Fantasia has the most beautiful, most amazing ending scene with the most beautiful music my eyes & ears have ever witnessed and I seriously believe I'll never find or witness any scene and music put together that is more beautiful in this lifetime.

you probably dont care but if you are bored like me during the covid times you can watch all of the new movies and series on Instaflixxer. I've been streaming with my brother for the last few months xD
@Westin Trace Yea, have been watching on Instaflixxer for since december myself =)
Also it makes your heart melts, it's calming, depressing and peaceful at the same time
The original animation had an ethereal feel to it
Because more work was put into it👁️👄👁️
it was created by the most talented assemblage of animators in history
To my knowledge, Fantasia was the first ever Disney movie that my Mum and Dad bought me when I was very very little and so it has always had a special place in my childhood. Years later, I was watching this movie again and my Dad insisted I watch this entire segment and stay quiet throughout, hahaha, because it clearly meant something to him on a deeper level as well and I guess he just wanted me to see for myself how beautiful this part was and what hope it could offer for humanity. I'm very glad he did. ✨✨✨

This has always been my favorite version of this song. And Disney did a phenomenal job with the music and the multiplane and the art. One of my favorite scenes in any movie.
You took away the beauty of the fog creating dreamlike vision. The subtle shades are gone. The clarity erases the magic of the scene. Young generations are missing so much when it comes to art.

Do you know what it means though? "the slowest of movements" what specifically? It looks very natural now days so I'm having a hard time understanding the meaning of the words.
Klaus Werner Voß it was certainly a masterpiece in its own right.
The difficulty is the slow movement in the drawing film. The slower the more accurate it must be drawn.
Thank you Klaus for the posting and for your comments.

I agree.
This is exquisite. When I was a child in the 1950's, my parents took me to see Fantasia and I LOVED it. To this day, the combination of Night on Bald Mountain segueing into Ave Maria brings back the wonderful memories of a simpler time - when Halloween was harmless, playful, and scary fun and the elegant Ave Maria was so beautiful and uplifting that we sang it regularly in Church. I loved it then and I love it now. All the music is tremendous and I remember laughing myself almost sick at the silly crocodiles and hippos ballet. Fantasia was a misunderstood masterpiece when it was first issued but it's beauty and genius have lasted the test of time.
So true 😮
Fantasia is heads and shoulders the singular greatest animated film of all time! There is just no competition. No comparison to be made. I watched this masterpiece 5 years ago nearly. I believe there is no animated film better. This restoration is so beautiful and vibrant. Ave Maria is perhaps the most tearjerkingly beautiful ending ever put to film. There have been contenders, but none have surpassed the ending of this masterpiece. A magnificent achievement and one that will forever stand the test of time through countless generations to come...

Klaus......AMAZING job on recreating the animation. I've always been in love with this rendition of Ave Maria. I sorely wish that they would re-record it exactly the same way on modern equipment. Thank you thank you thank you for taking the time to honor this piece, you did an utterly fantastic job!

They did do a digital rerecording of the film's soundtrack for the 1982 and 1985 theatrical releases of Fantasia, with Irwin Kostal composing. However, in all future editions from 1990 onwards, they went back to the original 1940 soundtrack.
Here's the Ave Maria track redone for the 1982 rerelease by Irwin Kostal:

Thank you so much, for an excellent work of art and a labor of love, Klaus Werner Voss.
I've just finished the whole Fantasia movie and the last scene left me in tears, not sad but joyful, knowing that love will always transform darkness and reveal the light that is hidden by it, covered up for a long time but not forever. Life doesn't allow it and love makes it so.
This makes me cry a lot 😭😭😭😭.
This is absolutely incredible. The colors are amazing and the artwork is beautiful. Very nice work!
Nice modern animation of this Ave Maria segment along with the music.
What I love about this film is that there are no end credits after this segment, the movie ends as soon as the music stops....
Beautiful restoration to one of my absolute favorite pieces in the film.. I can't get through it without getting emotional.

Love how despite no church the flora was made to appear as stained glass windows in the classic architecture of a classic church.

In the original, as the figures walk through the trees, they are walking in pairs. In this version they are always walking in single file. I think this misses something very special and important about the actions and meaning of the procession. I will be in the minority but cleaning up this footage has taken away some of the 'magic' of the old, almost mystical quality of the orignal. But hey, that's just me.

@@danielhetue6968There were 2 other verses that were not used in the movie, The words are on Wikipedia
This rendition of Ave Maria always makes me start sobbing uncontrollably because of how deeply the scenery and sound implant themselves within the core of personhood.
The maladies of the ill spirits dissipate from the slow candlelit march of the congregants. A praise of the mother of Earth’s ‘Prince of Peace’ is melodically chanted in the meadows and gullies of the forest. Light’s resurrection is approaching, but I can’t help but feel such a profound sense of despair, despite the immaculate sounds of the antiphonal praise of Mary.
Humankind and beast are, and will continue to be, confronted by blight, pain, lacking, desolation, and death. These experiences happen simultaneously with the divine beauty of the hymn; the exaltation of peace on a planet that will never experience such a thing so long as it exists.
This paradox of beauty juxtaposed with the hideousness of suffering is so intricately conveyed by this piece. That, coupled with my own specific struggles, leaves me with no other choice than to cry; not just for myself, but for the state of the cursed Earth we live upon. Maybe the tears we cry, whether they originate from joy or sadness, are the truest embodiment of peace itself.
Drep Weedreg to quote Tolkien on those tears, they “are the very wine of blessedness”. This piece haunts & heals. Thank you for your words.

