    The 2026 Lexus LC 500 ($116,680 starting in Canada, $99,750 starting in the US) and the 2026 Porsche 911 Carrera ($143,600 starting in Canada, $132,300 starting in the US) are two terrific options in the sports touring category. The LC 500 with its brutish 5.0L V8 and roaring symphony of exhaust notes, approaches sports car fun differently to the clinically precise and svelte 911 Carrera. But which would you choose? And which is actually more fun to drive? Thomas and James can’t wait to find out! We hope you enjoy the episode. Subscribe!

      Yeah, as a rental car. An actual Owner is not going to continue to do that to their car daily. After that party trick is over, now what? You’re stuck with a pretty boring, slow car.

      @DEZ2255-hg2ydagreed 100%, drove one for half a year as a daily, it’s a good car but not great, much better choices out there with much better tech, performance, and even quality lol

    This is why I watch Throttle House, I love that you give your honest opinions. Mainstream media are so focused on 0-60 times and lap times they are missing the point that 99.9% of owners never go to a track. What really matters is how a car makes you feel, when looking at it, sitting in it and driving it.

    • @timjones7336
      @timjones7336 7 months ago +5

      Yeah, people who do take their cars to the track are taking far older cars, or much more specialised cars. These are….. just ordinary, new, road cars.

      I don't think you've ever been on a track. 0-60 has nothing to do with track performance.
      How a car handles is all that matters on a track.

    • @stocksxbondage
      @stocksxbondage 5 months ago +4

      @johnthomson3070Ironically, by trying to call him out, you’re proving his point even further 😂 99.99% of people don’t care/know about what happens on a track. They have discretionary income and just want to have a little fun from point A to point B.

    I have owned both a gray 911 and now I own a beautiful sapphire blue LC 500. I refuse to denigrate the 911 to elevate the LC 500. They are both incredible cars but they’re just plain different. I’m 56 now and I enjoy how incredibly comfortable the LC 500 is and I’ve had it for three years and every time I walk up on it I’m just blown away with how beautiful it is. The exhaust note was what closed the deal for me on the day. I bought it. It feels like the car that Bruce Wayne or Tony Stark would drive as a daily. LC not only makes you feel cool, but smart too.

    • @j.a.g.8689
      @j.a.g.8689 7 months ago +182

      Thats what I was thinking. Both great cars but built for different reasons. The 911 is a scapel that will honestly do anything that you'll ask of it. Whereas the Lexus is more of a GT car

      I really respect your not “denigrating” one car to praise the other. Both are excellent cars that have their own very positive attributes. I’ve driven the 911 and highly appreciate and admire what it is. Nonetheless, for my particular priorities and taste the LC 500 is where I choose to spend my money. It’s a truly fabulous automobile I simply prefer (Without any need to put down the 911).

      The LC500 is what Bruce Wayne would drive, the Porsche is what Batman would drive...

  • @GoneRogueGarage
    @GoneRogueGarage 7 months ago +388

    My biggest critique of the LC500 isn't even the car. It's that Lexus got that interior *so right* 8 years ago...and then somehow forgot how to do it again in every other Lexus. There's nothing over-the-top difficult to what they created, other than high quality leather and Alcantara, but they seem unable to reproduce it in other models. Japanese luxury cars are pretty nice inside, but they always seem to struggle to feel truly luxurious. They're more tech than opulence. It's like there's an invisible wall they just can't climb over. Yet the LC500 effortlessly glides by without resorting to gimmicky screens, lights, haptic nonsense, or the dreaded piano black. They really need to promote whoever was in charge of the interior of the LC, and give them control of everything Lexus.

    • @RaysJDM
      @RaysJDM 7 months ago +41

      This! Finally someone who shares the same opinion! How can lexus launch something so good (interiorwise) and then keep on producing interiors with a fax machine glued to center consol? WHY
      I was thinking about and rcf or isf for a daily, but I cannot go over the interior...

