Playing out of deep rough is always gonna a challenge for you: you have a very flat swing and not a lot of clubhead speed, a lethal combination for trying to play from that type of terrain. Great video! So fun watching your stuff. You do such a great editing job.
For sure! In hindsight I'm grateful we got to experience the course in the fog in addition to the sunshine. It's cool to see how difficult the course can play.
Beautiful putt at the end, I was waiting for the huge celly at the end just like the goat, hahaha. The fog really did you dirty on the front 9. Think you did extremely well all things considered!
You played great, Adam. I can only wish for such a score. Sometimes we need to stop looking at the pros for comparison and instead focus on how much progress we make as individual players. 15 over at TP is an insanely great score. Attaboy.
How cool that you are playing Torrey Pines!! Awesome video Adam!! Probably wasn't easya playing in those conditions!! I still think even if it was mentally tiring I am sure you had fun!!
Torrey South is consistently one of the hardest courses around all year long, especially if you are playing from the back tees. This is a solid round there considering the conditions with the fog and the thick rough. If you want to play this course as close to tournament conditions as possible, Christmas-January 18th ish is about as hard as this course gets. Thanks for sharing
That was an excellent finish to go par-Birdie dude! You were struggling bad on a couple back nine holes but if there’s anything I know you can do, it’s recover. Great job on a great course!
Thanks so much. Indeed, the round was redeemable until back-to-back triple/double. Rolling one in on 18 certainly alleviates some of the pain. Appreciate the kind words!
I always feel like I went 12 rounds with a heavy weight after playing the South Course. My best is a 76 from the brown tees, but was 1 under after 9. Great video, shows how difficult this course really is.
Yes it is tough to play in the fog..interesting you pick the right time to share this video as it's foggy out today. If you zare looking for help with the chipping let me know! Thanks again for the great videos
Ok Adam...spooky time: Played here several years back, nearly identical conditions and fog clearing through 8th/9th. Also birdie'd 18, 12 footer to that front pin...approach from probably within 5 yards of where you hit yours from. Also posted 85. (I asked if I could run back and grab a pick from #3 lol)
I first heard the Bunker to Bunker joke from a No Laying Up video - Got me wondering which golf content creators you get inspiration from, Adam? Awesome video as always. That rough at Torrey looks insane.
I am not a golf instructor, but just want to suggest maybe checking your alignment. Could just be the camera angles but seems like you set up a fair bit right. Might explain the blocks and the pulls (your mind knows the target is left of where you're aiming so you over compensate).
Thanks David. With my driver I deliberately line up closed to target (i.e. right). But it's crept into my iron setup as well and I'm trying to change that!
Great video buddy. You have a very very shallow upswing wow. Amazing to see u get it to work. Have u ever thought to improve upon that? I am sure u can shave off a few more shots from ur game
Thanks! Indeed I'm aware of this and it's pretty extreme. To be honest, I hate practicing as much as I love playing so I've never really put in the time to address it. I'm not really chasing serious golf goals and am content to go out there and swing my swing. Maybe one day if I ever get serious about chasing better scores I'll give it a shot.
Obviously you are a great golfer without hitting it long but I wonder if you could a series on the speed training system. See how it affects your game over the next 6 months
I played Torrey right before the open every time I was in the rough I was hitting a punch out shot rough their is brutal my best punch out shoot went 50 yards
Have you considered doing speed training ? I know you can always improve other aspects, but more lenght ( if you can control it ) Just makes the game easier
Wow, funny you should ask this. I literally just picked up speed sticks this week and plan to do the training beginning in March (it's just too cold here in Vancouver right now to do it any sooner). I know I'm not disciplined enough to commit to major swing changes, and I totally agree that gaining some speed will certainly help. I'm looking forward to sharing the results with everyone!
Speed helps ! I started playing when i was 31 and im 36 now. Im only 5.5 and play off handicap 5, but im in the 165 to 172 ballspeed range. I hit it a long way for my size and what not, but my short game is crap, but it matters a bit less, when you mostly have wedges in all the time. Putting is good though. Its just really from 75 yards and in im crap
