Mafumafu isn't part of a band! If you were watching a "After the Rain" video it would be a band!
Mafumafu is an independent Utaitte! Utaitte roughly translates to "tried to sing" which Japanese cover singers use as a polite way of saying "I tried to sing ao don't see me as better then the original," I think lol
I've been a big Mafu fan since his cover days and it makes me really happy that people are reacting to sone If his original works xD
Also, about him being an Utaitte, some people could also say im wrong on that, since Mafumafu makes original stuff now as well, "Reincarnation" is one of his more popular examples. Some people also call him a Vocaloid because he sometimes posts Vocaloid songs. But it is true that Mafumafu is a sole singer that IS in the band.
He is in the band called "After the Rain" with another singer called Soraru. When Mafumafu posts something that is band-related on his channel, he always adds the "After the Rain" in the title. For example "Anti-clockwise"
@@kiwithevtuber I think he is still under a title of being an utaite. An utaite is originally a person who posts songs in a Japanese platform called Nico Nico Douga. Most of them only covers vocaloid songs, but there're also plenty that produce or compose their original songs like Mafu, Soraru, and Eve do~
And just to correct you a teeny little bit, utaite doesn't mean "tried to sing", I think what you meant is 'utattemita' or 歌ってみた they put in the back of every cover songs' titles 😂😂😂

yeah, regardless of what mafumafu's identity is, the song itself is at least clearly written to be the perspective of a trans girl. and as such is such a powerful trans anthem. i love this song to death. We stan mafumafu
Well, I’d like to interpret it as being much more open-ended than just that, especially taking into consideration the fact that the singer has dealt with major insecurities regarding his voice in their childhood. It is, however, certainly a song that reflects on gender roles and eludes to themes of toxic masculinity,. Personally I think it has nothing to do with transgender-ness or any kind of dysphoria at all, but if it’s what makes you feel happy and acknowledged, then there’s nothing wrong with thinking about the song that way

My interpretation of this song is different from other people’s. Although it could very much be about trans people, I think differently. I think that this song is more personal to Mafumafu. I believe that he’s singing about if he was a girl, it’d be so much easier for him. I think this because when he was singing as a boy, he was talking about his high-pitched voice. In the past, he was often bullied because of this, people thought it was too girly, or something like that. Therefore, I think the song’s undertone is about how if he were born a girl, with his high-pitched voice, he wouldn’t have gotten those criticisms. However, this is just my interpretation! I know that this could very easily be interpreted as being trans, as it is about a guy wanting to be a girl. I’m just looking a little deeper.

Also appreciate you using the pronoun "they/them" to address Mafumafu, not sure but I guess he goes by "he/him" pronouns
I'm pretty sure Mafumafu uses "he/him" pronouns since he addresses himself with 僕 ("boku") and occasionally 俺 ("ore") which are both masculine terms. (Although compared to Eng, Japanese doesn't have this absolute fine line between he/she/they, sometimes you might find females who use "boku" as well, but likely never "ore" since that's considered quite a masculine term.)
This song does tend to confuse a lot of ppl but in the verse where he used his 'boy voice', the lyrics translates to:
"With this weird voice of mine,
never deepening in adulthood
And no matter what I do, what I try
Nothing seems to work out today"
It can be interpreted differently, but knowing that Mafumafu had experienced bullying in school before due to his high pitched voice, I interpret this song as him wanting to be in a body that better suits his voice that won't deepen, rather than actually wanting to be a girl (if that makes sense).
Fun fact: Mafumafu went for a throat checkup at a hospital once, and the doctor actually confirmed he has vocal chords similar to a female's. (He mentioned this during one of his livestreams)

Mafumafu is a guy and still sees himself as a guy (I watch his live streams often lol)
I've been his fan since his Last Ones Weeping cover and he's my favorite Utaitte (that translates to "tried to sing" and mafu is basically that as he is a singer that those covers). So I would REALLY love it if you reacted to Miyashita Yuu. You seem to vibe with Mafumafu and his feminine singing voice so I thoguht, why not recommend the guy that can go both super deep and super high in just one song.

Please react to Mafumafu's Umareta Imi Nado Nakatta (There is no meaning to being born). It's a very serious song, absolutely different from this one, but it also shows the type of songs he can write and the complexity of his music. He's more so known for his serious, and sometimes dark lyrics, so I'd recommend the one above, and also Hitomodoki (pseudo-human) :)

There's like two type of mafumafu's original songs one is like relatable and it hurts while the other are up beat. One of the few reasons I love mafumafu lol if you havent reacted to a utaite unit called strawberry prince i recommend you should! The songs they sing are so upbeat and happy!
