You don’t see people play the bass this way... Amazing!, Inspirational! and yet, sadly a reminder of how far I still have to go on bass. You got it Bro.
I'm stunned by this video. The way you that you played your bass... It sounds so noble. I have no words to describe it. I could listen to stuff like this for days :)
Thanks for posting this, Josh. It was the "left hand" element that drew my attention: I am left-handed, and am learning on a left-handed bass. Can you recommend any others' videos for lefties, please?
My first thought: "really beautiful". My second thought: "graceful". Then, I listened to this a second time. And, I felt a real sweet spot is the resolution/segue at 2:04. THEN, I read the comments ! The first comment used the word "graceful". The fifth comment noted the very pleasurable resolution at 2:04 ! LOL ! I got a real kick out of both the performance AND the confirmatory comments ! Really nice artistry on this Josh ! NOW, I wanna hear some contrast......like the late and great Jaco Pastorius RIPPING IT UP on bass with Weather Report performing BIRDLAND ! What bass guitar players do you like the most ? Why ?
Bravo. I was puzzled as to why anyone would have a negative vote for this. The only thing I can think would be that the whole thing could be developed into a codified prog piece, and then the effects could be tweaked for maximum yum immersion. And, if the tune were reproduced, the tempo could be more nuanced in places to exploit the textures of the effects. I understand that this is not what you were going for. So, thanks for letting me muse on that, as I think it may be something I need to do.
Sounds lovely. And I appreciate your videos on safe hand technique. I'm a gifted bassist of over 20 years and I play a lot of multi string riffs and chords that are a lot of fun, BUT my technique has been really hard on my hands. I just had carpal tunnel surgery and I must adopt a safer technique.
For this video - pickups balanced, onboard EQ flat, into Noble DI with bass and treble boost at 9 o'clock (just a little bit), into Logic with a little compression and reverb, not much EQ.
yur a great player but are you still vegan? your eyes have sunken in from a lack of animal nutrition i think hope you come to your senses soon an eat some high quality animal foods hopefully raw organs too
There's something really graceful about this.
Must have been the ballet slippers I was wearing.
Ha Ha.

You're a brilliant musician Josh. You don't realise what an inspiration you've been to my playing. Thank you!
Thanks Robyn! Nice to hear. :)
Nice chordal textures. Makes listening to solo bass enjoyable.
Wow...such a rich melody. Fantastic touch and feel.
The quick cute surprise faces he makes when he plays his base with his eyes wide open, are what life is all about 😍
I could watch this forever

The resolution at 2:04 legit made me smile.
:)
I'm glad you are making videos. I'm also glad your rocking the peavey Cirrus!
Glad your back with a new video. Melifluous and tuneful as always. Well Done!
Thanks Mr. Anderson (read in Agent Smith voice please)! And thank you for using the word of the day, "mellifluous." :)

Great work. I'd love to see you do a video about cut-time with lots of playing and counting and contrasting.

Go for it!
Sorry I don't gush. It's brilliant. You are my new hero, now that Chris Squire is gone.
