The 2026 Lexus LC 500 ($116,680 starting in Canada, $99,750 starting in the US) and the 2026 Porsche 911 Carrera ($143,600 starting in Canada, $132,300 starting in the US) are two terrific options in the sports touring category. The LC 500 with its brutish 5.0L V8 and roaring symphony of exhaust notes, approaches sports car fun differently to the clinically precise and svelte 911 Carrera. But which would you choose? And which is actually more fun to drive? Thomas and James can’t wait to find out! We hope you enjoy the episode. Subscribe!

the banging of the rev limiter in the lc500 never gets old
Yeah, as a rental car. An actual Owner is not going to continue to do that to their car daily. After that party trick is over, now what? You’re stuck with a pretty boring, slow car.
@DEZ2255-hg2ydagreed 100%, drove one for half a year as a daily, it’s a good car but not great, much better choices out there with much better tech, performance, and even quality lol
@DEZ2255-hg2yd This thing is far from boring, it aint even that slow, what are you even talking about man.
Didn’t know it so that
@Strategic.Acquirer It is a great car, like thomas said, this is one of the greatest gran touring cars available, the quality of lexus cars is really good, its an aexcellent daily
The LC is art, the Porsche is science.
In a world where everyone is doing the science, I genuinely appreciate the LC artistic approach to automotive design.
Ya nailed it
Everyone is not doing science lol
Well, Lexus is making art, just don't look at the new ES. That isn't art or science, it's garbage
@kuro_5337
Don’t rub salt in the wound it’s too soon
The previous ES was incredible for the right customer and the new one is just so horrific
The LC is piece of Crap its Not Art. It's over done styling that screams Try Hard..Yet its underdone in a big way.. Nothing I dislike more.
Me everytime i see an LC500 in a different, uniquely incredible spec on this channel:
*THEY CAN'T KEEP GETTING AWAY WITH IT!*
There’s like 5 different colors lmao, this car is the opposite of unique bespoke builds
@Strategic.Acquirer Just what is advertised as standards options on the Lexus website. But with these low-production models, you can go the "Bespoke" route and customize it heavily
the Lexus luxury coupe is such a beautifully designed car timeless for sure. wish the had a no screen option
@Strategic.Acquirerrandom hate outta no where lol
I'm not sure how many know the reference of this caption
This is why I watch Throttle House, I love that you give your honest opinions. Mainstream media are so focused on 0-60 times and lap times they are missing the point that 99.9% of owners never go to a track. What really matters is how a car makes you feel, when looking at it, sitting in it and driving it.
Yeah, people who do take their cars to the track are taking far older cars, or much more specialised cars. These are….. just ordinary, new, road cars.
@timjones7336Ordinary cars. 🤣👍
I don't think you've ever been on a track. 0-60 has nothing to do with track performance.
How a car handles is all that matters on a track.
@johnthomson3070Ironically, by trying to call him out, you’re proving his point even further 😂 99.99% of people don’t care/know about what happens on a track. They have discretionary income and just want to have a little fun from point A to point B.
Nothing makes you feel better than being behind the wheel of a Porsche
There’s something about the LC500 that draws your attention. Legit looks like art, even if you don’t care about cars. That V8 is sublime.
New welcome to Throttle House opening video! Thanks for keeping the "Get In Helmet" clip. Please keep it forever in
FOR. EVER. It must! I will NOT have my Throttle House without that *thunk*.
+1
+1. And that opening fake punch deserves a turn in the next version.
Bought my i8 Roadster after watching that video… 😂
+1 only sad that the Land Cruiser jump still hasn't made its way in 😢 maybe one day 💭
I have owned both a gray 911 and now I own a beautiful sapphire blue LC 500. I refuse to denigrate the 911 to elevate the LC 500. They are both incredible cars but they’re just plain different. I’m 56 now and I enjoy how incredibly comfortable the LC 500 is and I’ve had it for three years and every time I walk up on it I’m just blown away with how beautiful it is. The exhaust note was what closed the deal for me on the day. I bought it. It feels like the car that Bruce Wayne or Tony Stark would drive as a daily. LC not only makes you feel cool, but smart too.
