I love the way the gong starts the lesson.... That's fantastic!!!! Usually in the movie after they hithe gong the master comes out to teach....😅 Well thought of
All these things you have been putting out have been VERY VERY useful. I'm very thankful. Short things to remember and just really like the way you put the lesson together. My playing has really really opened up and so much better. Again. Thks.
That gong after the intro was especially disturbing LOL...I had the volume up full blast, jamming out and BOOONNGGG!!!!!! I nearly came out of my skin hahaha damn you XD
You! Yes, you - the beginner or intermediate guitarist over there!! This fellow's channel should be your first port of call if you're a learner Blues or Blues Rock player - this chap offers excellent tuition for free that includes all the subtle stuff the greats incorporate into their playing! P.S., go and buy BB King's Live At The Regal and the John Mayall's Bluesbreakers album with Eric Clapton playing guitar in the meantime!
o man u just made my night again love these blues licks o yea u should do like old school blues licks like lightening hopkins muddywaters howling wolf all the famous old school blues players that would be dope
It would be awesome if you did more full solo videos like this. Also have you ever considered doing a lesson on rhythm guitar/comping? In blues (and to some extent simpler jazz) lead guitar comes waaay more naturally to me than rhythm guitar. In 12 bar blues good rhythm guitarists don’t just play the root position bar chords/power chords and they don’t play repetitive patterns, they do cool voice leading stuff that I’ve never been able to imitate.
ferk that gong is a real head bang... too loud bro... but I LOVE the lesson... gonna learn this one.. and investigate yr other stuff here... you gathered many appreciative comments... well worth checking out... but first... practice this one and remember it... thanks
Great lesson! Please, make an entire lesson explaining exactly on which beat we have to start a lick, when leaving a space, well all about timing on a 12 bar blues... Licks are cool to learn but 99% of guitar players use them with a bad timing and wonder why that sounds bad... please help i'm waiting for such a timing lesson for years....
He didn't say "pentatonic" at all for Lick # 1, but it was the Major Pentatonic, which falls 100% within the C major Scale (the key of this blues). The Major Pentatonic is BB King's secret weapon. Pure uplifting joy!!!!
You can use the Minor Pentatonic (what you referred to as Pentatonic) where he's using the Major Pentatonic, though. The flat 3rd, 6th and 7th are out of key, but sound great!!! That's actually more common.
Great lesson, but if a little more step by step and covering the fret with his fingers, it would be awesome. Sorry am just a beginner but like your lessons.
No they aren't. I just played through all them. The only thing he leaves out are different embellishments which he talks about while demonstrating the licks.
bigfatpear respectfully disagree. There's thousand of lessons on just licks. There's thousands on theory. What is less common is a good blend of both licks and where/how to use. This is perfect!
If this is too much theory for you you might not be cut out to play lead guitar. All he talks about is the difference between minor and major Blues scales which is very rudimentary stuff.
Underrated RUclips guitar teacher. Posting this on all your BB blues videos because there’s hilariously a lack of this kind of content on RUclips.
lick one 1:36
lick two 3:52
lick three 5:54
lick four 7:51
lick five 9:00
lick six 10:25
lick seven 11:42
lick eight 13:53
lick nine 14:40
lick ten 16:10
The really fucking King
the BEST instructional videos on youtube! Period.
yea - if you've been playing for 6 months.
so you could play all these licks after playing guitar for 6 months??/i don't think so!.....this guy has great skills and is a good teacher....
damien morath It's possible but you'd literally have to do nothing but practicing them everyday.
I love the way the gong starts the lesson.... That's fantastic!!!! Usually in the movie after they hithe gong the master comes out to teach....😅 Well thought of
Best teacher on the whole damm tube here !
+Candy Dormizzi 👍

