Sonic Pi - BEAM up the VJ | Keynote talk by Sam Aaron | Code BEAM Lite Stockholm 2023

Plenty of live code, noise and psychedelic imagery!
This talk briefly introduces Sonic Pi before taking a deep technical nose-dive into some of the interesting requirements of live coding systems. Sam Aarin then examines the architecture of Sonic Pi’s IO sub-system which is implemented on the BEAM in both Erlang and Elixir.
Once these basics are covered, we are in the perfect position to take a look at how Elixir is core to the future of Sonic Pi. The first stop in this new exciting journey and the main focus of this talk will be live coding visualisations in sync with the music.
For that we’ll need to BEAM up a VJ.

Great talk! I was playing with Sonic Pi last year and loved it.... I went down the rabbit hole and end up linking SonicPi with Reaper over my home WiFi network.
I then started using ChatGPT to code me some music USING MIDI which I pasted in SonicPi and kept the parts that I like in Reaper.
Sadly I've been too busy this year keep playing with it.