Thats what I was thinking. Both great cars but built for different reasons. The 911 is a scapel that will honestly do anything that you'll ask of it. Whereas the Lexus is more of a GT car
Are you a retired dentist by any chance?
Wonderful comment and bang on.
@jpsIV
I really respect your not “denigrating” one car to praise the other. Both are excellent cars that have their own very positive attributes. I’ve driven the 911 and highly appreciate and admire what it is. Nonetheless, for my particular priorities and taste the LC 500 is where I choose to spend my money. It’s a truly fabulous automobile I simply prefer (Without any need to put down the 911).
The LC500 is what Bruce Wayne would drive, the Porsche is what Batman would drive...
My biggest critique of the LC500 isn't even the car. It's that Lexus got that interior *so right* 8 years ago...and then somehow forgot how to do it again in every other Lexus. There's nothing over-the-top difficult to what they created, other than high quality leather and Alcantara, but they seem unable to reproduce it in other models. Japanese luxury cars are pretty nice inside, but they always seem to struggle to feel truly luxurious. They're more tech than opulence. It's like there's an invisible wall they just can't climb over. Yet the LC500 effortlessly glides by without resorting to gimmicky screens, lights, haptic nonsense, or the dreaded piano black. They really need to promote whoever was in charge of the interior of the LC, and give them control of everything Lexus.
This! Finally someone who shares the same opinion! How can lexus launch something so good (interiorwise) and then keep on producing interiors with a fax machine glued to center consol? WHY
I was thinking about and rcf or isf for a daily, but I cannot go over the interior...
@RaysJDM well the LC is 100k, RCF was 70k, ISF 60k. All have the same engine.
If everyone wanted to pay an extra $10-15k for an interior on the LC500 level they would do that, but people don’t want to pay for it so they don’t do it except in their one niche car, which sells in much lower volume.
The LC and LS are (were) Lexus's flagship models, so this has to be something special compared to their other models. Also, if their lower models were built to this standard, they'd be a lot more expensive.
Spot on. Have you seen how generic the interior of the new ES is?
FRFR
If Ferrari had made the LC 500, it would cost about 3 times more, and it wouldn't have the reliability that the LC 500 has.
14:17 I’ve always felt the engine cover of the 911 looks familiar but I couldn’t figure out what it was. Until I see them here when the fans are working, I realised that it looks like a graphics card.
Both of these machines are going to be future classics!
porsche not, lc500 yes
Only Porsche with shifters will be classic in future! The PDK is fast for racetrack but not so pure like the 911ST or old GT2s and GT3s ❤
@NomenClature-o8s I think that the Lc500 is going to look old, the 911 wont
@NomenClature-o8swith the amount of German electronics in them (and now an F1-style MGU-H)? Take a guess
@NomenClature-o8s there is 0% chance regular carrera or any trim below GT3 would be classic
Just in time for my lunch break
Same
same here!
lol put lunch in headphones on let’s go
I own a copper crest 2024 LC 500. Its undoubtedly the most gorgeous car I have ever seen in my life. Every time I see it I can't help but smile. And its fast enough for me, its hitting all the speed limits in 3 seconds. Perfect for a daily driver.
It is indeed a joy to look at and experience. Enjoy!
My Camry goes 0-60 in 3 business days 😎
Unbelievable! The Copper Crest 2024 LC 500 you’re bragging about is my car. I’ve poured my heart into it since the day I drove it off the lot - and now you’re out here claiming ownership? The audacity of some people is just unreal.
@Hinterhof-qx5qlwe all know you can’t afford it
“Breaks all speed limits” and “perfect daily” in the same sentence is wild 😁
Congrats!
5:50 that switch to the 911s interior says it all
The LC500 hype train is one of the most deserved. Keep seeing more of em
Gotta say, y'all sold that punch pretty freaking well.
That's the stacking, with carrying the action with perfect timing.