Another great lesson. Really captures a bunch of core B.B. licks.
I love this lesson! You should do more 12 bar solo lessons like this
I've watched many lessons and this is great because you offer a whole toy box of phrases to play with, thanks!
That gong after the intro was especially disturbing LOL...I had the volume up full blast, jamming out and BOOONNGGG!!!!!! I nearly came out of my skin hahaha damn you XD

Yeah, I think I will do that eventually. I've done a lot of BB King, but I should definitely touch on the other classic guys.
Just discovered your channel, really useful thanks
Back again!
+Deeken Wheeler 👍
super lessons. even I sound decent😂 many thanks Kenny.
Epiphany in the realm of blues
thanks, this is awesome! Keep the BB king (major/minor mixing) lesson coming please..... can you link the backing track for future videos?

tHANKS AGAIN!
brilliant. I can play licks but I'm never certain where to go" Automatically" without thinking for the 1V chord. Thanks
Awesome lessons! Great resource to improve your guitar skills. Do ya think you can do a bunch of Richie Kotzen licks anytime soon? Thanks!
Is there any way to get you to do some Johnny Winter licks and solos? That would really be great, thanks.
Worthy!!
thanks
AWESOME....
Great lesson, thanks! Glad I found your channel....just subscribed. How would I find the same backing track?
hello, have you a backing track ? Sorry for script (i comming from switzerland)
your lessons are excellent. could you please identify an appropriate backing track? thanks.
hello...i like your lesson...just one question: what for a amps do you esed...thank you (jj from Belgium)
Sounds more like Robben Ford interpretes BB King.
Great tutorial, thanks! FYI, your microphone keeps rubbing your guitar.
Holy cow this is a smorgy of riff knowledge. Been working on these all night. Did we just become best friends?
Now that I FINALLY have time to learn these (due to Coronavirus, no work) all the timestamps are gone...
ขอบคุณมาก ผมจะลองทำตาม
สอนได้ดีมาก
ferk that gong is a real head bang... too loud bro... but I LOVE the lesson... gonna learn this one.. and investigate yr other stuff here... you gathered many appreciative comments... well worth checking out... but first... practice this one and remember it... thanks
Hello How would I find the same backing track???
Awesome, thanks for such great lessons from this Channel. But that gong sound is awfully annoying!
Yeah, that's a good idea. I'll look into it.
Thanks so much i think this will help so many blues lovers... You are an amazing musician. Cheers!
there is a mistake in the tab of lick number 2 (3:52)
The first lick your playing the major sixth which is outside the pentatonic. Would be good to mention things like that
I think it's because he's using the major pentatonic not minor over the first chord, so this does include the major 6th.
He didn't say "pentatonic" at all for Lick # 1, but it was the Major Pentatonic, which falls 100% within the C major Scale (the key of this blues). The Major Pentatonic is BB King's secret weapon. Pure uplifting joy!!!!

Do you have the entire tab?
Great teacher, thanks so much! ( The tabs are WRONG)
No they aren't. I just played through all them. The only thing he leaves out are different embellishments which he talks about while demonstrating the licks.
The action on the tele is too low, strings are buzzing.
🙏🏻🇫🇷👍🏼🍒
that awful gong! but love the lesson, thanks
Dude!! The gong is bomb!!! Great lessons!!
+Jane H lol, you are the second person to mention the gong
Don't disrespect the gong ! This is the Dojo my friend.
my adhd makes it really hard to memorize all this theory :(
+chris rivet you just have to practice it, then you don't have to memorize it. I have ADHD too 👍
I sometimes watch Instructional videos many times to absorb the info. I'm just a very slow learner.
What's with the gong at 00:30??? I was trying to play along with you right from the beginning and then wtf? You should get rid of that, please.
Yeh. I see what you mean. Would be real nice if we could hear the complete solo
Doesn't sound like bb to me
Vibrato is terrible
Too much talk and theory. That said, great lesson.
bigfatpear respectfully disagree. There's thousand of lessons on just licks. There's thousands on theory. What is less common is a good blend of both licks and where/how to use. This is perfect!
