The price of, what was it, almost eight dollars?, feels disproportionately high though… because these Kaffeekekse are usually the cheapest stuff you can get… you would serve them to guests that expect SOMETHING to go with their afternoon coffee, but nothing fancy, I think…

Hey Ladies 🙂THX for showing us such a nice Grocery Store! Looks like a Thema Park! It comes as no surprise that German foods in the UK cost less than in the US, due to the distance travelled. Some of the things in the German section remind me of my military service in Germany.

The selection in this shop is really good - almost a complete german supermarket with a lot of good brands (Landliebe, Darbo, Rothaus, ...), but the pricetags are hefty - I'd say about 2-3 times more expensive than in a supermarket in germany. But on the other hand German groceries are fairly cheap in germany compared to other countries, and importing it half way around the globe does not make things cheaper. If you have not tried Rothaus Bier ("Tannenzäpfle", meaning "little pinecone") try it, it's really good beer from the black forrest region. It was a very trendy brand in southern Germany for years, but it faded a bit. Good beer still, though.
I'm from England, but I have lived and worked in Munich for some long assignments. I can agree with the German commenters. I loved the traditional Bavarian foods and beer.
My husband loved the heavy German breads, but there wasn't any place around our small town to buy them, Milwaukee would have been the closest and that is about 50 miles away. Yay for the Wisconsin cheese! Enjoyed the show.
Hi Natasha and Debbie, thank you for making this video. I'm from the Netherlands and I live only 5 km away from the German border. Since German shops are a little cheaper compared to our Dutch grocery stores we often go accross the border to do our shopping. That's why I was horrified when you started showing the price tags at Jungle Jim's. Most prices are at least twice what we would pay for those items here and a lot of what you showed went up over 4 or 5 times what we would pay here. For instance the sausages for 12,99 would cost 3,49 here. I have made the bee sting cake myself not long ago and it is a very easy recipy to make. It is basically two layers of cake with a layer of cream in between topped by almond shavings which have been covered in Honey. Keep making these great videos and perhaps visit some Dutch topics in the future haha.
Yes, most prices are 2x of the German store, like Milka chocolate 100g costing $2 and below 1€ on regular sales. The big cookies mix bag is just 2€ in Germany and sells for $8 over there. Transport costs are really expensive. The sausages looked like a much bigger glas than in Germany, that size might costs 5€ here.
Love your video. Nice to see you both out in your local shops. Love the outside of Jungle Jim's, fun. I live in Hungary and we get a lot of the same foods/snacks thry have in Germany. The haribo liquorice cakes are like pontefract cakes which are originally from the UK, made originally in a town called Pontefract funnily enough 😅. Have you guys tried Aero chocolate, which I spotted on one of the shelves, they are delicious 😋. Look forward to more of your videos ❤x
Dear ladies, the shelves in your supermarket look exactly like ours. Come to Germany at last. The flights from Cincinnati to Frankfurt are not that expensive. But remember, Cincinnati is at the same geographical latitude as Lisbon, where it is unbearably hot in summer (for me). In my hometown of Munich, which is about the same latitude as Seattle, it is much cooler. So if you fly to Germany, come in summer or autumn, June to October if possible. At 14:09: Händlmaier ist the one and only Mustard for "Weißwurst" (= Bavarian White Sausage). At 14:51: At 15:51 Debbie has the typical Bavarian white sausage in her hand. We eat this as a snack in the morning. Heat the white sausage carefully (don't boil it!), add Händlmaier mustard, an Erdinger Weissbier and a pretzel. That's it. At 22:07: Pilsner (Jever, Pilsner Urquell) is too bitter for me personally, but I like Weihenstephaner, Erdinger Weissbier and Paulaner. It is produced a mile away from me. Be careful with Einbecker-Bock because those beers have more alcohol than other beers. It is interesting that all beers are sold in glass bottles. What do you do with the empty bottles? In Germany there is a deposit on every bottle and we return every bottle to the retailer.
