What a fucking revelation. I just tried this on my setup and instantly dit it, it's like you've unlocked a part of street fighter for me that I couldn't reach before. Thank you Brian, owe you big.
Another shortcut that I like is to do 323P ( ↘⬇↘P). You basically hold down crouch, and then tap forward twice and punch. The reason I like this is that you stay stationary and crouching at the same time. If you were already crouching (let's say blocking a low attack), your finger is already holding on the down direction, it takes work to lift that finger to do the shortcut you mentioned. In that case, I would just do this shortcut instead and rapidly tap forward twice + punch to get the DP. You can also use this shortcut to buffer DP without looking like you are breakdancing (you know how when someone is buffering a super they also look really jittery and gives a tell), since you just look like you are crouching when you are basically going 23232323…
I did it in sfv because the socd was different where you could hold down back the whole time (back + forward = forward in that game) which essentially made it 2 input dp which is insanely fast.
@@khanhhuynh5451No, for supers you need to input 2 and 6 explicitly. Diagonals (3) are optional but not substitute for for the 2 and 6's. It does mean the DP shortcuts have the benefit of not going to accidentally trigger supers.
this actually worked in SFV as well without the SOCD on up and down, 639p actually worked as a dp shortcut, they took that shortcut out for SF6, but then by requiring the new SOCD rules effectively added it back in
Great video! The way I got used to DPs in SF is to just "plink" your index finger after the down. I think of it more as a "tap tap" instead of a "motion" and as a separate input = 5, 25. Another way you can also do it is 5,(2),3, if that makes sense. Another one I'm unsure if you talked about is (2)66. That one's great for stationary for me. I never use the "holding" method you mentioned due to a delay needed. Each rhythm has different speeds for everyone, but you get used to all of them eventually. A few hours of practicing each and the scenarios they're good in, helped me a ton.
Since I play multiple games (not just street fighter), I use the f > f+d+b > f+d shortcut on leverless. Just feels like forward > hcf and it is much less strenuous on my middle finger.
Jumps are my biggest weakness using Ed as well. I've mostly got a hang of the LP version, now I need to keep in mind to do HP version when they start back jumping in the corner.
I like to use the dp shorcut from crouch to stop neutral jump oki. From down back, release back while holding down and double tap forward. Press punch/kick (Cammy) on the second tap. Hopefully this is helpful for some.
thats an interesting shortcut; ive always done forward and hold forward while pressing down + back and releasing back but not relying on releasing a button to get an input seems way better
Great, on ps5 on accessibility, swap sticks, then for the aa just do the f, df motion, then flick the right stick up and press the kick or punch to perform the aa
Also, for those learning how to use a Hitbox, if you hold down and press forward, forward with the corresponding punch/kick button it will also give you DP 👍
Have you tried the 323 shortcut at all? Basically holding down + fwd, flicking back and then punch? I personally like it a lot as you can DP out of crouch, giving a bit more leeway as an antiair.
I used to play bow back when we were both in diamond and early master! I don’t play as much since SF6 isn’t my main main game currently but good to see he’s still as insane as ever
Nice, I'll try the practise thing for sure since I didn't know a good way to practise this. I use a WASD block (Find the hitbox style jump on the bottom doesn't mesh well with my brain) so the SF6 SOCD trick won't really work for me but it's fine, I'm not a high level player anyway so it's less critical.
I feel like Ive been doing my DP’s backwards on hitbox after seeing this. I’ve been holding down and double tapping forward esp for reacting to jump ins. Gonna try out the new trick for sure.
The 629 input doesn't even need SF6's SCOD, it's a valid DP input even on stick for 6. [2]66 is also a valid DP if you're crouching, like 323 would be on stick.
I don't know if this works for the hitbox, but Im a keyboard player and one of the DP shortcuts I use is keeping the down button pressed and double tapping forward, then punch. It should be easier than going through the updown motion i think.
Kinda sad no one in the chat explained it beforehand. The supposedly best way to DP is not to input 636 but 323 because in crouch you shrink your hurtbox. How I to do it on leverless is also very simple, you hold forward+down and just tap back and release, then press the P button.
I gotta switch up my controller game too specifically for the same reason. Having to nap buttons to specific training mode only options or not having them at all is so annoying lol
fierce punch and although unsafe, a lot of people who use gief top tier like kobayan and snake eyes tend to not use Lariat/ OD Lariat tho it goes through snatcher and can punish probably due to high risk / little-mid reward. but also Level 2 goes through snatcher as well and if they don’t cancel their dash in they get punished. matchup is prob 65/35 gief favor
I've been hesitant to rely on SOCD dp just because it doesn't carry over to other games. But I guess if I were a competitive player focused primarily on SF6, it would make sense. Can't argue with 3 frame dp input or 4 frame double qcf input.
Leverless is a game specific device through and through. You do the optimal input for the game you're playing, but the current SOCD ruleset is also baked into the controller. It's universal in that sense, but it's up to the game interpreter what shortcuts they allow and therefore what you can do with the controller.
Wow, you've been using leverless without this?!! I feel bad for you! Glad you found it at last! :) I find it good for hadoken motions too. (The day capcom banned U+D=U was the most blessed day for me, as a leverless player!) I do some similar 'funny' trick for supers. Namely to guarantee medium punch -> super links.
@chupasaurus Both have their pros and cons, as do different control methods. Let's face it, whatever capcom try to enforce, hardware manufacturers or hobbyists will get what they want at the hardware level. I think this is why Capcom are trying to promote modern controls, going forward! That said, having played on a hitbox, it's not the easy ride that people make out. Neither is modern, come to think of it - I've tried modern, and can't do it! My brother manages it pretty well, though he's always been better at adapting to these games than me.
The only downside of that dp shortcut is when you have to start from a crouching position. In that case, at least for me, it's better just keep holding down and double tap forward.
I don't know why, but this method just doesn't click with me. I keep fucking up the DP. Maybe it's because I've been using 636 for too long? I just keep jumping around.
I love this chapter cause I totally hated the 5th. The only thing that is driving me crazy is how online players are beating me on air to air 90% of the times. I don't understand how this can happens, If I jump first, they jump after but they beat my attack, if I jump later and they jump first they beat my attack anyway. I almost have the feeling that in SF6 99% of online players just jump+button. How is that possible that they get the right guessing every single time I jump in their proximity? I don't even see pro players in tournament having this accouracy.... any tips?
If you can you could build your own. My brother did it for $150 AUD. it's the same as $300 aud ones and looks sick. You'd need access to a laser cutter though for it to look aesthetic as fk
Surprised you don't use down-forward, down, down-forward to DP as you only have to use your index finger and get a couching DP so you don't get hit in the standing frame.
