I suspect if you have it generate the vmdk file in a different location that isn't write-only for the administrator account (Program Files), then you wouldn't need to run VirtualBox as an administrator to load it?
for me I had to use qemu-img because for some reason vboxmanage won't work on my flash drive. Had to then set the usb vmdk under piix4 ide ata. Left vdi under ahci sata. Ran it with efi. Spammed esc, f2, f12, and del (just to be sure) on boot. Got into boot menu. Selected ata drive option. It booted in finally. 😊

I did all of the things as explained in this video, but the VM gives me this error message while its starting up and crashes
