when you see payload or towing capacity limits listed on the cars serial number, make model sticker, are those based on engine strength or actual durability of the frame to carry that much weight or both?
Thank you for any insight.
stow and go was offered for the 2005 thru 2007 front wheel drive Caravans and Town and Country models. I had a 2006 which a purchased for $1000 from an elderly couple back in 2020. I had gotten rid of it regretfully in 2022 due to the continuing rust problem the body was going through
Same😢
A lot of them is in Canada, I love the one that I Drive right now 3.3 L.
My 2006 has the same gauges the white ones & same color magnesium pearl I ordered a passenger sliding door that’s not rusted it’s coming from North Carolina a nice van stow away seats too
Good review and I agree with your findings. I just purchased a 2007 Dodge Grand Caravan SE with options. Does the sxt model have bigger sway bars and or stiffer springs/struts/shocks? Thanks for any help!
I don't believe so. Pretty sure its just a difference of aesthetics and options
@@DrivenCompanion (1) Is the oil engine cap sealed or can I refill it myself? (2) Is the transmission cap sealed or can I refill it myself? (3) Is the power steering cap sealed or can I refill it myself? (Thanks)

I have an 05 with 3.8l engine. Everything you mentioned is accessible.
I love my 06 model with 175000 miles and doing great. Work with it and know this is a Jewel that was used as taxes in Ny!
If it's not as cool as the SUV's in your area,... that's your fault!
My husband fitted our 2002 with 20 inch wheels, and a 2 inch lowering kit from Eibach!
Now the high winds don't bother us as bad, I don't have to be extra careful with my knee climbing up in her, dodging deer( no pun intended) is really easy, and half the kids under 30 in Boise, think she's really 🔥!
She started life as a minivan,...now she's an inner State Limo!
What makes a caravan flooded out when you start it some times

I wish minivans still had column shifters!
Why?
@@Bass.Player
Since nothing does anymore really and these were the opportunity for one. It used to be floor or column shifter. Now they do “both” with dashboard shifters. It should be either or and not both.
great video my mom's caravan NEVER let us doen
I find the Grand Caravan has more room inside than all crossovers and most SUV's.
Seems to me that the Dodge mini van was developed at Ford and had a Honda drivetrain. Ford didn't think they would sell, so fire Iacocca, Dodge hires Iacocca.........Anyway we have an '05 that came with a 3.8, but now has a 3.3L with the higher 3.8 gearing we get 9L per 100km. that' s 31mpg imperial or 26mpg US
Slight mistake
EPA for the 4 cyl model was:
20 City / 26 Highway
I could also live in it..
People, just keep repairing them. These SUVs today are too expensive and cvt trans have a short life span.
Where can I get a coil for Dodge Grand Caravan 2004
I'd try googling it and you can probably find several online sites that carry them.
Try Rock Auto
Dodge grand caravan ❤
And I love the limited edition minivan that you have not means it's not automatic
This was before FIAT took over and ruined it. Taking away American touches like the column shifter or the big plush seats.
Oh man, those cloth seats were so comfortable! I've rode in several of these 4th gen Chrysler Vans as taxis, and the seats are always the best part. I hope someday to own a 3rd or 4th gen van.
This car looks scary for gangsters
5:53 a Tahoe does have a elephant sized hood soo
Is it for sale
It was but not anymore
Even it's a little bit new
Yo, Mike. What's your phone number? Is that mini van still around? Interesting!
Already sold. Good luck on your search
My grandfather drives a 2007, it's going to me in the coming years
If the doors are not automatic, that means it's limited edition
Family had one of these 2001-2010 when I was a kid. Absolute pile of unreliable garbage.
It was so unreliable you kept it for 10 years.
@@North49191😂😂😂
It kinda looks like a Renault Scenic
هذا سيار تمساح قوي 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
They all copied off of the ford windstar when it changed its body style They all looked the same but great vans
Fuse box
Put a cold air intake I bet gas mileage go up a tad
Now your ecu is going to tell the 💉 injectors to spray more gasoline ⛽️ which defeats the purpose of better gas mileage & ruining your catalytic converter by burning rich.
Early were mostly junk
chryesler and dodge are tthe most unreliable american cars ever.
FL far that’s your opinion so otherwise , no .
I still have mines and running pretty well
The Dodge Grand Caravan is on of the best caravans.....the other Dodge makes and models are CRAP. I agree with you some what.
I mean... My 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan still works fine and it has been through hell I used to have a Cadillac escalde that lasted 4 months before the battery died, I went through 4 of those before i gave up on it, I also had a Pontiac GTO that's fuel pump shat itself like 1 year in, in my experience mopar has been great and gm are super unreliable.
FL far
I see these caravans everywhere from 1996+
I think 1995 and down was the bad generations of reliability. Although 1991-1995 looks pretty cool especially with wood.
