This reminds me of my hippie days in the '60's when I made earrings.....this are marvelous! Great colors and designs. I regret that, since I no longer have a neck (!), I could never wear this but I am in love.
You can definitely paint and varnish first. It's a preference of which you like best. I don't care to paint and varnish all the little pieces. I sometimes decorate the entire front and back of the paper before cutting. I typically start with a piece of paper no bigger than 3x3, which makes it very easy to work with and use up.

Can you paint and varnish the paper first and then cut out the shapes? Also do you need something to make the paper harder?
I always do varnish as a last step on any painting project 😉 all the papers I used had a bit of weight to them….so they were just fine as they were.

Great earrings
I have heard you can use a rolling pin using those shapes to cut out, anyone know if it's true. What machine are you using. Thank you.
They are designed to work with Sizzix machines. I use the Foldaway :)
I love this earrings 😍 Have you thought of using polymer clay?