It's called the "Hollywood Punch"
The more controversial and more dangerous "Gregson Punch" which uses real feather like touch, and requires more skill, timing and practice but looks better on film. The Major Studios have banned the "Gregson Punch" being used for safety concerns.
0:36 that was payback for everything James had done to him 🤣🤣
I saw weather tech vengence!
"PP said I should probably call her back" had me rolling😂😂💔
The LC500 is a living legend. It doesn't need to be updated because it is so beautiful. It's just a fun, gorgeous, luxury cruiser.
For my 16th birthday i saved up $200 to rent a lc 500 on turo in vegas. i looked at all the cars in my budget but decided that stretching another $99 and decided that it was worth the spend. I watched every video on the lc500 lhree times and couldnt sleep for weeks as i waited for the day i scheduled in advance. And since that day 5 years later its been my dream car and ive watched them depreciate every day on autotrader and now even appreciate. And ik some day i might not even be able to afford one. But dang if its not a spectacular car. Its been my screen saver since covid much to my gf disdain (she thinks it should be her) but man ome day whether i buy it new, used, or crashed on copart i will own one and die a happy man
You’ll get a full LC man I have faith in you
@onikai7055thanks man keep enjoying you lc man im sure it was earned.
@axelvejar4749lol it wasnt warned at all depending on your view of earned
this is an amazing comment my bro. you will get that which you want!
Uh, you can't rent a car on Turo at age 16. You can't even rent a scooter at that age. But I do hope you can afford it one day.
Stop reviewing the LC 500. I haven't bought one yet, not making it any easier.😢
100%...I'm still a couple months away from that dentist money. 😂
If it helps make more sales for it, then keep at it! If the car keeps going the it’s better for consumers
There is no rush. Plenty are available on the used car market.
@drstevej2527 People want them to depreciate more.
Thing is I don't think they will, it's closest you can get to LFA without the price.
I've seen them get to about 70k NZD for JDM models (that's about 40k usd). But pretty sure they went up in the last year or so again to 50-60k range.
@N4CR
When something depreciates it means that no one is buying it. There is a reason for this.
Thomas - black shoes and a brown belt is diabolical though...
- signed, a 911 owner
It's a matter of self respect, honestly. Like going out in pajamas
I was just looking at the LC500 over the weekend :)
The only thing I don't agree with...some people say it's the spiritual successor to the LFA. And I believe there was nothing like the LFA. It's my favorite supercar, and I dream of owning one, every time I play the lottery 😅
13:56 JAMES LOWKEY SPITTING
Yes the LC is a masterpiece. I own a '21 convertible and will never sell it.
Sold my '21 nightfall mica convertible for a '24 ultrasonic blue bespoke. Literally the only way I'd ever sell mine: to get another (better) one.
22:40 😮sweet sound.
My favorite thing about the LC500 is it’s a Toyota. CarCareNut made an amazing video talking about the quality and simplicity of not only the body and interior, but also the maintenance-friendly way everything is designed. Truly a car I can see owning and working on myself.
great name and profile picture 😂
Name the platform from Toyota that the LC500 was built from…?
@storyofmylife7080 Toyota owns Lexus. which is a good thing.
@GoofyahhNissanYou didn’t answer my question. Volkswagen owns Porsche but the 911 isn’t a Volkswagen
@storyofmylife7080 its the GA-L platform. Just pull up its Wikipedia page if you want more details.
Where are you guys?? No videos for a bit???
8:55 goes hard
I really wish people would stop making lc500 videos, it's not helping the depreciation curve...
My 2019 with every option available, thanks them 😂
@Canaz73 So does my 2021 with every option 😁
I've been looking for the old one, damn the prices 😮
Real G
@marcusjaccoupe or vert?
So relieved to see the head bang clip made it in the new intro
"Closing time, ugly lights, everyone is inspected...
But you've got a natural beauty unaffected!" (Prince was really singing about the 911).
can someone tell me what is the color of that Porsche called?
Love to see you using cars and bids.
I’d LOVE to see a collab with Doug. My two favorite car channels.