God is calling you through His mother
Very, very well said. Your words ring so true. I too shed tears at this segment because of the mark it leaves on me. There are not even any end credits. The movie just ends in ear-piercing silence, and it doesn't take long for my already overdriven mind to finally break down, and me with it. I have suffered too many times to count, to the point where I have been reduced to a shell of my former self. I am miserable, bitter at humanity and life itself. Yet, I still soldier on, and through the pain and drudgery it is things like Ave Maria that reminds me of the good that still lives on in this world.
Night on Bald Mountain felt very familiar to me, fantasy aside. Horror and terror that I have grown numb to thanks to past experiences of similar sights and sounds. I have learned to feel undisturbed by it. Even to embrace it. But that is what makes Ave Maria so powerful and emotional. True peace is such a foreign concept in this mortal life that I can only sob uncontrollably, as you do, in longing for it. We will never know true peace until death, and Ave Maria can only give us an interpretation of what that might be like. A slow, peaceful candlelit procession from the dark into the light? My pragmatic mind doubts it very much.
But that, of course, is not the core message of this segment. As you said yourself, Humankind and beast alike will experience blight, pain, desolation and death. But there is always hope, for hope springs eternal. Therefore we must not give up. We must never give up. We must carry on, for darkness will always, always give way to the light. In conclusion, I might also add that Ave Maria is so memorable as it stands out from the rest of Fantasia, which generally goes from the strange, to the startling, to the weird, to the wonderful, to the entrancing, to the terrifying, and in the case of the Dance of the Hours, the downright zany.
The Lord is calling to you through his Mother. Mary loves you and wants to be your mother.
Fantasia is the best movie ever made. It's too cosmic -- and at the end the Elect, and the audience, enter heaven.
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with Thee, blessed are Thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of Thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Behold the Blessed Virgin Mary in the Miraculous Rosary....
I think this sequence, along with Night on Bald Mountain, is meant to be symbolism of hope during WW2.
Chernabog is supposed to represent the dark past. But he is overcome by a stronger power, which is hope.
The people with the lights are walking to the future, and the sunrise at the end is symbolic for peace.
It was a perfect way to end Fantasia in my opinion.
Walt Disney once said “Fantasia is timeless” and no truer words were ever spoken.
You can give people hope, or you can feed them propaganda where Donald Duck is a Nazi. Whichever you prefer.
I have always been moved by this segment of the film, from the evil that rises with the arrival of nightfall, to this beautiful melody whcih signals the dawn of a new day and the peace and tranquility that comes forth as Mother God comforts us when our need for her is greatest.

Who is the Disney artist? I would love to buy his artwork.
www.kwvp.de
Unless this artist lives forever, THE STUDIO, the movie Fantasia dates from 1940 lol You've got to do your very best to equal that quality. I'm sure there's an explanation somewhere about how Fantasia is made, I remember having seen a documentary years ago. Was it with Walt Disney himself as narrator? Could be. What I remember is, that all the work is done with pencil, pen and ink, paint and brush, scissors and a lot of patience. A true labor of love. Fantasia is my favorite movie!
I am truly sorry to report that I once had a copy of the issue of a rather large volume, the title of which eludes me, but I'm sure it may be easily found through an online search or bibliographical search under the subject of Fantasia; I lost my copy in a home fire which destroyed a lifetime of goods - most irreplaceable as unique and intrinsic to parts f my life. As to the book to which I refer, it was full of original artwork contributed by all the Disney artists who were promised that this would be their artistic reward, a true legacy honoring all their hard work on previous Disney full length animation feature films and so much more. I don't think there ever was assembled such a veritable entourage of so much talent under one rooof, before or since, as were the artists in Disney Studios; and ,they were encouraged to pour all their creativity into the making of the film, and were assured complete artistic freedom, and brother, they let it all hang out. One glimpse into the true artistry revealed in this book will set you on your ear. They had such beautiful and magnificent visions, and the book is full of original drawings which they were so inspired to create, in visions that far exceeded the final film which became a diluted, censored, Disney-fied for mass appeal venture and really betrayed the artists' trust, vision and inspiration. Don't get me wrong, in the regard that I was gifted as a child to feast my imagination n the Fantasia which was released in 1940. I cannot imagine my life without having had the experience; and, I recall in 1969 when Fantasia was rereleased in a fully restored and stereophonically enhanced theatre release to audiences who had never seen this classic cinematographic wonder from 1940 on the big screen, how amazed were they, rather all of us who din't just view it once or twic, but again and again. We were lucky in that the Janus Theaters kept it running for months, and we drove the half hour to see it, to experience it, as often as we liked, and it never ceased to please, rather, it was an experience of beauty and nuance every time we took it in. You know, it wasn't long after that, in the 1970s when I first picked up a copy of that book on the making of Fantasia. I know you'll agree, once you read that and see all the artwork that far outstripped the ultimately "sanitized" for mass appeal version which is still probably the cinematorgaphic piece de la resistance of animated filmography, ever, that you'll also understand how much greater it might have been.
I KNEW there was a 4K version of Very Merry Christmas Songs!
