WALLBERG | Rottach-Egern | A Day Trip from MUNICH

Wallberg (1722 m) is a famous mountain situated in the Bavarian state, near Munich, Germany. This mountain is a nature's heaven as it is surrounded by spectacular views of Bavarian Alps, alpine pastures and the lake Tegernsee. It is also considered as the Bavaria's Sunshine mountain and offers aerial manoeuvres for the Para-gliders and Hang-gliders!
In order to reach the summit, we took the cable car from the village of Rottach-Egern (base station at 790 m). The cable car whisked us off to 1620 m in just 10 minutes. We hiked for about 30 minutes on a scenic route to reach the summit Wallberg Gipfel (1722 m).
Instead of taking the cable car back to the ground station, we did the 2 hour Sommerweg route hike, where we had to descend approx. 800 m on a well marked path!
Travel Costs
Bavarian ticket : 26 euros (additional 8 euro per person upto 5 people)
Cable car ticket (ascent only): 14 euros/person
Reaching Wallberg Cable Car Station from Munich
Public transport - Take the regional train BRB-RB 57 from Munich Hbf to Tegernsee Hbf. Change here for the bus 9556 to Wallbergbahn bus stop.
Car - Drive to the Wallbergbahn parking takes about an hour from Munich.