LC500 design is so good it still looks modern without having a single design change since 2018
The LC 500 is my preferred choice. It still stands out in a crowd of 911’s here in Southern Palm Beach
1:12 I repeated that downshift so many times over
Saw a LC500 yesterday at a gas station in the exact same color in this video. Looks incredible
these are one of the comparisons where you can’t choose one or the other, but rather want both
I think both brands know their customers for both of these cars and are doing exactly what they each want. They both have an ideal customer for sure.
The LC500 is such a gem, a banging naturally aspirated V8 with the reliability we have come to expect from Toyota/Lexus.
Serious, that V8 is bullet proof, and unlike the Porsche, the electronics rarely give you trouble. If i had the dough, it would be the Lexus for me.
You clearly don’t have a clue…….
I’m going out on a limb here ( not REALLY ) and suggest the author above only touches a 911 when he’s drying one off !!!
I love the LC500, but knocking Porsche’s reliability isn’t the way to go. They are easily the most reliable high-end sports car out there
@SignalCorps1I had a 2005 Boxster S from 120,000 miles, replaced it with a 2016 Spyder. Tell me my Spyder isn’t the most beautiful car on the road. Boxsters were very reliable ❤🎉
@SignalCorps1 They are good but not that good, they are mid tier also really expensive
Yea because the electronics are way outdated. Does it even have CarPlay
21:28 Putting in some practice for the new job I see.
Any detail or update on the Lexus 2026 LS 500? ( This vid only covered smaller high performance etc vehicles )
3:52 look at James' head lmao
That center console monitor on the Lexus looks like my first TV I bought when I started medical school in 1989.
My two favorite car manufacturers. I think if you push the 911 on a windy road or on the track it will release your emotions. But as a 63 year old man (and I'm not a dentist) that has owned a 911, 951 and an SC 430, in the past, I think I would take the LC500 hands down! Thanks for the video guys!!!
So far all I’m seeing is comments from old geezers that own the LC500 🤣. Makes sense. Lexus is the wannabe sports car brand that old geezers buy…
@mmmmm4815 and what's wrong with that? Maybe it's because we have the money to buy them. What are you driving, a Honda Civic with a $500 muffler? Lol.
@mmmmm4815you’re clueless. I’ve owned many Porsches. the boxster (981), cayman and the GT3 are the only ones that are actually exciting to drive.
@mmmmm4815 You literally have a playlist on how to become a Doordasher on your profile
Current SC430 owner, bought one as a project car, loved it so much that i sought a pebble beach edition to keep for as long as i can
Every time you review a lexus lc500 i just go to bed and cry
It's summer so why doesn't the trees have any foliage?
the LC doesn't show that well in photos or video, but in person, boy do they look amazing. They're also way more rare than a 911. Everytime I see one, I catch myself admiring it.
God the Lexus interior is amazing.
The LC500 is a gorgeous car, it’s so good to look at from literally any angle and sounds phenomenal! I hope to bring one home soon enough.
This video was contrived just so Thomas coild drive around for two days in an LC500.
Why does the guy in the mustang look like Thomas from throttle house?
The best spec for an LC500 is Nori Green Pearl with the tan interior. Green and tan simply go hand and hand. When I think of a grand tourer, my mind immediately goes to the LC500. I'm in my 20s, and I would go for the LC500 any day. xD
i bought the 2025 cayman gts 4.0 instead of lc500
@danielz6436 Coolio?
Agreed but that spec is hard to find. I "settled" for my ultra white with tan interior, but the upside is the paint is much easier to maintain :)
Exactly how I specced mine, also with the dynamic handling package. Guarantee that on back roads as bumpy as the ones I often frequent, it’s a lot more pleasant to hustle than a 911. The Carrera might get you there a few seconds sooner, but I’m not sure you’d be any happier… I’ve owned a 911 before, as well as Lotus and fast BMWs - I don’t claim the LC is the best car ever, certainly not the fastest, but some cars just have a little bit of extra magic, which you cannot find on any spec sheet. This is one of those.
