She is the one who filled up all the forms, went and submitted the money , booked appointments, prepared my mom for visa interview, got printouts etc, without her it wouldn’t be this smooth. Before you accuse someone so rudely please know how much effort they put. She isn’t just educated she’s got a law degree and is busy in her life and preparing for some very important exams despite of that she took off to take my mom for her visa interview. The appointment was taken more than a year ago and everyone somehow forgot about the biometrics no one did it’s on purpose. It’s more of a sadness than anything else because it’s been so long and we all were looking forward to be together finally it’s not fair to blame her it’s not her job to take any initiative she does more than enough and because of her I am very much stress free when it comes to my parents . It’s easy to send money but the responsibilities she takes are far more difficult, time consuming and stressful and I am thankful for that.

Cause he and your children should have some connection with Indian culture and heritage. So far your children are bonded with Richard's family only. Now It should be other way around. That will be a true multicultural marriage. However you try, being in US your children will never be able to connect to India unless and until they are taken there.

She is very rooted and her kids are well aware of their mother’s culture, heritage and even religion and so is Richard. Starring from teaching them her language to classical dance she makes sure to keep them connected to her culture. I have seen people living in India are more westernized than NRIS living in the west. Not sure where you live but I lived here in the States for over 35 years now and barely have anyone back in India so we barely go back to India but my kids are well aware of their culture and background. Taking a trip once in a while will not make any difference yes they will enjoy a different atmosphere but learning can take place at home which is actually happening. Planning a trip with 6 people probably isn’t the easiest thing given she has so much on her plate already. Rumela you are doing great don’t pay heed to unwanted advice. Yes, INDIANS are more westernized inside India than outside. That's the irony of life! She brought her green card issue and I commented specifically on that point. By the way, however you try to give your kids Indian roots while being away from India, you know it very well after a certain time KIDS WILL turn WESTERN once adult. Cause he and your children should have some connection with Indian culture and heritage. So far your children are bonded with Richard's family only. Now It should be other way around. That will be a true multicultural marriage. However you try, being in US your children will never be able to connect to India unless and until they are taken there.

culture, heritage and even religion and so is Richard. Starring from teaching them her language to classical dance she makes sure to keep them connected to her culture. I have seen people living in India are more westernized than NRIS living in the west. Not sure where you live but I lived here in the States for over 35 years now and barely have anyone back in India so we barely go back to India but my kids are well aware of their culture and background. Taking a trip once in a while will not make any difference yes they will enjoy a different atmosphere but learning can take place at home which is actually happening. Planning a trip with 6 people probably isn’t the easiest thing given she has so much on her plate already. Rumela you are doing great don’t pay heed to unwanted advice. Reapply for your mom’s visa she will be here soon.

You PLEASE read my comment properly and then make a comment. DID I anywhere say that she is NOT giving culture to her kids??????? DID I anywhere say that she is NOT rooted to her culture?????? All I wanted to say as she was upset that her mother could not come and if she had a way to go, then she should go. Traveling with 4 kids is NOT easy , that everybody knows, but somebody wants, he / she WILL make a way to go.. Finance is A VERY BIG FACTOR. I have seen people from my family with 3 young kids are traveling every 2 years. Her husband does not accompany her every time, BUT she makes it sure that she goes every two years, cause she does not want her kids to be fully westernized. FOR that to happen, she sacrifices her other things of life. It DEFINITELY depends on WHO WANTS TO DO WHAT AND IF HIS / HER CIRCUMSTANCES ARE SUPPORTING THAT THING TO HAPPEN. Yes, INDIANS are more westernized inside India than outside. That's the irony of life! She brought her green card issue and I commented specifically on that point. By the way, however you try to give your kids Indian roots while being away from India, you know it very well after a certain time KIDS WILL turn WESTERN once adult. It is because physical connection is VERY IMPORTANT for ANY KIND of BONDING, be it human or place. That is a forever truth.

You do not have family remaining there BUT Romela has her very own parents and sister still living there. What more closest family a person can have to plan a visit to India? BTW I Stay in Canada and I never uprooted myself from India. My parents are NO more alive and my kids are grown up and they all love traveling India on their own cause the bonding they had with their grand parents. At the end of the day, your life will be how you define it to be. Challenges are sure to come on the way, but if you have a spirit, you will overcome them.
@lotusurenus6984 before you keep giving unwanted advice and compare my situation with yours and expect everyone to do what you are or have been doing and focus on what my kids should learn etc please learn the basic manner or spelling someone’s name correctly. Romela, ami randomly tomar video dekhi, kintu comments kora hoina. Bujhte parlumna, if you are on Green card, you should have NO problem in getting out of US. Thousands people are traveling. ONLY that you should make sure that your green card has enough time in hand from the date of expiry when you are traveling. I mean, your green card has to have six months to 1 year period to expire. Because if your greencard expires during your travel time, then you might face some complication, but they can not deny your entry to US. It WILL JUST KILL time.
I think you commented the same before and I forgot to reply back. My 2 years GC has expired and I have applied for 10 yrs GC and awaiting approval so I just don’t want to go while waiting for it get approved.
