I guess I need some more elaboration on "claude to make from scratch, and aider to iterate". The video literally showed us hot create from scratch with aider, might be wrong though.
Claude Dev wants to "auto" interate on your request...where as Aider is one shot and more controllable...if you want that However, my preference is Claude Dev + Supermaven I kinda wish Claude Dev and Aider and continue would join forces
Bro, besides doing these new ai tools updates, how about doing a monthly recommendation summary on the best tool to use? It is getting really confusing with the flood of all these different ai tools to know which ones would be the best for our individual projects.
I've tried them all, Aider, Claude Dev, supermaven etc All you need to know is Cursor is the best option right now in terms of cost + actual coding performance (with sonnet 3.5 selected). Unlimited prompting for $20/month. Use composer heavily. If you do some coding every day and prompt often it is better to use Cursor than Aider/Claudedev/anything that uses an API key. Keep an eye out for Supermaven though, which is the best AI autocomplete by far -- because its building its own IDE (could be promising)
Hey Chinese Bro, do it yourself! Because we need someone to test and compare all the alternatives so that we don't have to download and do these painful testing. This is the only channel that does this kind of comparison and testing. This is my go-to channel for that.
This was the exact video I've been waiting/hoping for; Authentic, knowledgeable and most importantly, genuine, sincere honesty on personal preferences. Not that it matters in the grand scheme of things but this video just got my subscription, my thumb up thing and on my lunch break I'll be sending a donation. Thank you for this, sincerely. I really do appreciate it.
thanks for the great content, straight to the point with no bs. Not sure if only me, but I feel overwhelmed with composers, auto programmer, auto co-pilots, then super maven, continue dev, and aider? Looking for your video explaining these aspects specifically thanks thanks =) Also, might be wrong, but you mention for free when using aider with Claude 3.5 Sonnet, but we need paid API key there , right?
Hello AICodeKIng... thanks for the video. I've been using Cursor for some weeks. There was an option to use long-context chats (at a cost of 0.20 USD per request). It was expensive but the results were quite good. With a large codebase, the answers were almost always correct. Now they decided to take this out and the answer quality degraded... I will try your recommendation of tools...
So you are using supermaven only for its autocomplete feature right?, im getting lost with all of these tools, you mention 4 different ones in this video, which one do you use for what.
Still waiting on that GCP Vertex AI setup guide. I set it up but not working with Claude Dev. It always says, "you have hit limitations" which I can only assume I am doing something wrong. Hope you drop that guide soon. Keep up the good work!
AICodeKing can you try to find something that has a similar performance as Vercel's V0. I'm a UX/UI Designer/ Developer Wannabe and I feel V0 is a super nice option for front end developing, but I would love to have an open source free/cheaper alternative. Thanks and keep up the great work! Love your Portal style voice over.
I have no idea how to use JavaScript and after watching your video within an hour of chatting with Claude Dev back-and-forth: I made a sales driven cost benefit analysis calculator for my small service-based business that will drive customers to take action and purchase my service. Incredible. One challenge I’m having is thatas the program got more complex or rather I had I guess a long conversation the token size reaches about 2 million and at this point every single question I ask it is basically charging me $.50 to make an edit. Do I just suck it up and pay Claude sonnet for these final edits when they’re like kind of big like adding a final stage of the calculator, etc. Or is this where you would use super maven? interested in your approach here for someone who doesn’t really know JavaScript when I already have the skeleton of the app and it’s 95%. I just want minor tweaks to the expanding code.
You can start a new chat. That will reduce your costs. Claude Dev is good with refactors. Or try to use Aider. I generally use that for small and simple tweaks.
Thanks again. Great content.Straight to the point. I got them all installed and working, altho with a package metadata creation error while installing aider-chat. Still seems to work. And as for previous claude-dev video , I actually got the Vertex API with Claude in claude-dev working after a hassle, but still would like your take on the necessary steps. Thanks a lot. Yours is my favourite AI channel now.
Is it necessary to set all api keys for use these tools? In my case, all my api keys throws "Your credit balance is too low to access" message. But in web sites of all theses AI tools I can use them without any problem.
Hi, King. Do you notice any significant difference between using Claude-3.5-Sonnet as both architect and editor with a benchmark of 80.5%, versus using Claude-3.5-Sonnet as the architect paired with DeepSeek as the editor, which has a benchmark of 78.9%? Is this difference relevant?
@@AICodeKingby default mode you mean Sonet? Why? DeepSeek is so cheap that almost free. If in your tests its on the similar level why to pay much more for Sonet? But DeepSeek is also very good, on similar level for programming tasks. But for >10x lower price, and also has cache... it's crazy cheap. And much better then Gemini. So I use DeepSeek for most of the tasks, and Sonet for architecture and when DS struggle. Would love to hear your experiences.
I was finally able to set up after issues with AIder set up. But after adding CLine/CLaudeDev, why use Aider when Cline has the composer capability? When would I use the Aider function rather than stay in Cline? Thanks.
Very cool! I think a discord community would be cool aswell, one thing i have a question about... can you use the claude dev extension with something that is free?
Cursor works out of the box, I don't need to install anything, or get multiple api keys to get started. Also I mostly use the tab auto complete which is far better than any other I tried.
@@tatiperez2738 my question is, 20$ a month for every model sounds too good to be true IMO. I know that what the UI claims but can you actually verify that the api is reaching the right model? idk, they are basically reselling API calls to such models and their code is private. What am I missing?
really thank you!!! Just a little question. Cursor allows you to input a URL which can then be used as part of the context for your AI interactions. This feature is useful when working with specific frameworks or documentation sources. Are there any alternative solutions?

Try DeepSeek next time you hit the quota limit. For most of the tasks it's good enough, on fraction of costs. Cache: $0.014 / 1M tokens, Input: $0.14 / 1M tokens, Output: $0.28/1M tokens. Vs Claude Sonnet: Input $3.00 / MTok Prompt caching write $3.75 Prompt caching read $0.30 / MTok Output $15 / MTok DS is crazy cheap

Supermaven for autocomplete
Continue for chat and basic refactoring
Claude Dev to make something from scratch
Aider to iterate