*Beer is like music a matter of personal taste & preferences. So for me, the beer must be from Bavaria....no Weißbier, but Augustiner Helles, Augustiner Edelstoff, Isar Bio-Helles, Isar Bio-Radler [ not Isarkindl...].., Riedenburger Brauhaus Dolden Null [ in the Summer is "non-alcoholic" quite pleasant...] ....* 🍺😎
Good morning to everyone from sunny England 🏴 I’m looking forward to this as I relax and eat my breakfast and not a bratwurst sausage in site 🤣 though my family actually love them😀
Thanks for this fun and well made video! 🤩I wouldn't go for the box mixes for pancakes and stuff, just look up a recipe and make it from scratch. German pancakes are not difiicult to make and taste waaaay better that way. Same gos for Kaiserschmarrn and other things... They're mostly poor people's food (back in the day), so they are generally easy to make and only use a couple of ingredients...
No matter where Haribo might 'say' they manufacture them, there is nothing whatsoever German about Pontefract Cakes (or 'Pomfret Cakes' as they were traditionally known.) They originate from Pontefract (near Wakefield,) in West Yorkshire. Liquorice was grown in and around Pontefract in years gone by, (from around the 16th century,) and eventually factories sprung up to process the liquorice, and though no liquorice is still grown on a commercial scale, two factories still remain: one owned by Haribo, and one owned by Valeo Confectionery.
agreed - was a feature of my childood - sitting in school and around mid-morning the smell of the liquorice being boiled up basically permeated the whole town...
excited I hope I can join you! I remember doing Rheinischen Sauerbraten" when I was satyin with firends in Colorado. I was so happy I brought some stuff with me. And I learned what the part of meat is called in english. Well i could not buy horsemeat (which would have ,ade it original) but bovine worls as well. INteretsed in seeing what they have, since I know I can't send food your way
Great video Ladies . I cannot believe that you pay from 200 to 400 % more for your groceries than we do in the UK. Why do you Americans not question the price gauging stores more?
I'm in shock and awe to see these prices. 2.99 for Haribo? They usually cost between 99 cents and 1.79 at it's highest, the meica sausages 14.99 😱. Meica is really expensive in germany but 14.99 is almost 3x the price than here in germany and the tilsit cheese, a pound costs around 7 €, i can't believe that you have to pay 4x the price in the US. I'm doing my groceries at Edeka, which is one of the more expensive ones in germany, but our prices are far lower from what you have to pay in the US.
Thats a really weird supermarket, at the outside of it. And the inside... man those prices are scary! Everything costs at least double of what it costs in Germany, some things even much more. Like the jar of Kühne Sauerkraut for over 6 bucks! Sauerkraut is very cheap here. While Kühne is one of the luxury brands and a bit pricier, you can get a can of Sauerkraut of that size at Aldi's for 1 Euro or so. 98 cent more likely. Also the Bahlsen cookies, those boxes cost about 2 Euros here - and thats also a luxury brand, you can get other brands for much less. Admittedly, Bahlsen cookies are about the best. Tip: if you like Spezi or Mezzo Mix, just buy a big bottle of classic Coke and a bottle of orange lemonade, mix it half and half - and presto, you have Mezzo Mix. For a dollar per litre or so, and just as good. Btw., have you tried the bread they have there? Despite being packaged, some of it is pretty good. The dark ones, like the walnut protein type they had there. It costs about 2.50 here, so be prepared for a shock of $7 or something...
Wow - you have "Einbecker" Beer? Not every Supermarket in Germany offers it - I was born in Einbeck and moved to the Cologne Region later. But still love Einbecker Beer 🥰. The German Bee Sting ist kind of a vanilla-pudding-creme filled cake with sugar roasted almonds on top. Very yummie!!! But I would not recommend to try these packages. Just find a recipe and try yourself - it will be much better 😊. The prices for cheese are really horrific.... Gasping....😨😱
I, accidentally, had one of those cholocate Banana when i was a kid... that taste was absolutely disgusting, to be fair. I couldn't swallow it so was literally running to the garbage and spit it out. While it is "only" my taste (And i saw a British Men eating and spitting it out, too... i think), i would not put my hopes up high 😀 8:45 Can recommend those. I love them. They are good with tea or Coffee and mostly used when there are people visiting, but that is just a recommendation 🙂 I would recommend those in general 😀 PS: Natasha has, MOSTLY, great taste (I HATE Marizpan so hard.... 😀) But "Kinder Happy Hippo", "Soft Cake" or the "Balsen" Cookies with the Filling... a dream.
