I have a 2022 RAV4 Trail and found this driveway build; just what I was looking for. I enjoyed watching it all come together. Thanks for taking the time to share it with us. Do consider offering a build kit, maybe a flat pack like Ikea furniture. At least a set of plans. Play safe from Elliot Lake, Ontario, Canada.
Really well done, I like that design for storage in the front area and the side lift to access. I have a 4Runner so looking for different ideas from other vehicles.
In Sam's or Costco, you can get flat and plain cardboard sheets from tissue-paper or paper towel pallets. They are large but thin and flexible, making it easier to cut out templates.
Awesome tip, thanks! I do things cheap though because I’ve never had a lot of money and what money I do have I try to use effectively. A membership to a store isn’t for me but I’m sure someone will appreciate that insight. $1-$3 boxes for me at Walmart for the win!
I have a 2002 Rav4 and looking for camper options. Love the video and looking forward how you will be dealing with other issues , like electrical, cooking and bathroom needs. You have a great build out base to add to.
Bon job !
Thanks! Yeah it’s a small car so there isn’t much you can do. Either more room on top and less on the bottom, or more on the bottom and it feel like a coffin on top. I prefer more on the top because I don’t have much in terms of stuff.
I haven't finished the vid yet, but one thing that jumped out to me as a fellow rav4 Hybrid owner is that we are going to have to be careful to not block the vents under the passenger side rear seat. From what I've read blocking those can cause overheating issues with the hybrid systems battery.
And finally, were you tempted to do more sound insulation? Nothing I like better than a quiet car and you really got me going with your sound insulation and I'm thinking why stop there why not do the wheel wells and the side panels?
Hey Leah! Yes. They made a big difference for me. Still doesn’t take the noise out completely but definitely helped. The seats don’t even dampen the sound that much, so anything is better than nothing. Hope this helps!
@@smitheys cool thanks for responding. I have a Volvo V70 at the moment and looking for a vehicle that can double as a car camper. I'm sort of torn between the gas mileage of the RAV4 and the upgrade of the Highlander. Also thinking about a sienna with the headroom.
What mil and square footage silless sound deadener did you use? Thanks I've tried stealth car camping in my rav4 in Los angeles and it was super noisey. Look forward to more videos! EDIT I FOUND THE LINK IN ANOTHER VIDEO YOU MADE.
Hey, sorry I saw in another comment you found the link so I didn’t respond. Just one box is all you need. I used a little more than half the box. It won’t stop all the noise, if that’s what you’re hoping. I mean maybe if you put layer upon layer, but it’ll never stop all the noise. Best example I can give is a soft muffle; like cupping your ears. Ha, weird example but it explains it a little better.
I have not done that just yet, got really busy and honestly forgot about it. Filming and RUclips has been on the back burner. I’ll get to this really soon, thanks for the reminder!
Hey! From the platform to the ceiling/roof, it’s about 33-36 inches depending on where you measure too and from. In the center of my platform, near the dome-light, it’s 36”. At the back door it’s closer to 33” Hope this helps! Sorry for the delay in response.
I bounce around with my cars, haha, but yes I have a 4Runner. I haven’t filmed the newest one because I’ve had some health issues but I will be filming it pretty soon. Thanks for asking!

Honestly really like the thought process behind this and you didn't build it with a 100k dollar workshop. Respect
Absolutely amazing work! Love your attention to detail! I also watched your 4Runner build, and that was just as impressive.
Did you take out 2nd row seats? Did you mention that? First timers like me can get confused
This is such a rad build! Thank you for sharing.

Thank you! Yeah I had a 4Runner as well and I have a few 4Runner builds you can check out. Thanks for watching!
This is brilliant!
If you had a spare tire rack on the outside of your car.......you would have a crazy amount of additional space inside!

They're called slip sheets
@smitheys you don't need a membership or spend $1-3 to go and grab those sheets and empty cartons left near the exit for free.
Thanks for sharing your brilliant ideas . You make it look simple.
It would be nice to see a few more details. Not sure how you attach some of the plywood supporting brackets. And also what kind of carpet that was.

Nice build. I would consider leaving more room under to gain more storage space

It's very good job, i have Rav4 Hybrid 2022 . Maybe you have some tricks for me.

very creative build good job
You use some sort of measurement tool for the measurement angles. I've never used this tool - what is it called?
Great ideas for my Rav4
Smithey, the RAV4 cargo bed platform looks good. I sent you photos in an email of my 4runner cargo bed platform. 😁👍
Thanks!! I try and keep it simple and somewhat presentable, haha. I don’t think I got your email, can you try again?
Hi Smithy, do you think that sound deadening application that you did has made a big difference? How do you feel now that you're a few months out?
Hey Leah! Yes. They made a big difference for me. Still doesn’t take the noise out completely but definitely helped. The seats don’t even dampen the sound that much, so anything is better than nothing. Hope this helps!

EDIT I FOUND THE LINK IN ANOTHER VIDEO YOU MADE.
Hello, did you ever find out how much of it you needed and was it the 80 mil? I am buying it as well but don't want to over do it. Thanks in advanced.

@@smitheys Thank you!
@venwithus no problem!
What year Rav4 is this?
I have a 2019 RAV4 LE (base model)
Thanks man!!
Did u install the inside rear hatch release/open switch?

Hi! Rav4 ..What is the height from floor to ceiling?

No more 4runner?

Found it
Glad you found it! Hopefully it helped you out!!
