Emily Wilde's Encyclopaedia of Faeries was so amazing. I almost gave up at first bc my ND brain struggled with the academic esque writing, but it picks up very quickly. I loved Emily, could relate a lot, the whole thing was amazing. The wait for the 2nd one is a struggle :')
Emily Wilde reminded me of Katherine Brigg's Encyclopedia of Faeries, an academic text on British folk lore. I was really into folklore back in the day - 40 years ago.
I LOVED irregular witches. I loved how the characters communicated and the slow burn and the twist. LOVED it. If you haven't read The Spellshop, I HIGHLY recommend it.
I’m coming back to this video, coz i just read the very secret society of irregular witches, and I enjoyed it a lot. It’s really lite reading and I might try to read that cerulean book you said.
I'm gonna add, 1. Legends and Lattes 2. Encyclopaedia of faeries 3. The very secret society of irregular witches to my tbr ❤...mostly because of your cute description Chris. 🥰
Yesss! Im just about to finish Rhythm of War and was trying to decide what to read next. Might just quickly read Legends and Lattes as a palette cleanser!
I binge watched all your videos. We have extremely similar taste in books. Read most of ones you mentioned from all your videos and had similar likeness or dislikeness towards to each book. Only exception is,night circus, which I really love. ☺️
The closest I got to a "cozy" fantasy book was The Hobbit. For some reason, i didn't even considered the idea of cozy fantasy been a thing, I'll be definitely looking for those from now on. Ps.: Another fantastic video lesgooooo 😭🤧✨
Have you read independent author N.GALILEA ? A hidden gem. She covers the way women were showing how many times PopeXFrancis covered up abuse. REAL LIFE light and dark - theocratic dictator and the way PR is used to silence victims
Thank you so much Chris! I didn’t know that ‘cozy’ was a genre! I’ve been looking for relaxing reads for years. I’m so excited to explore your recommendations! ❤
This is the first video of yours I'm watching, I subscribed the moment you said Emily Wilde was your favorite of that year book. Second book almost put me in a reading slump too!
I luckily read Emily Wilde months before I buddy read the Psalm for the Wild- Built duology. Because I enjoyed all of them so much. I have to read other cozy fantasy books now. But seriously-buddy reading the duology was so great because I would give the first book 3 stars but buddy reading it was so fun and the second book was better in my opinion!
The secret society of Irregular Witch audiobook is also one of the most spectacular audiobooks I’ve ever listened to, which added to the already fantastic story and writing style! I recommend it to everyone I know!
I just finished the 2nd Emily Wilde book and it is even better than the first in my opinion! Love these. Can't wait for the 3rd. Psalm for the Wild Built took me forever too! I absolutely did not get the hype on that one. Glad it brought others joy though.
hey chris i loved this vid! im DEFINITELY picking up emily wildes encyclopedia of faeries literally asap based off of how much ur hyping it up!! thank you for the recs and im looking forward to the next video also for some vid ideas maybe u could do some romantasy recs?
I loved Legends and Lattes so much! And this convinced me to pick up A Wizard's Guide to Defensive Baking. If you're in the cozy witchy mood I recommend Payback's A Witch by Lana Harper (and the rest of the series). It's super cozy and fairly low stakes, with great representation. The title is a little kitsch and that almost stopped me from reading it but I'm super happy I gave it a shot. It definitely gave me that being wrapped in a warm witchy blanket feeling!
If you like, another cozy fantasy recommendation: The House Witch series by Delemhach. It has a will-they-won't-they romance, humorous banter, and funny characters. Highly recommend reading it during your wait for the next Emily Wilde book. If you like to read something that has a similar dynamic between the main characters: slow burn, banter, bit over-the-top male character, then I recommend Sorcery of Thorns (I wouldn't categorize it as cozy though)...
These books sound so wholesome! I don't necessarily miss star reviews in this video, I think it's great if you make the reviews how it works best for you ^^
I can't wait to read The Encyclopedia of Fairies, and this review just made me even more hyped to read it! The hardcover book is also absolutely stunning. It's been on my bookshelf for awhile and I just really need to get to it. I will do it for you 😂
Thank you so much for this! I can’t wait to check all of these books out! Honestly thank you so much, all your recommendations so far have been fab. Your videos are a kind of comforting that makes me feel so relaxed x edit: I just read legends and lattes and oh my goodness- it was so good! Thank you so so much for this recommendation! I would have never tried it if it weren't for this video. Genuinely such a good book x
That Encyclopaedia of Faries book reminds me of Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell by Susanna Clarke! Totally not a cozy book but it has a very scientific approach to magic
Hey chris. Great video. Honestly, I wasn't the biggest fan of Emily Wilde's Encyclopedia of Faeries. It felt to me like a worser knock-off of "A Natural History of Dragons" by Marie Brennan, which I think describes much deeper characters and cultural differencies. Also, the academic world is portrayed much more realistically. I highly recommend it.
loving ur videos so much! dying to know if you have read Gideon the Ninth or the rest of The Locked Tomb series, I am so obsessed. So gay, so dark, definitely gory but probably one of my fav books of all time!
You're the push I needed to get me a Kindle. My husband is always pushing me but im more of a hard copy person. My husband even pushed me to get a library card, so I have access to their online books for free. Thanks for these recommendations😊
I think instead of a star rating it could be cool to just say which book of the video you would recommend the most and which one you would recommend the least. I think something like that would feel a little less formal than a star rating
I want to try reading again, but I can't seem to find another book series that suits my taste. Btw the books that I really invested my time in are the Harry Potter series, the Host, series of unfortunate events, Hunger Games trilogy & the Infernal Devices trilogy. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Hi, I’m super curious about your mic, bc sounds incredible, where do you buy it? Or the name of the mic please? Sorry about the questions, but I’ve been lurking some of these but I can’t find a mic that I’m feel cool about it
Please please please (by Sabrina Carpenter) read 5 different fairy tale retellings and review em in one video. Like Snow White: The Shadow Queen by CJ Redwine or Forest of a Thousand Lanterns. Beauty and the Beast: Curse of the Wolf King or Tale as old as time. Cinderella: Cinder or So This is Love. Little Mermaid: To Kill a Kingdom. Rumpelstiltskin: Gilded and Cursed. Just anything. Fairy tale retellings can be cozy in a way cuz you know the major plot points so you can kinda know where the story goes but there’s a high chance things will get remixed and seeing how it gets remixed. And the dynamics.
Hi Chris, if this is a book that you would like, can you please check out "The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir Who Got Trapped in an Ikea Wardrobe?" I have read it a while back and I remember it being really weird and silly. The writer is Romain Puértolas. I am afraid there is now slow burn in it though, unless I forgot about it :| :) (do you also forget book stories and re-read them after like three years, or do you have good memory?)
N.Galilea 's books! READ THEM. They explore the women who stood up and showed how PopexFRANCIS gave promotions to priests who covered up abuse of children. It is dark but so inspiring and calls into question why more men are silent about the abuse and men in power being coddled. It is a tribute to milllennials.
Wow, such great recommendations!! I haven’t heard of any of these. Excited to check them out :) You have such a great perspective! I really love how you talk about each book in detail, it really helps, ha. Thanks for sharing!!
Hi, congratulations for your reviews. I have always followed your advice. I was really struck by the beauty of "Motion Detection", a thriller book that I found by chance on Amz while looking for a book by Freida McFadden. The cover intrigued me, it's an unusual book with a spectacular ending, I highly recommend it!
Ok but you and benji have become my comfort channels... You are both rekindling my burnt out hobbies.
Who is Benji? This video was just recommended to me and I liked it, would love to watch more. 📚