P.S. not a retired dentist…
Best interior out of any car i feel
As a young whippersnapper that enjoys hip hop music, I love the LC 500.
9:58 "i have confidence in taking a sip of coffe and know im going to take a sh*t at exactly the sametime every single morning"
Absolutely poetry 👌 ✨️
best sketch ever, lets have that every episode
The LC limiter sounds like a 1.9pd popcorn limiter
Usually, when you chose the rare and interesting car over the obvious choices there’s massive trade offs ( my first car was an Alfa Brera) but this is a Lexus. It’s literally the best of all worlds
That's the case in every market. Cars, especially older ones, are no different - here I guess we're talking availability of parts and shops able to work on them. But would you mind speaking more of your Brera, what's happened there? I love its look.
@deanfaithy1v1it died 😂, and I crashed it. It was my first car but I do plan on buying another. The Pro Drive one though or 3.2. It was great,
The Brera has to be the best looking hatchback of all time, first came across it in need for speed carbon
It's trade off is that its an old Alfa😭
8:42 perfect comparison! the Porsche has the same -plot armor- recipe as the looney toons…
One of these has the same body shape since 1964 and the other is a smarter long-term purchase with way more affordable maintenance.
thanks guys great video you really had me on the TV volume increments havetoonly be even lol
love the cooperation with cars&bids
You'll never see this beautiful of an interior from Lexus cars ever again
Incredible timing
i know the 911 will be the better car overall, but the noise of the NA V8 of the lc500 is so GOOOOOOOOOD.
Better in many ways yes, but overall, i dont think so
As an engineer, engine noise is just wasted energy in the form of sound rather than HP. That’s why the German don’t give 2Fs about the sound
The coffee quip was funny...very funny
James doing a suspension test was cracking me up.
There are so many great options in this category but I love my 2019 Inspiration Series! It’s a forever type car
[23:05] Is international shipping free? If so, I'll throw my hat in the ring.
3:45 this sequence was terrific.
The suspension demonstration absolutely cracked me up
Any grand tour news?
The 911 is a sports car. The Lexus is a GT. I am old, I would take the Lexus...
Honestly they are both really close but I would take the lc500
They are not close, those are totally different !
Having driven a 911 (though not a 992) and a couple of LC 500s... they are very, very different cars. The Porsche feels more like a true sports car - lower and more agile. However, the LC also handles pretty well given it weighs over 4,000 pounds, and it sounds even better in person. It also has an exquisite interior. The 911 has a ... nice interior, but nothing super luxurious like the LC. I don't know what I'd go for. Probably the LC, since my bank account isn't setup for Porsche maintenance if I am being honest.
Bottom line- you want comfort and design beauty- LC 500.
Performance- 911.
100% the LC is nearly a perfect car but it weighs nearly 4500lbs...you dont feel the power of the car AT ALL. Factory tune is terrible and its gearing is down right BAD. I loved my ownership of an LC. I use to tell my friends "you could sip your tea while flooring this car."
Bottom line -
You want comfort - LC 500.
Performance and design beauty - 911. There, I fixed it for you.
@JakeSoulFreeTravelsif you want to blend in with the multitude of boring squashed beetles maybe
As time goes on the more I like the LC500. It’s feeling like a future classic. There are so many 911’s on the road and anytime I see a LC500 it immediately catches my eye. Clear winner
Yes in my opinion the Porsche will impress more enthusiasts but the LC500 will turn more heads and strike more curiosity from more people overall.
In the future it will probably be pretty special. It’s like Lexus made an Aston Martin. But with none of the detractions. Especially as a long term ownership candidate.
will never be. Even a Velar sva autobiography has more chances, lol.
There are probably a dozen LC500s in my neighborhood, all used as daily drivers. These folks are mostly Kodak and Xerox retirees collecting a big fat pension. It's the perfect car for a narrow population of people who ruined once legendary companies due to their smugness and apathy. It's pretty much the same attitude I got from the salespeople at Lexus when I looked at the RC350.
Only ever spotted 1 LC in my life so far, yet here in Belgium it's full of German sportscars and especially Porsche's.