Super expensive, I really had several wtf-moments. But yeah ... shipping all that stuff to the US probably isn't free, so it makes sense ... sadly... But it's great you have this store! It'd probably be my favourite too. I'd discover all the country sections! 😅
Germany here. Nice selection you got there but the prices are crazy (but i guess that´s because these are exotic imports 😅) ....some of the varieties I´ve never seen in Germany but I can imagine they also produce a lot specifically for the US market and US taste buds ^^ Btw @Natasha ...if you like Marzipan give the Mozart Kugeln a try...those are my personal favourites (the brand `Reber` has the best - but not shure if the maeket has them didn´t see them in the video) ...a flavour tsunami on the tongue 🙃 enjoy .... and when do you guys finally come over to experience it all first hand for yourselves? 🥳
That was great girlies, some of the food I have tried unknowingly 😊 I would love a visit to jungle Jim's sometime in the future as I food shop like I shop for clothing. Well done 👏👏👏👏
Its not cheap but i suppose thats the importation prices,,if i moved from my country to live abroad i would except the foreign food & wouldn't go looking for British food @ extortion prices.my commitment to new country would be enough for me to suppress my appetite although i would miss a decent fish & chips..
I loved walking around the store with you but I didn't know if I was going into a zoo or a shop at the start lol do it again sometime but different shop maybe.
Hi natasha, hi debbie, ❤ I could hardly believe the prices. That's 10 times the price as in Germany. It's almost worth flying over Iceland to Berlin for a weekend just to buy groceries. The madness. Now I only understand why you make such big eyes when you see our prices. Love you, your Marco from the beautyful City Berlin 🤗😘🇩🇪🇺🇸
These prices are crazy! I mean, that imported products are more expensive is to be expected, but a lot of these prices are extremely expensive. Especially since those German prices contain VAT (I think for sweets it would be 19%, but I'm not sure) and the American prices are tax free. A pack of Haribo that looks like 175 - 200 g for 2,99? In Germany, this would be 1,19 or 1,29 EUR since the prices have gone up again lately. The Bahlsen biscuits are almost half the price here.
As A German I got a little shock, seeing the prices: Speci, Mezzo Mix - less than a Euro (approx 79ct per can) but mostly sold as 1.25liter Bottles for less than 1.5€. Haribo are now expensive (175g - about 1€) was way cheaper before the pandemic (360g - for about 1,19€) - Ok I life next to the Haribo Headquarter and can buy at their Factory Outlet 6KG for 15€ 🙂
@@anashiedler6926 Haribo produces in the US for the North American market. Hershey (Reeses, M&Ms etc.) produces in UAE for the European Market. A 400g (14,1 oz) bag of peanut M&Ms is 3,99 € in Germany and 10,05 oz (285 g) bag on the US-M&Ms-website is 5,99 $... So even typical US-products are way cheaper in Germany. Two Reeses cups are 0,99 € in Germany, a package of 4 Reeses Cups are 1,99 $ on the Hershey's US-website. So it's nearly the same price per piece in Germany and the US.
@@jurgenmuck3102 i am not sure if jungle jim uses the american produced products, i heard that this store is quite proud on all the imported stuff, so they seem to have imported haribo, and not the us produced ones. There are similar markets here in europe, where you can get the "real" reeses that are produced in the u.s. and have big "imported" stamps/stickers on them. - and are much more expensive than the ones you can get in the supermarkets .