It's so calming to listen to you and your descriptions are so interesting :)
That light, that plant, that sweater, that skin, those eyes, and that hair.. you could be a painting in the Louvre!
Emily Wilde reminded me of Katherine Brigg's Encyclopedia of Faeries, an academic text on British folk lore. I was really into folklore back in the day - 40 years ago.
I have that book also! I dip into it every now and again :)
I LOVED irregular witches. I loved how the characters communicated and the slow burn and the twist. LOVED it. If you haven't read The Spellshop, I HIGHLY recommend it.
This is crazy, you read 5 books in that short time, when I'm reading 5 books throughout the year😭
and here i was, worrying i read too little to make a video! lol
@@chrislibrary out of these you should read “Can’t Spell Treason without Tea” fantasy whimsical also funny !
That yellow sweater is sooo nice.
I’m coming back to this video, coz i just read the very secret society of irregular witches, and I enjoyed it a lot. It’s really lite reading and I might try to read that cerulean book you said.

I discovered your channel through this video. I just started reading "A Psalm for the Wild-Built" today. Love your furry friend. Happy Reading! 😎📚👍
We need more cozy sci_ fi , I liked the idea so much
These videos are so relaxing to just watch and chill with!
All these books sound so fun and cosy! I haven't read much fiction in years but might have to get back into it!
Here watching after your Q&A video with Benj. You are both adorable. Much love from PH🇵🇭

thank you :’)

I loved legends and lattes and Emily Wilde's, I have added the others to my to read list as well! Do you have a goodreads account to follow?
yes! it’s linked in the description :)
We deff have similar tastes!!
Review something by George Eliot. If Middlemarch is too daunting, perhaps Daniel Deronda would work for you.

thanks for the recommendation, i’ll check it out! and it definitely depends, sometimes i’ll go back and reread but only if i really loved a book!
I got carried away by your shirt... could you please share where did you get it 😂
it’s from hi fi fnk in 2018, i don’t think they sell it anymore :(
Would love to see a video reviewing queer novels!

I'm looking for a witchy book for adults. Like Dracula is Twilight for adults.
May I? Practical Magic by Alice Hoffman.
@@JinheeReads Thank you! I'll check it out!
