She was not born a singer. And she was in an orphanage where her adopted mom now, worked. She could not even talk. Her adopted mom arranged for her to have singing lessons to help her talk. She suffered much from her birth mother who actually tried to kill her.

You can't help but cheer for Diana from triumphing over such a horrible early youth.
Beaten, broken collar bone, and abandoned by her mother at a bus stop in winter.
She couldn't talk but she like cartoon songs. Her adoptive mother was recommended to give her singing lessons to help her speech.
God blessed her with her timbre but she has worked very hard.

In the Spring of ’23 Diana performed on the Russian version of the Masked Singer Show at the age of 19. On the first five performances, she disguised her voice so the performances didn’t attract much attention and I didn’t know the show existed. But then with the sixth performance, California Dreaming, she was told by the producers to drop the voice disguise and the next morning I knew about it on the other side of the world.

She is a true Contrato, phenomenal tone, resonance, control and range, when I first heard her it felt like she was possessed by 100 angels crying out to 100 demons chanting, absolutely amazing.

Her voice from start is incredible
Short version: She is fron Arsenyev (sp?) on the east coast of Russia, north of China "near" Vladivostok but left as a child to Tolyatti, southern Russia near Samara, then to Moscow when she won this competition you are watching and was gifted an apartment from the Igor Krutoy foundation to study there. She is now 20. One original album, pop, nice. A few original songs of her own composition, many gifted by other artists. Lots and lots and LOTs of covers, which feel as if they are originals, the way she does things is unique. And on unique, she is a polyphonic dramatic contralto, the lowest female voice type but with overtones. That we know of there is one. But not only that, she can emote like possibly no other, she puts an intensity in her songs that is, at least, unusual. I urge you to keep reacting, she has not yet "made it" although she is well known in Russia, and no artist deserves recognition more. Other than the above she is just a normal young woman :)

It is based on Russian folktales about a young betrothed orphan girl who goes to the river, the boundary between the living and the dead, to ask her deceased mother's blessing for her marriage.

Ironically, Diana herself was an orphan who was abused and abandoned by her alcoholic mother at age 3. Because of this beginning, she had speech problems and was given singing lessons to help improve her speech. Her talent was quickly recognized and the rest is history.

In 2019 Diana sang this song in the singing competition 'You are super' (she was 15 years old). This competition is unique in the world, an international TV- competition, especially for adopted and orphaned children.
In 2018 and 2019 Diana entered this unique competition and won twice.
The winner of the season will be determined by a 6-day public vote and the final took place in the Kremlin Palace and her videos were uploaded to RUclips and soon she had millions of fans. She called us Friends.
The project producers help the finalists start their studies and encourage their creativity. Diana won a scholarship.
Igor Krutoy, here in "You are Super" as a juror, gave Diana a small apartment (37m²/ 398 ft²) in Moscow with the words: Live and sing!

With this "harpoon" Diana impresses almost everyone from the first seconds ... and attracts the listener, up to the last second of the performance ... And the spectator has only to "helplessly" allow her to pull herself out of the zone of the already familiar world vocal - into the zone of her element ... into the zone of Diana's musical tornado ...! I noticed you recently started going down the Dimash rabbit hole,, Well Igor Krutoy, the famous composer who had retired, but came out of retirement to work with Dimash, (he is on the judging table here) also took Diana under his wing. Diana reminds me of the mythical siren, whose voice hypnotized sailors and led them to their deaths. She is a true rare contralto and has polyphonic capabilities, which apparently allows her to sing two notes at the same time. Which is amazing considering she was unable to speak a word at the age of 4 years. She was found in the snow, abandoned by her mother who was/is a drug addict, and had tried to drown Diana in the bathtub, leaving her with a broken arm/collarbone and covered in bruises. It was yodeling lessons, arranged by her then-foster mom & speech therapist, that helped find Diana's voice. The foster mom is now her adoptive mom.
Here are three reasons why Diana (the Queen of Goosebumps) doesn't sound human. First, she is a contralto, which is the absolute rarest type of female voice. It allows her to sing very dramatic/powerful, very (I mean VERY) deep, very dark, very rich. Second, she has a spectacular larynx. She's been called the vocal Eighth Wonder of the World. Third, she is polyphonic, which means she can produce multiple harmonics within her voice at the same time. This is what allows her to sound like two people at once. (more below) When you add all that up you basically get a person who creates her own auto-tune. She doesn't need electronic auto-tune. She IS her own auto-tune. And the effect when you hear her is totally mind-blowing. It's like she's singing right through you, like a sword straight into your soul. Literally NOBODY else on the planet has a voice like hers. She's not one in a million, she's one in eight billion. Having watched well over 100 initial reactions to her, only one did NOT say she was "unique".

I actually found out about Diana before Dimash - Diana has been popular online since about the age of 14. You just experienced a (true) Dramatic Contralto at the young age of 15yrs old. Now 20yrs old and has expanded her range both higher and lower. In I can't help falling in love at 18yrs old she sang C3 to Bb5. Now at 20yrs old in her latest lyric video THE DAY YOU ( imo is her best vocal performerance) she sustains a D6 and shows off her upper range. Best thing...... Diana will continue to widen and devalope her range into her middle to late 20's. Good luck in this maze of a rabbit hole, she never disappoints.

She is truly remarkable, she has sung songs in english, fench, russian, Spanish, german , abd arabic . She is from Russian and is 20 years old. She is a master at yodeling you can hear semi yodeking in many of her songs. She was on a singing contest whe. She was betweew 6-9 she was yodeling and no judge hit their buzzer. She not only has good vocals she writes 85 percent of the arrangements for her songs . She is also a veey good story teller. You should check out her rendition of Rechenka when she was 14. It is in russian , but you would be amazed

Cher hits E6 in "Just This One Time," which is a step higher than D6, Diana's highest note to date, and her lower limit is C3, which is as low as I have heard Diana sing.
(I know you have suggested she sings A2 in Sweet Dreams, but I don't hear it. In any case, even if she has got down to A2, that would only make her range a half-step greater than Cher's.)

I am not sure about Sweet dreams go listen to her sing Ataman's song with Sasha she sings it in the Original key witch is A2.
I am not talking about extremes though forget maximum and minimum, Cher never goes beyond 2 Octaves in the majority of her songs while Diana usually sings on three.

I tried to take account of that when saying that the quality of Diana's voice is so superior.
But I also meant that even when the extremes are avoided, Diana's voice is vastly superior.
(In fact, it is the most expressive and most beautiful voice that I have ever heard.)

Hi Pegasus I'm listening her since 5-6 years now and each time I'm amazed to see her evolution and her sound quality. She should have 100,000,000 views for a lot of her songs but I think RUclips hide her total views probably because she's russian !!! She has probably 20-30 real hits songs that she transformed in her own style. Diana is a contralto and when they get low, they can sound like a dude. It's such a unique sound to hear a female timbre rumbling down in baritone ranges. Just Google 'contralto' to listen to some amazingly low female voices. Many women in gospel, jazz, soul and R&B were contraltos providing a deep, smokey voice that just seemed to smoulder as they sang.