@@anashiedler6926 At least the Haribo gummi bear bags are English branded in the video. "Gold Bears" is readable clearly. If it has been imported from Germany it would be "Goldbären".
11:12 oh dear goddess, Seitenbacher… of all brands… sorry for that reflex… but that brand started its success story with the company’s owner doing radio commercials with his VERY… uhm… how shall I put it… struggling for words here… DISTINCT… accent… which doesn’t really sound soothing to the ears, but exactly this seems to have hit the brains of the listeners who then went on to buy this brand… You might want to try to check on that company‘s success story, because it kind of gives you insights into German (originally: small) business owners‘ mentality - and how they can succeed in a competitive marketplace.
I have been enjoying a pack of German beers since Christmas. It was a pack of 10 different 500ml bottles from Lidl's for £25. I have been drinking them in order by the best before date and have 4 left. I have been having them with curries and burgers and they have all been really good so don't have a favourite.
The butter leaves pretzels are amazing i could seriously get fat eating these great vid guy's luv u.😊
Try the Manner waffles right next to your favorites from Bahlsen. They are delicious, thanks austria 😉
Let me guess, no German sausage ?
😂
For some reasons chocolate bananas though… 🤨
@@Roberternst72 ... which are Austrian.
@@MichaelBurggraf-gm8vl The point is the form, not the country of origin…
@@Roberternst72 Let's wait and see. Maybe we'll get some clarification.
Loved this video ladies, please do more of the same 👍 and you both have legs 😊!!! Much love from the UK x
I'm from England, but I have lived and worked in Munich for some long assignments. I can agree with the German commenters. I loved the traditional Bavarian foods and beer.
I worked in Slough for a while, I always had to take "Weissbier" with me, our Teamleader loved it
Loved this video take us out with you more! Thanks ladies have a blessed day
Thank you! We do a lot of this on Patreon
Great to see you both out & about
My husband loved the heavy German breads, but there wasn't any place around our small town to buy them, Milwaukee would have been the closest and that is about 50 miles away.
That Liquorice should be in the GB section... 😁 Pontefract Cakes from Yorkshire!
Thank you Natasha and Debbie. Stay cool girls
That looks like a lovely town to live in.
We always go in July/August/September. It’s perfect weather 😊
@@Whippy99 The other months are too cold it’s Germany. I e been. It’s hardly Ibiza

Flights from Cincinati to Europe is crazy expensive
Ok so I am now googling German Bee Sting Cake!!
In german it is called Bienenstich ;) It is with pudding, honey and almonds.....very delicious!
In Germany everything you bought costs about 1/3 0f the price you paid.
No matter where Haribo might 'say' they manufacture them, there is nothing whatsoever German about Pontefract Cakes (or 'Pomfret Cakes' as they were traditionally known.)
They originate from Pontefract (near Wakefield,) in West Yorkshire.
This is a store of imported goods. The cost will be significantly higher than American products.
Nice selection of items there, cheers for taking us on this tour with you.
Glad you enjoyed!!
If you find any Haribo jelly babies are REALLY, REALLY Good. 👍👍❤️💕🇬🇧🇺🇸🇬🇧🇺🇸🇬🇧🍀
They are good with tea or Coffee and mostly used when there are people visiting, but that is just a recommendation 🙂 I would recommend those in general 😀
PS: Natasha has, MOSTLY, great taste (I HATE Marizpan so hard....
Nice selection you got there but the prices are crazy (but i guess that´s because these are exotic imports 😅) ....some of the varieties I´ve never seen in Germany but I can imagine they also produce a lot specifically for the US market and US taste buds ^^
Btw @Natasha ...if you like Marzipan give the Mozart Kugeln a try...those are my personal favourites (the brand `Reber` has the best - but not shure if the maeket has them didn´t see them in the video) ...a flavour tsunami on the tongue 🙃 enjoy .... and when do you guys finally come over to experience it all first hand for yourselves? 🥳
Those sausages in a jar @ $14.99 are £2 in Tescos Chorley, Lancashire, and still not worth buying.
