Our first EV was a Leaf which uses a Type 1 (J1772) connector. Everything newer uses Type 2 (Mennekes) connector so going tethered would have been severely limiting down the line. Regarding making it tidy, we installed a couple of cable hooks on the wall and looped it round. Job done