    • @TheWallsocket
      @TheWallsocket 7 months ago +9

      @RaysJDM well the LC is 100k, RCF was 70k, ISF 60k. All have the same engine.
      If everyone wanted to pay an extra $10-15k for an interior on the LC500 level they would do that, but people don’t want to pay for it so they don’t do it except in their one niche car, which sells in much lower volume.

    • @dlg5485
      @dlg5485 7 months ago +12

      The LC and LS are (were) Lexus's flagship models, so this has to be something special compared to their other models. Also, if their lower models were built to this standard, they'd be a lot more expensive.

      It's called the "Hollywood Punch"
      The more controversial and more dangerous "Gregson Punch" which uses real feather like touch, and requires more skill, timing and practice but looks better on film. The Major Studios have banned the "Gregson Punch" being used for safety concerns.

    For my 16th birthday i saved up $200 to rent a lc 500 on turo in vegas. i looked at all the cars in my budget but decided that stretching another $99 and decided that it was worth the spend. I watched every video on the lc500 lhree times and couldnt sleep for weeks as i waited for the day i scheduled in advance. And since that day 5 years later its been my dream car and ive watched them depreciate every day on autotrader and now even appreciate. And ik some day i might not even be able to afford one. But dang if its not a spectacular car. Its been my screen saver since covid much to my gf disdain (she thinks it should be her) but man ome day whether i buy it new, used, or crashed on copart i will own one and die a happy man

      I've seen them get to about 70k NZD for JDM models (that's about 40k usd). But pretty sure they went up in the last year or so again to 50-60k range.

    My two favorite car manufacturers. I think if you push the 911 on a windy road or on the track it will release your emotions. But as a 63 year old man (and I'm not a dentist) that has owned a 911, 951 and an SC 430, in the past, I think I would take the LC500 hands down! Thanks for the video guys!!!

    The best spec for an LC500 is Nori Green Pearl with the tan interior. Green and tan simply go hand and hand. When I think of a grand tourer, my mind immediately goes to the LC500. I'm in my 20s, and I would go for the LC500 any day. xD

    • @Hythe01
      @Hythe01 7 months ago +20

      Exactly how I specced mine, also with the dynamic handling package. Guarantee that on back roads as bumpy as the ones I often frequent, it’s a lot more pleasant to hustle than a 911. The Carrera might get you there a few seconds sooner, but I’m not sure you’d be any happier… I’ve owned a 911 before, as well as Lotus and fast BMWs - I don’t claim the LC is the best car ever, certainly not the fastest, but some cars just have a little bit of extra magic, which you cannot find on any spec sheet. This is one of those.
      P.S. not a retired dentist…

      Having driven a 911 (though not a 992) and a couple of LC 500s... they are very, very different cars. The Porsche feels more like a true sports car - lower and more agile. However, the LC also handles pretty well given it weighs over 4,000 pounds, and it sounds even better in person. It also has an exquisite interior. The 911 has a ... nice interior, but nothing super luxurious like the LC. I don't know what I'd go for. Probably the LC, since my bank account isn't setup for Porsche maintenance if I am being honest.

      There are probably a dozen LC500s in my neighborhood, all used as daily drivers. These folks are mostly Kodak and Xerox retirees collecting a big fat pension. It's the perfect car for a narrow population of people who ruined once legendary companies due to their smugness and apathy. It's pretty much the same attitude I got from the salespeople at Lexus when I looked at the RC350.

    Imo, i would take the LC any day but for one simple reason, yes the 911 is faster in any single way, its also more flashy and all and when going 10 10s punches above its class. But i want to have fun while driving, i want to hear a NA V8 roaring while doing some nice secondary roads, also being so comfy that I wouldn’t even mind having to cross Europe to go and visit some friends here and there knowing that the reliability wont leave me stranded anywhere, its a Lexus.

    To be fair, the LC500 is the gentleman's grand tourer, and the 911 is the gentleman's racer that still works on the street. Me personally, had I not a grown family, the LC500 would be my choice, too. Comfortable, looks fantastic in person and rolling around, and the engine is such a proven jewel. For those with kids, the IC500 it is (formerly the IS-F).