The Lexus truly is a sight to behold, yet the 911 does nothing.
I heard that definition of confidence while taking my morning coffee. Cannot dispute it
What I would do if I had all the money in the world it's got a Cayenne GTS and an LC 500 but I don't really know if it's coupe or convertible
LC 500 is such a great looking car.
15:57 made me check who posted this video lol
I thought I was the only one who heard that🤣🤣
I would go for the lc500 anytime, anyday. Amazing car!
Not being quick is what makes it brilliant
Love it when he said "it's slower cause it's fat" HAHA
I'm falling in love with the LC500 more and more with every video you feature it in. When you just think, it's hit the ceiling... bang, another dose.
@6:52 WHAT IS THAT TIRE PRESSURE???????
Got them backwards
I was gonna say lol
Nah, I feel It's for more front grip
Holy hell, that’s 20psi over spec and may be exceeding the max pressure rating of the rear tires.
@bellluna9017rear engined car so higher pressures in back
You guys absolutely adore the LC500, as you should. It is a stunningly beautiful car.
i have key turn knob on my LS 430, i like it more then just push start on my van
Do yall have a custom like animation?
Imo, i would take the LC any day but for one simple reason, yes the 911 is faster in any single way, its also more flashy and all and when going 10 10s punches above its class. But i want to have fun while driving, i want to hear a NA V8 roaring while doing some nice secondary roads, also being so comfy that I wouldn’t even mind having to cross Europe to go and visit some friends here and there knowing that the reliability wont leave me stranded anywhere, its a Lexus.
911s are so common. When I see an LC500, my head turns. When I see a 911, I see an owner standing next to it wanting to tell everyone about it.
I feel like the LC500 doesn't actually look that good tbh. But it sure is rare
You're obviosly in the wrong area then.
There is a reason 911 owners are like that……they CAN’T HELP sharing the glory….!!!
You’ve never really driven a car, until you driven a Porsche !
@Grasshopper0122 Wait till you drive a 550 Spyder...them's is crazy.
@JakeSoulFreeTravelsI’d love to……but with only 90 ever produced, it probably ain’t gonna be tomorrow !!!? 😮 😂😂😂
I hope the higher-ups at Lexus are watching this. Now that LFA is no more, y'all better keep that LC500 going and make sure you give it all the love it deserves! KEEP THE V8 ALIVE!!!
i want one of em lc500s
This is a comparison only I wanted to see. I’m glad to see I was wrong! Thank you guys 🙌
To be fair, the LC500 is the gentleman's grand tourer, and the 911 is the gentleman's racer that still works on the street. Me personally, had I not a grown family, the LC500 would be my choice, too. Comfortable, looks fantastic in person and rolling around, and the engine is such a proven jewel. For those with kids, the IC500 it is (formerly the IS-F).
Add: Ironic point of contention, thunder and lightning are the same event, but only change in reference to your proximity to said event. 😉
Statement is a thing as well, one owns a Lexus, other owns a Porsche, but of course there’s a price to pay for that name aswell
LC500 rear seat isn't bad. I can fit a rear facing car seat behind me (6 ft).
LC has thunderous growl and 911 is lightening fast
@peterhuynh6640 I can't think of a good reason not to like this analogy. Touche, good sir!
The Lexus LC500 is here to look, feel, and sound better than anything else, anywhere near its price
The rest of you can fight for the scraps that's left.
The Porsche 911 is the sports car you'll never regret
The Lexus LC500 is the luxury coupe you'll never forget
Well said brother.
OMG, stop with all the positive reviews of the LC500! The prices for an off-lease LC500 will never drop far enough for me to pick one up in 3 years!
1:03 the synchronized actions to music so good
You guys are a great team and I really enjoy watching you both debate each other in a sarcastic yet friendly way!
Never been this early before wow
Same here
Right
I 3rd that 22 min is quick😭🔥
I'll never understand why people find the need to say this. Who cares man.
@zartic4life just to document it! I opened youtube and this was posted 32 seconds ago which is highly unusual