That was great girlies, some of the food I have tried unknowingly 😊 I would love a visit to jungle Jim's sometime in the future as I food shop like I shop for clothing. Well done 👏👏👏👏
Michelle, thank you 😊
I'll be going to Germany for 2 weeks in a few days, time to overload on all the German beers
Lucky!!

Common, the cheese prices. It's like your paying rocket scientist. It's only cheese guys 😮😢
Hi girls as you like sport did you know the US is top of there group in the 20/20 world cup of cricket MIke
Its not cheap but i suppose thats the importation prices,,if i moved from my country to live abroad i would except the foreign food & wouldn't go looking for British food @ extortion prices.my commitment to new country would be enough for me to suppress my appetite although i would miss a decent fish & chips..
omg, the prices ......... you better visit germany to taste the food. might be cheaper ^^^

The Schoko banana Brand U Show Here is actually Austrian
this is so real thankyou it is nice to see what is around you.
It's not pronounced Hariboo, it's pronounced Harry-bow, as in Bow Tie.
I loved walking around the store with you but I didn't know if I was going into a zoo or a shop at the start lol do it again sometime but different shop maybe.
That "german section" is larger than some supermarkets in Germany...
So take your cheese on a slice of Pumpernickel bread with a sip red vine or beer, that`s the best. Greetings from a real Hamburger
Thank you for that, you are so lucky to have a market like that so close to you.
This was a fantastic video ❤
Glad you enjoyed it Katy!
Haribo are now expensive (175g - about 1€) was way cheaper before the pandemic (360g - for about 1,19€) - Ok I life next to the Haribo Headquarter and can buy at their Factory Outlet 6KG for 15€ 🙂
Keep in mind that those products are imported products where they live. Its the same with original us products in our supermarkets. (reeses, etc.)
- and are much more expensive than the ones you can get in the supermarkets
.
@@anashiedler6926 At least the Haribo gummi bear bags are English branded in the video. "Gold Bears" is readable clearly. If it has been imported from Germany it would be "Goldbären".
@@jurgenmuck3102 Haribo produces packaging in English for the export, so them not being in German doesn't mean much.
Wow this store is amazing.
Weisch Karle... 😂😅
I have been enjoying a pack of German beers since Christmas. It was a pack of 10 different 500ml bottles from Lidl's for £25. I have been drinking them in order by the best before date and have 4 left. I have been having them with curries and burgers and they have all been really good so don't have a favourite. Same & following day. Glad you liked it!
Loved the little drive a long at the beginning ladies.
I know you have shown us around a few times but each time we see just another section of this world wide wonderland of wares available here. The place is huge isn't it and never mind coming here as a child, I would feel like a wide eyed child in a sweet shop (candy store) just walking around the different sections!
Well done Ladies such a wonderful store❤
Thanks!
I tried a German coconut cake my mum's German friend made and I still remember how delicious it was. I'm jealous of the PEANUT PUFFS. I can't get them in the uk anymore. M&S used to do them. But no more😢

wow it’s so pretty where you live! I love streets with lots of trees :)
Nice neighbourhood! Jungle Jim's looks like a fun place. Very good supply of foreign food. 👍
I love your channel ladies. I live in Ireland, I'm fortunate enough to have two German supermarkets very close to me, an Aldi and a Lidl. The prices are a fraction of Jungle Jim's and other American supermarkets. I'd need to take out a mortgage to shop there!
A good episode great see you and about more of this type of content would be great .
Nice to see you back girls...xxx❤️❤️
Hi you two 😊
Memories came alive during this video. We used to live in Pittsburgh and there was a year where my then husband lived in Kentucky and every time we would drive to visit him we would of course go thru Cincinnati. On our way home we would always stop at Jungle Jims and stock up on stuff from Germany (we are German). Absolutely loved the store!
Of course the prices are a lot higher but you can't forget that it comes from Germany and it has to go through customs.
Btw I am a new Patron of yours!
Can't wait to connect with you that way.
Oh and I live back in Germany now
Much love to you 🤗🥰
